However, the warm weather reminds us that we need to be sure our students know what is ap- propriate and acceptable dress for school (see page 4 of the Student Handbook). Inappropri- ate attire includes loose fitting tank tops or mus- cle shirts, strapless tops, spaghetti straps, short cut shirts, revealing clothing or shirts with inap- propriate language, pictures or innuendoes. Undergarments should not be visible. Mesh or other see-through clothing must be worn over another appropriate shirt. Please support our Administration if they notify you that your child is dressed inappropriately. This year the screening will take place when your child is participating in the swimming unit during physical education class. This wil enable us to screen students easily in their swimsuits. Physical Exams It is mandated by NY State that all seventh graders and new entrants are required to have a physical. Seventh grade physicals may be done on or after September 1, 2014. 4th Quarter Swim Schedule Apr. 1 - Apr. 29 Schackman May 6 - June 3 Wright & Whitcombe-Beebe Students are reminded that appropriate swimwear is mandatory in the pool area. For the boys, swim trunks are required. Cut-off shorts are prohibited. For the girls, a one-piece bathing suit or tankini is required. Bikinis are prohibited. Any student with hair touching their shoul-ders MUST either wear a swim cap or put it up in a pony-tail or bun while in the pool. Caps and goggles are NOT provided. Please purchase if needed.

early pick-up and departure: 1. Students arriving between 7:00 & 8:00 AM should be

dropped off in the “drop off lot” and use the entrance onthe new wing side of the building.

2. Parents must go to the attendance window in the mainlobby for early pick-ups and be prepared to show properidentification before their child will be called from classPlease note students will not be called from class after2:50 PM.

3. Pick-up at dismissal time (3:00 PM) must be done in thenew wing lot on the side of the building. Due to outsidegym classes, the yellow gate will not be opened unti2:55 PM.

S C H O O L B U D G E T V O T E . . . Remember to vote on the School Budget on Tues-day, May 17th at Central Valley Elementary School. Polls are open from 6:00 AM TO 9:00 PM.

FROM THE ART DEPARTMENT . . . Artistic masterpieces will be on display by K-12 students at Monroe-Woodbury's Annual District Art Show and will feature portfolio presentations by Senior Art Majors. The opening reception will be at the High School on Friday, April 29th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Additional viewing hours will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday, May 1st from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The following events will take place on Friday evening: Silent auction of hand painted clocks starting at 5:00

pm and ending promptly at 6:30 pm ♦ In an effort to stampout hunger in our community, The Empty Bowls Project will be taking place at 5:30 pm. Original hand glazed ce-ramic bowls will be available for a donation of $10.00. Each

bowl will also include a delicious scoop of ice cream! ♦ Beautiful hand-painted furniture will be auctioned in a live auction at 6:30 pm with all of the proceeds benefiting the scholarship program for graduating seniors. Come and celebrate the creative talents of Monroe-Woodbury's art students and help support the Visual Arts

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK . . . Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd - May 6th. Thank a teacher for all their hard work and dedication !

8th GRADE END-OF-YEAR ACTIVITIES . . . Our Middle School provides several wonderful activities for our 8th grade students and their families. These activities include an End of the Year Activity (Sponsored by the MS PTA) on June 3rd, a trip to The Castle on June 8th and a Farewell Slide Show on June 17th in which students should plan to arrive with their families and spend the evening with them. There will also be an 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony on June 21st to be held at 9:00 AM in the Middle School Gymnasium.

Additional information regarding these activities will be posted on the Middle School Website in late May/early June.
