Importance of administrative simplification
o Administrative simplification is an important component of one of two priority goals of strategic importance at the Court of Auditors
o Court Outline Strategy 2009-2012 identifies two priority goals, one of which is resources efficiency driven:
Priority goal 1: maximising the overall impact from our audits
Priority goal 2: increasing efficiency by making best use of resources

Importance of administrative simplification
o Administrative simplification is one of the important means by which the Court aims to achieve Priority goal 2
o Administrative simplification can take many forms:
- rationalising the organisation (e.g. fewer management layers)
- harmonisation and simplification of processes and procedures
- computerisation

o Two major studies identified opportunities for improved efficiency through administrative simplification:
1. International Peer Review of European Court of Auditors by four Supreme Audit Institutions (December 2008)
