The extra candidatesbe duly appraised that they do not stand in the main merit list and they are being given a chance formedical examination against the possibility of vacancies that may arise due to candidates of mainlist declared medically unfit (including re medical examination) or remaining absent. 7. APPEALAGAINST DETAILED MEDICAL EXAMINATION:- a) In all cases, the candidates declared unfit forappointment in ITBP in detailed Medical Examination, will be communicated the grounds forrejection in broad terms by the Presiding Officer of the Recruitment Board. b) The candidate, if notsatisfied with the findings of the Medical Officer, can submit an appeal for his/her re-medicalexamination along with a medical fitness certificate in the prescribed form attached at annexure-VIas a piece of evidence in the possibility of error of judgment in the decision of the Medical Officer.c) The medical certificate will not be taken into consideration unless it contains a note by themedical practitioner concerned to the effect that it has been given in full knowledge of the fact thatthe candidate has already been declared unfit for appointment by a Medical Officer. d) The appealwill also not be taken into consideration unless it contains medical reexamination fee of Rs. 25/-through demand draft in the name of the Commandant, Base Hospital ITB Police, New Delhi. Theappeal should be submitted within one month from the date of issue of the communication, in whichthe findings of the Medical Officer are communicated to the candidate. e) Department (ITBP Force)will not be responsible for any postal delay. f) Certificate other than Medical Fitness Form atannexure-VI published in the advertisement to submit appeal application for Re-Medical Examinationwill not be considered & rejected straightway. The candidates studying in the final year of Degree Course, if not already in possession ofthe Degree Certificate should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from thedate of commencement of training at OTA. Such candidates will be inducted for training at OTA onAdditional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training as notified from time to time as well asstipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate. 2.CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY - (a) NATIONALITY: A candidate must be a citizen of India. Certificateof eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidate who are Gorkhas subject ofNepal. (b) Candidates withdrawn f rom IMA/OTA/Naval Academy/Air Force Academy on disciplinaryground are not eligible to apply. (c) PHYSICAL STANDARDS: (i) HEIGHT & WEIGHT: The minimumacceptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight and for women candidateis 152 cm and 42 kg. In case of candidates. (ii) VISUAL STANDARDS: The minimum acceptablevisual acuity are: Distant vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18, Myopia of not more than minus3.5 including Astigmation. Candidates who have undergone or have evidence for having undergone

    Radial Karatotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permanently rejected. Candidates who haveundergone Lasik Surgery for Correction of reflective error are NOT acceptable. (iii) To be passed fit,a candidate must be in good physical and mental health free from any disability likely to interferewith the efficient performance of duty. (iv) Prospective candidates are advised to excercise and keepthemselves physically fit, in order to avoid any injury due to the rigorous physical training at OTAChennai. In order to be able to adjust to the regime the candidates are advised to achieve followingstandards before joining the OTA, if finally selected:- (a) Running 2.4 Km in 15 minutes. (b) Push up- 13 Nos. (c) Sit ups - 25 Nos. (d) Chin ups- 6 Nos. (e) Rope climbing - 3-4 meter. 3. METHOD OFSELECTION: (a) SHORTLISTING OF APPLICATIONS AND SSB INTERVIEWS: Army Headquartersreserves the right to shorlist applications and to fix cutoff percentage of marks without assigning anyreason. Initial checking of applications will be done at Additional Directorate General Recruiting,Army Hqs. Only shorlisted eligible candidates depending on aggregate percentage of marks scoredwill be called for and assessed under aegis of Selection Centres, namely Allahabad (UP), Bhopal(MP) and Bangalore (Karnataka) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer.Candidates will not be interviewed locally. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of ArmyHeadquarters and no requests of changes are entertained in this regard. (b) TWO STAGE SELECTIONPROCEDURE: Two stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test is held atSelection Centres. All the candidates will face stage one test on first day of reporting at SelectionCentres. The candidates who qualify in stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remainingtests. Those who fail to pass stage one will be returned on the same date.(c) MERIT LIST: IT IS TO BE NOTED THAT MERE QUALIFYING AT THE SSB INTERVIEW DOESNOT CONFIRM FINAL SELECTION. A MERIT LIST IS PREPARED FOR EVERY QUALIFICATIONSUBJECT SEPARATELY PURELY ON THE BASIS OF MARKS OBTAINED BY THE CANDIDATES IN

