We encourage you to choose a weekday to attend, as we cannot fit everyone at Sunday Masses. (Only about 60 people can come to any Mass, with half the pews roped off, individuals spread out, and the cry-room and choir-loft closed). On p. 3, note the full guidelines from the Diocese: if you or others around you are at risk, please stay home. We will continue to livestream the weekday Masses, as well as the 7:30 am Mass on Sun- days. Go to: www.Facebook.com/sacredheartlincolnNE Besides the guidelines on p. 3, there have been questions about face masks. You are encouraged to wear a mask, so long as you dont touch the front of your mask to move it down for receiving Commun- ion—because if you touch the front, you will contaminate your hands. You may wish to bring your own hand sanitizer to use as needed. Please ignore the lector/acolyte/server schedule for now. I will contact volunteers to Lector for Mass, to help with opening doors, cleaning the pews, etc. Please email Fr. Kosch if you are in a lower-risk group and would like to help with any of these important tasks— [email protected]. God bless you!

Guidelines and Safety Measures for Parishioners During Reopening

As of Monday, May 11, 2020, (in Lancaster County) parishes and religious institutions will be permitted to gather for the celebration of liturgies while practicing appropriate behaviors for containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These guidelines are subject to change in the event of new instructions from local or state health officials and the Office of the Bishop. General Guidelines:

• The dispensation from the Sunday and Holy Day obligation remains in place.

• Gatherings are limited to the Sacred Liturgy, so all forms of public liturgies in churches are permitted.

• All other parish and school activities remain restricted, including after-Mass gatherings such as coffee and rolls, funeral luncheons, wedding receptions, etc. The Bishop has restricted outdoor Mass.

The following are encouraged to stay at home:

• The sick

• The elderly

• People with underlying medical conditions

• Family members who live with elderly people or those who are at risk

• People who have access to those at risk in nursing institutions

• People who have upper respiratory or flu like symptoms

• People who live with someone with upper respiratory or flu like symptoms

• People with COVID-19 or live with someone with COVID-19

• People who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 Requested “Containment Practices” for those attending Mass:

• Family members sit together

• Sit in every other pew

• Cough in your sleeve

• Place your contribution envelope in the basket provided as you enter or exit the church. The ushers will not “take up the collection” during Mass

• No hand holding during the Our Father

• Sign of Peace is omitted

• Form a single file line with 6-foot intervals when processing forward to receive Holy Communion

• Follow the instructions of the ushers

• Avoid gathering in the vestibule or near the doors of the church following Mass

• If requested, assist with sanitizing the church and other public areas following Mass

• Attend Mass in your home parish

The Sacred Heart Conference of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP): In the Gospel today, Jesus says to us: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments...Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his love, peace and joy into our hearts, into our lives and through us into the hearts of those who are poor.

For the current fiscal year beginning in October 2019, through your gifts, the Sacred Heart Conference of the Society of SVdP was able to bring God’s love and mercy to 22 families, including 28 children. We provided $4,303 in rent assistance, $1,938 in electric assistance, $1,892 on beds and furniture, and $830 on other expenses. Our members devoted 87 hours of direct service to the poor in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you for returning your “Save the Change Jars” and for your prayers!

Another way to help us serve the poor is to contribute to the Lincoln Council of SVdP through “Give to Lincoln”, which is enhanced by matching funds. To donate, visit: www.givetolincoln.com
