ONE WORLD. ONE VOICE. The following 10 films were announced Monday, September 29, 2014 as the Second Wave of Official Selections for the 2014 edition of the 24fps International Short Film Festival. A final 12 selected films will be announced October 6, 2014 as the last wave. The exhibition/competition programs will contain a total of thirty films. All of these exhibition screenings take place in the landmark Paramount Theatre, a restored movie palace from 1930 listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 24fps, a premiere international short film competition, is now in its 16th year. YEARBOOK Director: Bernardo Britto Producers: Brett Potter, Lucas Leyva, Ben Cohen USA Animation, 2013, 6 min. A man is hired to compile the definitive history of human existence before the planet blows up. About the Director Born in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Bernardo Britto graduated from NYUʼs Tisch School of the Arts. He co-directed the feature film NOTHING YET and received the National Board of Review animation grant in 2011. In 2012, he was selected as a Marcie Bloom fellow and co-directed the feature film WISDOM TEETH. In 2013, his short THE PLACES WHERE WE LIVED screened at various festivals including SXSW, Chicago International Film Festival, and AFI fest where it garnered the Award for Best Animated Short Film. YEARBOOK was the winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Jury Award for Best Animation. CLOTH PAPER DREAMS Director: Greg Davis Producers: Greg Davis, Dianna Eccleston-Colton USA Documentary, 2013, 11 min. Journey to Indiaʼs Kumbh Mela, where every twelve years at the confluence of Indiaʼs three holiest rivers, untold millions converge to pray, commune, and ultimately connect to something greater than themselves. Follow one man on his pilgrimage of faith, another on his journey of devotion, and a third on his quest for purpose. About the Director After ten successful years in the technology business, Greg Davis resigned from his position in 2004 and traveled the world for one year. The images he captured soon became his life. He is now a National Geographic Creative Photographer, a Founding Member of the Austin Center for Photography and a member of the Texas Photographic Society. Gregʼs work has been published by National Geographic, MSNBC, Professional Photographer Magazine, the Houston Chronicle, and the Austin American Statesman. Julien Nicaud is a Franco-Swiss artist who has been drawing diligently since the age of 4. He has studied visual arts (ERACOM), developed his own comic book, and worked on numerous advertising projects including campaigns for Nestle, Rivella, and Tissot. He currently works as an artistic director, storyboard artist, and director for advertising. LE POT DE CONFITURE (The Jam Jar) received its North American premiere in June of this year at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. It has also been in competition this year at the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival.

Under the hot Indian sun, the graceful centipede dances with ease through the forest. Nearby, the jealous toad sits and plots the centipedeʼs downfall.. About the DirectorAnna Khmelevskaya is a native of Belarus. She first studied at Minskʼs Fine-Arts Academy, as well as at its University of

Linguistics. She then attended the Arts Decos school in Paris, where she studied computer graphic and animation. Since graduation, she has worked as a graphic designer, animator, and storyboarder. THE CENTIPEDE AND THE TOAD has appeared in over 50 festivals worldwide, including the Chicago International Childrenʼs Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award for Best Animated Short Film.

Andres lives in a caravan in the woods. One morning, while he is running errands, he meets Daniela. The next morning, Andres wakes up naked in the woods, and there is no trace of Daniela.About the DirectorJorge Dorado is a Spanish filmmaker and who began his career working as assistant director on numerous films including Pedro Almodovarʼs BAD EDUCATION and TALK TO HER as well as Guillermo del Toroʼs THE DEVILʼS BACKBONE. He received Goya Award nominations for this short films LA GUERRA and NUEVOS TIEMPOS, and his collective short film work has been seen at over 100 festivals worldwide. His first feature film, MINDSCAPE (also knows as ANNA) has shortlisted him for the Goya Award for best new director. EL OTRO (THE OTHER) has been presented 9 major festival awards.

A young couple find themselves on a small boat lost at sea. Hope is a good breakfast, but a bad supper. About the DirectorAfter studying Creative Media Arts in Amsterdam, Pedro Pinto moved to London and joined the National Film and Television School. His work has been recognized with the award for Best Music Video at FEST in 2005, Best Visual Effects at ANIMEX in 2007, and the ZON 2010 Awards. Most recently Pedro won the Gereno.tv End7 contest. He currently works as a freelance writer, director, and animator on music videos, short films, and commercials. EPOH most recently was screened in the short film corner of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

DEXTROCARDIADirector: Hsuan-Yu LinProducers: Hsuan-Yu LinTaiwanNarrative, 2013, 16 min.

In this modern revenge film noir inspired by Christopher Nolanʼs FOLLOWING, a masked killer exchanges mysterious Polaroid snapshots with a dealer. About the DirectorHsuan-Yu Lin, a native of Taiwan, is a prolific director of music videos and band promotional materials who joined with his colleagues to form a production studio called Free Time Movie. This is his first short film,

and the 24fps screening will be its US Premiere.

NOT ANYMORE: A STORY OF REVOLUTIONDirector: Matthew VanDykeProducers: Matthew VanDyke, Nour KelzeUSADocumentary, 2013, 14 min.

The struggle for Syrian freedom, as experienced by a young rebel fighter and a female journalist.About the DirectorCombat veteran, former prisoner of war, award-winning documentary filmmaker, International Security analyst, media commentator, and award-winning writer Matthew VanDyke has had extraordinary experiences in some of the worldʼs most dangerous places. He has driven motorcycles into war zones, and joined his friends as a rebel fighter during the 2011 Libyan Civil War to overthrow Musmmar Gaddafi. He was captured in the city of Brega and spent six months as a captive in two of Libya's most notorious prisons. Because the Gaddafi regime denied having him in custody, he was believed to be dead. He escaped in August of 2011, and returned to combat on the front lines in Libya. NOT ANYMORE: A STORY OF REVOLUTION has won over 70 major awards, including Audience Awards at both Palm Springs and DC Shorts.

In a city at night, a human-shaped deer tries to steal a manʼs identity by taking his head off.About the DirectorElie Chapuis, a native of Lausanne, Switzerland, graduated from the French animation school, EMCA, in 2002. Since that time he has

worked as a stop-motion animator and numerous short and feature length films as an animation supervisor. IMPOSTEUR is his first independent project, and has already appeared in over 40 festivals worldwide including the Melbourne International Animation Festival, the London International Animation Festival, and the Chicago International Film Festival.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.Director: Sandhya Daisy SundaramProducers: Tanya Petrik, Guillaume ProtsenkoRussia/IndiaDocumentary, 2013, 12 min.

Through the endless winters, every year, her love takes new forms.About the DirectorSandhya Daisy Sundaram is a final year Graduate student of Film Direction at the Film and Television Institute of India, and a graduate in Visual Communication from the University of Madras. Women have been the constant focal point of her work. She is presently

experimenting with the synthesis of fiction and non-fiction. Besides filmmaking, traveling and exploring are high on her agenda. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. was the winner of a 2104 Short Film Special Jury Award for Non-Fiction at the Sundance Film Festival.
