What is it?The rule of thirds will help us find the correct head room and lead room.

Head room- the amount of space from the top of head to the top of the frame

Lead room- the amount of space in the directions you subject is looking.

How to use?Divide your frame in to thirds using two horizontal lines and two vertical lines

Find the correct amount of Head room by placing the eyes of your subject on the axis that marks the upper third of the frame.

Find the correct amount of Lead room by placing the core of your subject’s body where the lines intersect.

Note: The line intersection used depends upon the direction your subject is looking. You want the eyes to look through the lead room.
