Sousaphone ChairBefore 1946, playing the sousaphonewas a very awkward exercise. Evenstudents with the desire and talentwere often too overwhelmed by the instrument’s size and cumbersome natureto stick with it. Harry Wenger, a bandleader and educator always looking forways to help his students and fellow musicians, designed a chair thatsupports the instrument’s bulk andlets musicians concentrate on theirtechnique. The Sousaphone Chairhasn’t changed much since HarryWenger’s original design. And neitherhas Wenger’s desire to develop the innovations that enhance your musician’s abilities.