    SSB INTERVIEW AND AS SUCH HIGHER EDUCATIONAL, PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES, NCCBACKGROUND ETC HAVE NO ROLE TO PLAY. THOSE HIGH IN THE MERIT LIST AND WHOCOME WITHIN THE STIPULATED VACANCIES, AND ARE MEDICALLY FIT ARE ISSUED JOININGINSTRUCTION FOR PRECOMMISSIONING TRAINING. (d) The merit list of the recommendedcandidates will be displayed at the reception of ADG RTG and Indian Army Website i.e.www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Candidates, who do not figure in Merit List of TGC, may be offeredSSC(T) for which fresh merit list will be drawn after merging the merit with the merit list of SSC(T).4. MEDICAL EXAMINATION: A candidate recommended by the Service Selection Board will undergoa medical examination by a Board of Service Medica Officers. The proceedings of the MedicalBoard are confidential and will not be divulged to anyone. However, candidates declare unfit by theSpecial Medical Board (SMB) will be intimated by the president of the Medical Board. The procedurefor request for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) will also be intimated to the candidates. Unfit Candidatesshould report for AMB within a maximum period of 42 days. Candidates are advised in their owninterest to appear for AMB well in time and should not wait for the last date given by the SMB.Candidates are advised to note that Recruiting Directorate has no role to play in Appeal Medical

    Boards and procedure advised by the medical authorities is strictly to be adhered to. TRAINING AND PROPECTS: (a) Selected candiatewill be detailed for training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai according to their position in thefinal order of merit, discipline wise upto the number of vacancies available at the time (b) Duratof training - 49 weeks (c) Engineering Graduates will be granted Short Service Commission (onprobation) and will be entitled to draw full pay and allowances admissible to Lt during trainingperiod. Pay and allowances will be paid after successful completion of training. (d) Candidates willneither be allowed to marry during the period of training nor will He/She be allowed to live withparents/Guardians. Candidates must not marry until they complete the full training at the OfficersTraining Academy. A candidate, who married subsequent to the date of his/her application thoughsuccessful at the Services Selection Board interview or medical examination, will not be inducted fortaining. A candidate if he/she marries, while under training, shall be discharged and will be liable torefund all expenditure incurred on him/her by the government. It is also applicable to widows ofDefence Personnel. (e) Training at OTA is at Govt. expense All candidates who successfully completePre- Commission training at Officers Training Academy, Chennai will be awarded Post GraduateDiploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies by University of Madras. (f) SSC (Tech)Engineering Graduate will be confirmed in Short Service Commission with an ante date seniority ofone year from date of commission. (g) Widows of Defence Personnel Selected for SSC (NT) Entry willbe granted Short Service Commission in the rank of Lt but will not be entitled to any ante dateseniority. (h) Ante Date Seniority. One year ante date seniority from date of commission will beapplicable for Men and Women Officers having Engineering Degree (BE/B.Tech) from a recognizedinstitution/university. 6. The final allocation of Arms/ Services will be made prior to passing out ofLady/ Gentlemen Cadets from OTA. 7. SUITABILITY TO RETAIN SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION:an Officer is reported upon within a period of six months from the date of confirmation of ShortService Commission as unsuitable to retain his commission, his commission may be terminated atany time, whether before or after the above perioed. 8. LIABILITY OF SERVICE: Officers maygranted Short Service Commission in any arms/services and will be liable for service in any part ofthe world on selected appointments as decided by Army Headquarters from time to time. 9. TENUOF ENGAGEMENT: Short Service Commision to Officers (Male and Female) in the regular Army willbe granted for 14 years i.e. for an initial period of 10 years extendable by a furhter period of 04 years.Male Officers who are willing to continue to serve in the Army after the expiry of period of ten yearsin Short Service Commission may, if eligible and suitable in all respects, be considered for the grantof permanent commission in the 10th years of their Short Service Commission in accordance withthe relevant rules. Those SSC officers who are not selected for grant of PC but are otherwiseconsidered fit and suitable, will be given options to continue as SSCOs for a total period of 14 years(including the initial tenure of 10 years) on expiry of which they will be released from the Army. SSC(Tech) Women Officers are not eligible for permanent commission. However, they can opt for
