ASHTAVAKRA GITA
Vedantic Study Retreat @ Sambodh Center 6363 N. 24th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49004
June 9-10, 2018 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Ashtavakra Gita, an original composition with 300
verses in 20 chapters of varying lengths, is attributed to
an unknown author.
It records a passionate and poetic dialogue between two
great masters, one a wise old king and powerful ruler,
Janaka, and the other a youthful scholar saint, Ashtavakra,
a poor hunchback. Their discussions focus upon four
fundamental questions of life:
“What is enlightened freedom?” “What is detached engagement?” “What is true knowledge?” And, “How to gain all three in this lifetime?”
The Ashtavakra Gita is prescribed for serious seekers of Truth.
