Jim Gates: The Title of the Keynote will be, "This ChangesEverything" -Description: "Up until the mid 1990's the role of educationin our society hadn't changed much for hundreds of years. While you've been busy with the business at hand, anenormous information evolution took place that perhapsSHOULD impact everything about what and how we doour jobs. We'll examine some of those developments andhow they might/should make us rethink the role of education in today's society."
Breakout Sessions:
Top Ten Skills Every Teacher and Student Should Have - In thissession I show a series of skills from information management skills
to personal computing skills that I think are “must-have” skills fortoday’s learners. (2 hours) Included is the ability to understand and
debug web addresses, some keyboard shortcuts, RSS and more. However, not all the skills can be TAUGHT in this amount of time -
some are just explained. Alternatives to PowerPoint The web is packed with sites that allow
users to create excellent presentations, complete with voiceovers, and
then embed them onto web pages. These sites are perfect for digitalstory telling projects, lessons, and just plain PowerPoint alternatives.
We’ll also show some ways of getting around the email requirementsfor creating accounts. (50 minutes)
