Needs

Continued progress in the basic and clinical sciences, therapeutics, technology, and surgical techniques is leading to increased understanding of eye disorders and improved diagnosis and management. The purpose of this course is to update practicing ophthalmologists and ophthalmologists in training on the latest, clinically-relevant advances in the field and to provide useful, evidence-based information on the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic disorders.

Target AudiencePracticing ophthalmologists and ophthalmologists in training.

ObjectivesAt the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:• Useintraocularlens(IOL)calculationsandbiometricdatatoimproverefractiveoutcomesinpatients

undergoing cataract surgery.• Assessthebenefitsandrisksofsurgicalinterventionsforthetreatmentofpatientswithglaucoma.• Diagnosetheunderlyingcauseofvisionimpairmentinpediatricpatientsandmanage appropriately.• Applyevidence-basedapproachesindiagnosingandmanagingocular

surface disease.• Applyanti-VEGFtherapytomanageretinalconditionsunrelatedtoage-relatedmaculardegeneration(AM).• Selectandimplementoculoplasticsurgicalproceduresthatcanbesafely

performed in an office-based setting.• Identifypatientsatriskforcataractsurgerycomplicationsandimple-

ment anticipatory management strategies to minimize adverse effects and improve outcomes.

• Applyneuroimagingandaccuratelyinterpretresultsindiagnosingandmanaging neuro-ophthalmologic diseases / disorders.
