Abdallah Bdeir | Vice Chairman & Member of the Founding Board | Jordan Green Building Council, JordanMr. Bdeir is now the Assistant General Manager at Jordan Construction Materials Co. Mr. Bdeir started his operations career in the USA before moving to Amman and handling the technical and operational management of the local Mitsubishi Motors dealership. After leaving to Canada to complete his Graduate studies and further broadening his operational experience by working in the bio pharmaceutical manufacturing area, Mr. Bdeir returned to Amman to take on the role of Executive Manager of Steel Buildings Co. In addition to his role as Vice Chairman and member of the founding board of the Jordan Green Building Council as well as heading the Technical committee of the council, and a member of the UNEP SBCI steering committee, Mr. Bdeir has seen his career converging to the necessity of advocating sustainability most recently speaking at the Abu Dhabi Concentrated Solar Power conference. Mr. Bdeir is a member of the Jordan Engineers Association, the American Institute of Steel Construction, JSQ, OBS, Al-Faiha Club, the Islamic Cultural Society, McGill Alumni Club, amongst others.

Abdul Jalil Bakhruji | Projects Director Saudi Tabreed District Cooling Company, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)Abdul Jalil joint Saudi Tabreed in April 2010 as a Projects Director of Saudi Tabreed District Cooling Company. He holds a BS degree in civil engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran Eastern Province. He has 28 years of experience in utilities operation and maintenance in Saudi Aramco. He also obtained an associated degree in water and waste water technology from state of Missouri, USA in 1994. He had been through several electromechanical projects in Saudi Armco and been an operation and maintenance director for utilities plants in oil processing plants and Central Air Conditioning Plants within Saudi Aramco as well.

Christer Nyholm | International Sales Manager | Rensman ABChrister Nyholm, Sales & Project Manager of Swedish company Rensman since 2002, has spent the past five years primarily working in the international market within the Middle East. His expertise includes cleaning, pressure testing and passivation of district cooling networks most recently on Reef Island in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also brings extensive experience in irrigation systems, pipeline cleaning, disinfection and pressure/leakage testing and other technical skills from his years working at Al Safi, the world’s largest integrated dairy farm, in Saudi Arabia.Nyholm has worked for ABV Rock Group (Saudi Arabia), Volvo Truck Company (Iraq), Volvo Penta (Iran) and is a traveling service technician for luxury sailing yachts. “Solving technical problems is my specialty and what I enjoy most about my job” he says. “I’m a hands-on type of guy in the field continuously working with new ideas, constructions, and staying updated with new technologies and industry trends.”

Daniel Zywietz

Managing Director | Ambata Capital Middle East, UAE Deputy Chairman | Clean Energy Business Council, UAEDaniel Zywietz is the Managing Director of Ambata Capital Middle East. He advises clean technology companies on how to effectively build their business in the Middle East, from initial strategy through the search for local partners and capital acquisition for regional expansion. He is helping to build the cleantech industry in the region as the Deputy Chairman of the Clean Energy Business Council for the Middle East and North Africa, a non-profit industry organization. Prior to co-founding Ambata Capital Middle East, Daniel was a member of Booz & Company’s Low Carbon & Sustainability group in the Middle East and A.T. Kearney’s Utility practice in Europe. In these roles Daniel advised policymakers, governments, regulatory authorities, and private-sector institutions on low carbon & sustainability topics, leading engagements across the utilities and renewable energy sectors. Daniel holds a master’s degree in International Business from Maastricht University and is the co-author of several studies on the potential for renewable energy in Europe and the Middle East.

Deepak Naik | Director – Sales & Marketing Schneider Electric – Solution Centre GulfMr. Deepak Naik is currently the Director – Sales & Marketing at Schneider Electric – Solution Centre Gulf. He has over 23 years of rich experience in District Cooling Controls, Electricals and Energy Optimization. He started his career with Siemens- India, and later worked with several organizations in the Middle East spanning over 16 years. His diverse experience includes Business Development, Account Management, Project Management, Proposal Engineering, Techno-economic reviews, Implementation of innovative strategies for cost effective and eco-friendly solutions. Deepak holds a B.E in Electrical Engineering – India.

