Are the old-fashion, traditional, run-of-the-mill pizza’s finally making a comeback? Are the “hipster” “new-

age” pizzas on their way out? Is it time for all the Rosemary-Lemon, exceptional vegetable selections, and fancy names to exit gracefully from this decade or is it time for the marinara,

extra cheese, supreme and meat lovers to bow out? Or is it the time for the end of the decade fight to begin between the Young and Old generations of Pizza???? Who will be the perfectly cooked winner and who will be the burnt crust tossed out to the dumpster?

BATCH19 is inspired by the last batches of beer brewed before Prohibition made it illegal.

In 1919, beer was banned. Barrels were broken, breweries went under and recipes were lost. When beer came back 14 years later, it was never the same. That is

until now, because in 2004, an old logbook was discovered in the brewery archives dating back before 1919. Batch 19 is inspired by the last batches of beer brewed before Prohibition made it illegal.

Jan. 16, 1920 - Dec. 5, 1933

We associate the era with gangsters, bootleggers, speakeasies, rum-runners and an overall chaotic situation in respect to the social network of Americans. The period began in 1920 with general acceptance by the public and ended in 1933 as the result of the public’s annoyance of the law and the ever-increasing enforcement nightmare.

Prohibition was said to be a time in which regular law-abiding citizens would even break the law.

5 Fun FaCTs aBouT The ProhIBITIon oF alCohol In The u.s.Consumption of alcohol during prohibition was not illegal. That’s right - the consumption is not illegal. However, the manufacturing, sale and transportation were illegal making it very difficult to get your hands on some beer and alcohol.

July first is known as the “thirsty first”The Prohibition Act took effect on June 30th, 1919 - and so July 1st was the first day of a 14 year dry spell.

Speakeasy got their names because one would have to whisper a code word for entryThere were tons of speakeasies all around the US during prohibition. The name was derived because when entering an establishment where alcohol was served, you’d have to whisper the name through a slot in a locked door in order to get admittance.

When FDR signed an amendment to the Volstead Act, he was quoted saying “I think this would be a good time for a beer”This was an epic quote from FDR at a critical point in time. The day after the New Act was signed, Anheuser-Busch sent a group of Clydesdale horses to the White House to deliver a case of Budweiser beers.

After prohibition, only half of the breweries previously opened reopened.Prohibition forced many breweries out of business with only 50% of the breweries opening back up. While it took some time for new breweries to pop up, we’re now experiencing more breweries than ever before - along with businesses (drink craft beer and beer advocate) dedicated to experiencing delicious craft beers.

Is The Younger — Cont. from 1

Are you really the old generation? Weren’t you once the young generation that was discouraged and shunned for all your crazy and new-age ideas?Young generation, what are you fighting for? Is it the right to become the “old” generation? To become established and regarded as the norm? Who will be your “young” generation? Will it be this current “old” generation, trying to make their comeback? Or young generation, are you the one’s trying to make the comeback? Are you actually a “young” generation? So before you raise your forks and fling marinara and cheese in defense of your generation, take a second and try to figure out what generation you are. And which generation is really in peril….the young?.....the old?.....all generations?.....no generation?......Or is there really any distinguishing between generations……
