1 Introduction

This document is intended for users of the Operations Support System (OSS) NWS Analyzer Application (NWS-A).

It describes the formulas used for calculating the statistics in the reports provided with NWS-A, including:

which counters that are used

from which tables and columns in the SDM databases the values are retrieved

If a report has several sheets, each sheet is described in a table of its own. If a report contains sheets with graphs, these sheets are normally not described, since the measurements in the graphs are usually available in a table elsewhere in the report.

1.1 Prerequisites

It is assumed that the user of this document:

has common knowledge of UTRAN systems

is familiar with telecom network statistics

is familiar with the NWS-A application

1.2 Typographic Conventions

OSS documents follow a set of typographic rules that make the documentation consistent and easy to read.

1.3 Getting Help

To get information on how to use the reports provided with NWS-A, see Reference [2], Network Statistics Analyzer, User Guide.

To get detailed information on how to create own reports, and how to add more data to reports in NWS-A, refer to the documentation for BusinessObjects and Designer.

Documentation for BusinessObjects is available from the Help menu in BusinessObjects. There is both online help and a user's guide in Adobe Acrobat (or PDF) format. This help contains general information on the report generator, and detailed information on how to modify and create new reports. However, it does not contain any information specific for the NWS-A reports.

Documentation for Designer is available from the Help menu in Designer. Similar to the help for BusinessObjects, this help contains detailed information on how to build and modify universes, but does not contain any information specific for the NWS-A universes.

To get detailed information on the contents of the universes provided with NWS-A, see Reference [3], Network Statistics Analyzer, Universe Description.

2 Reports

2.1 General

All reports specified here also exist in the version that is to be used for scheduling. These reports have the same name followed by "Sched".

Note: Please ensure that all counters required for the KPIs in reports are active either through predefined System Subscription Profiles or user defined Subscription Profiles in PM, Subscription Profile and Performance Monitoring (PMS) tool [5]. The content of the predefined System Subscription Profiles is available in the PMS user interface

3 Reference Of Counters Used In Predefined Reports

This reference is intended to assist in configuration of counters used in predefined reports and not enabled by default.

If any counter is not showing up verify if the scanner for the missing counter is enabled.

Note: The counter names in this list are abbreviated to match the limitations of maximum permitted column name in the database while the counter names used in the formula descript correspond to the full name of the counter. The mapping of MOClass, counter short and long name can be obtained direct from the OSS database server: Prerequisite to execute the following query: User must be familiar with Sybase SQL query language and tools, have access to SQL shells isql or other SQL Advantage, a network connection to the OSS database server and appropriate privileges. The following query will list the MOClass, counter name, counter short name and the counter description: select a.moClass, a.counterName, b.shortName, a.description from UTRAN_seg1..dict_CounterNames a, UTRAN_seg1..dict_CounterSequence b where a.counterId = b.counterId