Dominic McPolin | Chief Planning Officer, Central Planning Office | Ministry of Works, Kingdom of BahrainMr. McPolin is a Chartered Town Planner with two degrees in City Planning specialising in Infrastructure. He holds the post graduate entry exams of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the RICS post graduate diploma in Project Management. In addition he holds an ACCA Post Graduate Certified Diploma in Accountancy and Finance and he also has an MBA in Construction.He has worked in Bahrain for 24 years having previously worked in Ireland (Belfast, Dublin), U.K. (London), Germany and Iraq. As Chief of the Central Planning Office (CPO), he is responsible for the coordination of the planning, implementation and security of all infrastructure, both public and private, in Bahrain through CPO procedures. Although the CPO is part of the Office of H.E. the Minister of Works, the responsibilities apply across all demarcation lines to include all ministry agencies and companies involved with the provision of infrastructure.He is currently managing

a number of specialized teams including the Bahrain Northshore Infrastructure Programme Management Team, the Housing PPP Primary Infrastructure Programme Management Team and also a team from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.Mr. McPolin has been instrumental in the development of policies and procedures for the development of private sector infrastructure provision and in particular the incorporation of private infrastructure assets within the public road reservation and as such has worked closely with District Cooling Companies in developing their networks in the Kingdom of Bahrain.The Bahrain National Economic Vision for 2030 has emphasized the role of CPO in coordination of the operational planning of all infrastructure in the Kingdom and has assigned CPO the role to ensure alignment of all infrastructure developers with that Economic Vision and the National Plan and to hold the concerned infrastructure providers accountable for deliveries in fulfilling the vision.

Fahad Rashid Mohamed Ajlan Al-Kaabi | Chief Executive Officer | Qatar Project Management – QatarMr Fahad Rashid Al-Kaabi , QPM’s Chief Executive Officer, brings with him over 16 years of extensive work experience in the areas of engineering skills, project management and top level management. Prior to joining QPM Mr Al-Kaabi held different positions at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) the most recent was Manager of the Conservation and Energy Efficiency. This role saw him formulate conservation policies, strategies and rules in conformity with conservation laws, and explore strategies and means for demand, side management for beneficial deduction in electricity and water loss, use, and waste. He also promoted educational awareness for energy conservation in Qatar, ensuring compliance with international and GCC energy conservation guidelines. Mr Al-Kaabi demonstrates a commitment to ongoing learning and development in the workplace.In 1996 he achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Miami in the US. This was followed by Master’s in Project Management from the University of Houston, US. Since joining QPM, Mr Al-Kaabi has made internal communication his biggest priority. He believes that the organization is best served by a constant flow of information within the company to foster innovation, company spirit, and a shared ambition to drive QPM forward into a world-class operation.

Frank-Detlef Karolius | Technical Sales and Product Specialist SAMSON AG, Germany Having specialized in process engineering, Mr. Karolius graduated from the RWTH technical university at Aachen, Germany with a degree in engineering in May 1986. Between 1986 and April 2000, Mr. Karolius worked as a product engineer at Messer Griesheim, Düsseldorf, a producer of technical gases, followed by Faudi Feinbau, Oberursel, a manufacturer of filtration and separation systems. After that, he served as a sales engineer for gas-fired infrared heating systems manufactured by GoGaS Goch, Dortmund. In May 2000, Mr. Karolius joined SAMSON in Frankfurt where he has been working as a sales engineer for self-operated regulators in the Technical Sales Department. Ivo Pothof | R&D Manager – Renewable Energy Deltares, Netherlands Mr. Ivo Pothof is an industrial hydrodynamics specialist at Deltares. Mr. Pothof has joined Deltares in 1997. He is specialized in fluid transients, optimal control of pipeline systems and air-water pipe flows. His PhD thesis on air-water flows in downward sloping pipes is directly applicable to waste water, cooling water and hydropower outlet works. He has worked on innovative solutions for the water industry in the Netherlands and abroad, like the application of booster pumping stations in the urban drainage system of Amsterdam. He has experience with development of numerical algorithms for fluid transients (WANDA software), commissioning fire fighting systems, field measurements and troubleshooting at chemical plants. He has written guidelines on fluid transients in Dutch standard NEN 3650 – 2006: Requirements for pipeline systems.
