ONE WORLD. ONE VOICE. The following 13 films were announced Wednesday, September 30, 2015 as the Third Wave of Official Selections for the 2015 edition of the 24fps International Short Film Festival. The final exhibition/competition programs now contain a total of thirty films. All of these exhibition screenings take place in the landmark Paramount Theatre, a restored movie palace from 1930 listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 24fps, a premiere international short film competition, is now in its 17th year. WORLD OF TOMORROW Director: Don Hertzfeldt Producer: Don Hertzfeldt USA Animation, 2015, 16 min. A little girl is taken on a mind-bending tour of her distant future. About the Director Don Hertzfeldt is an Oscar nominee whose animated short films include Billy's Balloon, I Am So Proud of You, The Meaning of Life, and Rejected. His work has played around the world, receiving over 200 awards. In 2012, his first feature film, It's Such a Beautiful Day, was named by several critics as one of the top 10 films of the year. World of Tomorrow was named the Short Film Grand Jury Prize winner at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. It was named Best Animated Short at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival, and has received over 25 international awards including the Audience Award and Special Jury Distinction at Annecy International. MILKMAID Director: Agnes Baginska Producer: Zachary Peel-McGregor Australia/Poland Narrative, 2014, 7 min. A tale of a Milkmaid who becomes a medium for the forces of nature. About the Director Agnes Baginska is a writer, director, editor. and member of the Australian Directors Guild and the Australian Screen Editors Guild. She also freelances in the industry, and her background includes assessing scripts and dramatic texts for literary agents and assisting producers. Milkmaid was chosen by director David Lynch himself as the First Place winner in a scholarship competition at the David Lynch MA in Film school. It recently screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner. She is a graduate of the David Lynch MA in Film, the University of California- School of Theatre, Film and Television, the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, and the Sydney Film School. In this document, the 24fps International Short Film Festival releases the titles of the final thirteen films named as Official Selections for its 2015 edition. These films join the previous eighteen already announced, and represent work from the USA, Australia, Poland, Germany, Latvia, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Spain, and Switzerland. Thirty-one films will be featured in the Public Exhibitions, to be held November 6-7, 2015, at the landmark Paramount Theatre in Abilene, Texas. http://www.24fpsfest.com

LAST TRAIN HOMEDirector: Ansgar GlattProducer: Markus MayrGermanyNarrative, 2015, 18 min.

Boris T. loses it in the subway when he is asked for his ticket. What follows is a brutal assault, which dramatically alters the lives of both bully and victim.About the DirectorAnsgar Glatt is a native of Germany who began his career with an internship at a snowboard film production company. He continued in this field, eventually working on features, documentaries, and commercials. In 2009 he began to study law at the LMU in Munich, with a focus on Immaterial Property Rights and Competition Law. He will graduate this year. Last Train Home is a work he collaborated on with his friend and producer, Markus Mayr, who is currently a film student at HFF Munich. Last Train Home is just beginning the festival circuit. This is the film’s U.S. premiere.

ANTHOPHOBIADirector: Valentin PetitProducer: Valentin PetitFranceNarrative/Experimental, 2015, 5 min.

Anthophobia: A morbid dislike or even fear of flowers. About the DirectorValentin Petit is a French cinema director and designer working in various multimedia, particularly music, fashion, and the extreme-sport sector. His aspirations had been as a professional rider in motocross, but following a motorcycle crash Valentin left the world of motocross performance to specialize in his original passion:

cinema, video, and short movies and documentaries, which are scaled for collaboration with artists, musicians, singers, and actors for art and commercial multimedia. After studies at an art school in Lyon, France, Valentin joined a specialized state school in graphic design in Montpellier. Between lessons, he works in his chosen field, multimedia, cinema, and design. He is currently a student at the License of Cinema, a specialized state school for cinema located in Paris.

A Trumpet player becomes deaf and struggles to adapt to a new life. About the DirectorGints Zilbalodis is a twenty-one year old Latvian filmmaker and animator. He is a freelance commercial director whose previous short, Priorities, gained him international recognition as a new and innovative voice in the world of animation. Inaudible, completed this past August, is just beginning the festival circuit. This is the film’s U.S. premiere.

DEAD HEARTSDirector: Stephen MartinProducer: Alex GluaCanadaNarrative, 2014, 16 min.

A young mortician will give his heart away to find true love. A whimsical, gothic bedtime story filled with love, loss, taxidermy, Kung Fu, and biker werewolves.About the DirectorStephen W. Martin is an award-winning writer and director from St. John's, Newfoundland. His first short film, Dead Friends, was the winner of the Crazy 8's Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada and was awarded Best Short at the Sacramento Horror Film Festival. It went on to screen at over 40 film festivals around the world, receiving a Tabloid Witch Award and a Leo Award nomination. Stephen is also the author of "Pop Manga," the #1 best-selling 'how-to-draw' book on Amazon.com, published with Random House. His first children’s picture book, “Robot Smash," published by Owlkids,was released in April of 2015.

UFODirector: Gregory David KingProducer: Mhairead ConnorNew ZealandNarrative, 2014, 17 min.

