Jai Shri Krishna
Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College had its humble beginning in
1964, founded by the Sri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha with the objective of imparting
education and empowering the youth. The college, over the five decades, has recorded
phenomenal growth in terms of infrastructure, introduction of innovative, job oriented
courses.
This college was founded on the principles of Vaishnavism, with the sole purpose
of imparting value based quality education and empowering the youth. The college has seen a
phenomenal growth in terms of its infrastructure, its constantly restructured and revamped
curriculum to cater to the specific needs of the student community. The outstanding
performance of the students in academics and extension activities has enabled the college to
emerge as one of the premier institutions of higher learning.
The curriculum is reviewed and updated periodically, in keeping with the changes
in the diverse disciplines of arts, commerce, science and technology. An inter disciplinary,
multi disciplinary approach in designing the course work is adopted to ensure industry–
academia collaboration.

The efficacy of the teaching‐ learning process is made certain by adhering to a
system of continuous assessment as regards the theoretical and practical aspects of the
course work.

The college introduced 5 new courses‐ M.A.English, B.Sc.Statistics, B.Com
Marketing Management, B.Com.Taxation and Finance and B.A.Journalism and additional
sections for BBM and B.Com. Accounting and Finance.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations
The Controller of Examinations office, in the interest of the students has
introduced new initiatives for the benefit of the students.
Academics
• Common CIA time table was introduced for all courses.
• Continuous Internal Assessments (CIA) restructured. To reduce
subjectivity and to test analytical skills, descriptive and objective evaluation was
introduced. The third component was aimed to test the Generic skills of students for a
learner-centric approach.
• Improvement Test was conducted for those students who were unable to
secure passing minimum in the internal tests.
• Internal passing minimum of 16/40 marks for UG and 20/40 for B.Com
Honors and PG students was introduced for the students to understand the significance of
Internal Assessment. Students who fail to secure the internal passing minimum will be
marked RA and will appear for the ESE in the next semester and the CIA can be cleared in
the respective odd/ even semester.
• Syllabi Mapping form was sent to the External Question Paper Setters; to
ensure units were evenly distributed while setting the Question paper and also to measure
the desired educational outcomes, levels and domains of Bloom’s Taxonomy.
• Interdisciplinary Non Major Elective was introduced based on CBCS for
the students.
• Inter discliplinary Elective for post graduate student was included in the
curriculum by clubbing Arts, Science, Commerce courses respectively.
• For the first time Environmental studies was given a new dimension by
organizing a field trip and submission of a report for evaluation.
• A Not Assessed drive to clear the students of prior batches was conducted.

• The part IV courses weightage was changed from 40- 60 to 50-50 for
internal-external.
• For the benefit of Special Children, the COE office tied up with an NGO
for providing scribe.
• Academic and Administrative Audit was conducted to review the policies
and functioning of the COE Office.
Infrastructure
• Biometric system was upgraded and CCTV cameras were change from
analogue to Digital Cameras
• Examinations were conducted online due to the pandemic.
• All payments towards COE office were made online.
• The COE software was upgraded and changes were made in the data entry
to evaluation to report generation.
• Mark sheets were upgraded with 16 added security features.
The IQAC plays a vital role in monitoring and evaluating the performance by
SWOC analysis of the departments through the academic audit conducted to ensure the
standards of excellence and sustain progress alongsid equality assurance.
• One week Student Induction programme was conducted from 17th -22nd
June 2019.
• 2 Workshops in Evaluation Reforms - Outcome Based Education &
Bloom’s
Taxonomy were conducted on 6th September 2019 & 11th October 2019
The College embodies the true purpose of education—to impart knowledge as a
service to the society in order to make a difference and foster the spirit of camaraderie and
oneness.

• Workshop on E-Resources for 35 staff members and 445 students on
useful tips to access online databases were introduced to the students, particularly Kanopy

The College provides a conducive atmosphere for learning. Students are given

students experience a great sense of achievement and gain confidence being part of these
activities, apart from understanding the power of collaborative work.

students.

Award in SIIMA 2019. (South Indian International Movie Awards)

Quality enhancement is a continuous process. As an autonomous and accredited
institution, the college strives to set the standard of excellence in the teaching‐learning
process, quality of academic research, knowledge sharing and efficient functioning of the
entire system. The college enjoys the status of College with Potential for Excellence and has

Career guidance Program “Design your Destiny” was held at our college on
20.8.2019 for all UG students registered with the placement cell. Tmt. S.Thirumalaiselvi,
Deputy Director and MsYasmeen, Junior Employment officer from Professional &
Executive Employment Office, Chennai 600 032 , spoke on career opportunities available
for students motivating them to enhance their skills and be confident in their approach
. CLSS company conducted online test and interviews on 21-8-19 and the
following 6 students of MCA / MSc IT, have been selected to join CLSS as an intern
during their final semester as part of the project and subsequently join CLSS as an
employee on successful completion of their course. The candidates will be initially
provided with a stipend of INR.4000/- per month, during their internship period. However,
they will absorbed on permanent basis on completion of their academics, subject to 3 years
bond to work at CLSS.

1) Industry visit to Barclay’s Bank , DLF ,Chennai Office was arranged for
our students to attend the program called “Connect with Work” supported by Rubicon
Skill Development Pvt. Ltd.,on Thursday 26th September 2019 from 2pm to 5pm. This
program “Connect with Work”, supported by Barclays Bank aims at improving the
employability skills of the youth. Under this program, students will be trained by
Corporate Trainers to enhance their Soft skills which would help them significantly to
increase their chance of succeeding in a job interview.

Industry visit of students to Barclay’s office at Chennai helped our students to
interact with employees of Barclays Bank and get their queries answered on career options
and career growth as well as the latest trends in the industry. Received good feedback from

3) Conducted AMCAT online assessment test for Ernst & Young GDS
campus recruitment drive for 2020 passing out students on Friday 27th September 2019
from 10.30am to 7pm at our campus. Total 380 students registered and 313 students
attended the online test. Shortlistedstudents will have to attend the Technical and HR
interview in the last week of November. Online test Results and Interview date yet to
receive from the HR Executive and will be scheduled accordingly.
