Workshop 2: Sweets and Spices from TurkeyWorkshop 2: Sweets and Spices from Turkey

- Viewing photographs from our Turkey visit: an explanation of the life, culture and food habits in Turkey with a questions and answers sessions.

- Inmates were given a questionnaire to test their knowledge on food in Turkey.

Viewing the film with inmates which is about the importance of spices in relationships between people.

It is also about cooking to keep our loved ones happy.

It is also a case study based on the collection and distributon of lunch boxes in Mumbai, India.

Workshop 5: Citrus fruit

We discussed the properties of citrus fruit such as oranges, lemons, grapefruit, clementines and limes: their origins, cultures and varieties focussing mainly on the Algarvian Orange and from the Alentejo.

We tasted these citrus fruit and cakes made with oranges while we celebrated an inmate'

Workshop 6: Traditional Christmas foodWorkshop 6: Traditional Christmas food

A workshop on different Christmas food and sweet traditions from all over the world specially from Portugal and the rest of Europe and Africa with about 19 inmates and other participants.We had a Christmas sweet tasting session with different sweets from Portugal: Broas de Milho e Batata Doce, Pão de Ló, Filhós de Abóbora e Cenoura, Arroz doce, raisins, pine nuts, walnuts and figs and Bebinca from Goa.