Nine year-old Brains needs to get back to his real family up in space before being exterminated by the human family he lives with on planet Earth.About the DirectorGregory King is a Berlin-based writer/director originally trained as an actor. He made his feature film debut with Christmas, which was invited to festivals in Toronto, Edinburgh, Melbourne, and New Zealand. In 2004 King won selection to the Binger Filmlab, a film development school based in Amsterdam. His feature film A Song of Good, which was originally mentored by editor Molly Stensgarrd, a colleague of Danish director Lars Von Trier, was eventually funded by the New Zealand Film Commission. As a writer, his short film work includes Brave Donkey ( Finalist—Qantas New Zealand Film Awards), and Bird (Finalist—New Zealand Film Awards). UFO was presented the Best Script Short Film Award by the New Zealand Writers Guild, and was named one of the “Six Best” New Zealand Short Films for 2014.

MEND AND MAKE DODirector: Bexie BushProducer: Timo SuomiUnited KingdomAnimation/Documentary, 2014, 9 min.

A woman’s memories of her wartime youth, her love, and her family come alive through everyday household objects.About the DirectorBexie likes to explore unusual approaches when making films. She enjoys working with fabrics because it has a tangible textural quality and she aims to bring back the craft and handmade quality of film. She currently attends the National

Film and Television School. Mend and Make Do has been an Official Selection at over 25 worldwide festivals, including BAFTA, Edinburgh, Annecy, and Cambridge. The film was named Best Short Film at the Palms Spring Short Film Festival, and was nominated for the Gold Hugo at the 2014 Chicago International Film Festival.

MAXIPLACEDirector: Vincent DiderotProducer: Sebastien AubertFranceNarrative, 2015, 20 min.

Mr. Leduc lives in a strange building: any tenant can insert money into a machine to move his walls and steal extra space from his neighbor.About the DirectorVincent Diderot is a native of France who, after graduating in visual and performing arts, devoted himself to short film directing. Influenced by the painters Jackson Pollock, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Francis Bacon as well as film directors David Lynch and Terry Gilliam, his short films Louise and Sirene are experimental. He is especially known for his short film La Revelation, which was selected for more than 50 festivals and won the Best Short Science Fiction Award at the Cinefantasy Film Festival. Maxiplace is new on the Festival circuit. This is the film’s Southwest U.S. debut.

FRIDGEDirector: Pepe BotiasProducer: Kiko MedinaSpainNarrative, 2014, 6 min.

The cycle of a relationship as seen from the inside of a fridge.About the DirectorPepe Botias is a native of Spain and a graduate of the Madrid Film Institute (Direction and Digital Cinema). He has served as the director of photography for numerous short films, music videos, commercials, and music tours. His short film, Exit, won numerous international awards, including the International Film Competition Grand Prize (EOS Movie Award) at SESIFF in Seoul. His film Therion was seen at over 20 international festivals, and his contract work includes labels like Carlitos Records. His music video for Deniro’s From Heroes and Rulers has appeared in 5 international festivals, and can currently be seen on channels like MTV, 40TV and Sol Music. Fridge has been seen in over 30 festivals worldwide. This is its Southwest U.S. premiere.

THE RIVER. MY BROTHER, ME.Director: Timothy Jacob ElledgeProducers: Timothy Jacob Elledge, Emilio TorrienteUSANarrative, 2015, 15 min.

With his younger brother struggling to adapt in the wake of a tragedy, a young man revisits the crux of his family’s ruin in search of something left behind.

About the DirectorTimothy Jacob Elledge is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker. He was raised in Buffalo, New York and graduated from the CUNY Brooklyn College Dept. of Film in 2015. The River. My Brother, Me was his undergraduate thesis film. It had its world premiere at the 2015 Hollyshorts Film Festival. The film explores the nature of our first encounters with fate and grief. Timothy states: “I believe the film uses the story of a broken nuclear family to prompt important questions regarding grief and the dangers of escapism. We must learn to accept that to re-write our past is an impossible task.” This is the film’s Southwest US premiere.

DISCIPLINEDirector: Christophe M. SaberProducer: Elena TattiSwitzerlandNarrative, 2014, 12 min.

In a moment of anger a father loses patience and disciplines his disobedient child. When a shocked customer decides to intervene, the situation spirals out of control.About the DirectorChristophe M. Saber was born in Cairo and is of Egyptian/Swiss nationality. He graduated from American College in Cairo in 2009, after which he completed a short school of digital filmmaking in the U.S. before being admitted to the University of Arts and Design of Lausanne in their Cinema section. Discipline is his diploma film from that program. The film has garbed him worldwide recognition and numerous awards including The Audience and Young Jury Awards at the Brest European Short Film Festival, the Audience Award and Special Jury Mention at the Castellinaria Festival of Young Cinema, the Audience Award at the Leeds International Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Leuven International Short Film Festival, the Audience Award and Youth Audience Award at the Montpellier Mediterranean Short Film Festival and the Swiss Film Prize.

Marco Gadge came late to movie making. After training as a mechanic and employment as an excavator operator, he decided to take the ”long and weary road” to become a filmmaker. The short films and documentaries that he has created since that life change have screened at over sixty film festivals around the world. His short feature, The Package, won (among other awards) the main prize of the SCU Paris and the Gold Medal Brno. Er und Sie was last seen in competition at the Palm Springs International Shortfest.
