NFS2-8conventionalfire alarmpanels
systemsapplicationBeing designed and manufactured
to meet the European standards
EN54 parts 2 and 4, ensures that
the NFS2-8 is a high quality
product, which meets all safety,
environmental and fire regulations.
Weekly testing is very easy, simply
select the “Walk Test” function from
the front of the panel and it is a
one-man job.
In schools, nursing homes, shops,
B&B’s, etc an investigation time
before the premises are evacuated is
often required, if an alarm is raised
on the fire alarm panel. This
investigation time is to allow for
time to check whether the alarm
was a genuine fire or caused by
cigarette smoke, burnt toast,
hot works etc, thereby allowing
a correct decision, regarding
evacuation, to be made. This function
is provided through the “Day/Night
Mode” switching of the NFS2-8. This
can be done from either the front
of the panel or via one of the input
circuits, making it possible to link
this function to a key-switch or
security panel.
introductionThe NFS2-8 zone conventional fire
alarm panels have been developed
for both installers and end users
with efficiency in mind. They offer
a technically advanced range of
facilities and functions while
remaining easy to install, program
and operate. A full range of
conventional detectors, advanced
conventional detectors, beam
detectors, manual call points,
duct-mounting applications, audible
and visible devices complements
the NFS 2-8 series.
The NFS2-8 2, 4 or 8 zone
conventional fire alarm panels are
ideally suited for premises such as
offices, shop units, pubs, B&B’s,
clubs, small industrial units, nursing
homes, schools, etc offering a wide
range of benefits to installer and
end-users.

• Two digital inputs,configurable as:
•ÊDay/Night mode switching
•ÊClass change
•ÊAlert
•ÊEvacuate
•ÊReset in
•ÊFire transmission confirmed
•ÊFault transmission failed
these conditions. Should a fire or
a fault be raised on the NFS2-8,
optional fire and fault relays are
available for interfacing to the
overall fire alarm system.
In schools it is very often desirable
to use the fire alarm bells for class
change notification. Either of the
two input circuits on the NFS2-8
can be programmed to perform
this function, from either a manual
push button or via the school
master clock.
In premises consisting of two or
more buildings, interlinking of
the fire alarm systems may cause
difficulties. Using the NFS2-8
throughout those premises makes
it very simple to interlink fire alarm
systems. Simply configure one of the
input zones on the NFS2-8 as non-
latching, connect the zone to the
other panel’s relay output and vice
versa. Job done.
As the NFS2-8 will work with a
wide range of detectors, the panel
is also ideally suited for retrofit,
especially if the installation is to be
In most premises an alarm raised
from a manual call point over-rides
any delay. This can be achieved by
configuring any input zones on the
NFS2-8 to manual, causing
immediate evacuation from a
manual call point.
Where shop units, industrial units
etc are part of a larger complex
and not covered by the overall fire
alarm system, the NFS2-8 provides
the ability to interface with
the overall fire alarm system. By
configuring two of the inputs as
Alert and Evacuate, gives the overall
fire alarm system the possibility of
switching the NFS2-8 to either of
phased. The panel can be replaced
and at a later stage, or in stages,
the devices may be upgraded. If a
site is being upgraded, attention
to new standards should be taken
into account, in order to bring the
installation up to date, although the
zone may be configured for short
circuit alarm for compatibility with
old manual call points.
If the premises are unmanned during
the weekend they will always be
protected. The NFS2-8 has space to
store batteries with a capacity of up
to 72 hours standby, providing fire
cover should the mains power fail
during this period. Should a fire
break out during this period, the
NFS2-8 also has the facility of
providing a supervised output to
an auto-dialler or fire routing
equipment, ensuring that either
personnel from the premises or the
fire brigade are notified.
