ThePurposeByendorsingandsupportingqualityeducation,themembersoftheTony&LindaBonniciScholarshipFund(TLBSF)andNevadaBroadcastersFoundation(NVBF)arehelpingtoguaranteethefutureofbroadcastinginNevada.ThescopeoftheNVBFscholarshipfundencompassestheseareasofbroadcasting;Radio:SalesAccountExecutive,SalesManagement,Promotions,Programming/Music,Digital/Web,BusinessOffice,RemoteEngineering,EquipmentandDigitalTechnicians,ShowandCommercialProduction,ShowProducersandOn-AirTalent.Television:SalesAccountExecutive-OnAirandOnline,SalesManagement,CommunityPromotions,BusinessOffice,EquipmentandDigitalTechnicians,Digital/Web,SocialMedia,Graphics,CommercialProduction,PromotionWriter/Producer,NewsStudioProduction,NewscastProducers/Directors-On-AirandOnline,NewsAssignmentDesk,MediaManagement,MasterControlOperations,Reporters,Photojournalists,Editors,AnchorsandNewsManagement.Thepurposeis:▪ Tosupportpotentialandcommitmentinpromising

ToQualifyApplicantsmustmeetthesecriteria:▪ Nevadaresident;Mustsubmitproofofavalid

NevadaI.D.▪ AcceptedtoorattendingaNevadapost-secondary

institution(two-orfour-yearcollege);▪ Enrolledinabroadcastorrelatedcurriculumsuch

asbroadcastjournalism,broadcastaccounting,broadcastengineering,etc;

▪ Enrolledinatleast12credithours(full-time)eachsemesterthescholarshipisineffect;Seniorswhoneedlessthan12creditstograduateareexemptfromthisrule.

▪ Minimumcumulativegradepointaverageof2.7ona4.0scaleorequivalent;

▪ Applicationsignedbycollegeradio/TV/Journalism/MediaStudiesdepartmentheadorhighschoolcounselorcertifyingtheapplicantmeetstheeligibilitycriteria.

TheScholarshipTheNVBFmakesscholarshipawardsavailablefortuitiononlytoprospectivebroadcastingprofessionalsannually.Selectedapplicantswillreceiveafull-year(avalueofupto15creditspersemester)awardfortheirenrollmentinatwo-yearorfour-yearcollegeinabroadcastorrelatedprogram.RecipientsmustmaintainqualifyingcredithoursandGPAsemestertosemester.Scholarshipswillbepaidintwoinstallmentsdirectlytotheschoolregistrarfollowingfallandspringenrollment.Thespringinstallmentiscontingentonthestudentcontinuingtomeetthescholarshipcriteria.Classenrollmentswillbereviewedforprogramapplicability.Allawards,grantsand/orscholarshipswillbeconsideredwhendeterminingtheamountoftheaward.OthertuitiondrivenandMillenniumawardswillbeappliedtostudenttuitionfirst.TheNVBFawardwillpaytheremainderoftheuncoveredtuitioncostofupto15credits.RecipientswillbeencouragedtoparticipateinaninternshipataTVorradiostation.Internshipwillbeflexibleaccordingtotherecipient’sschoolschedule.Recipientswillbeencouragedtovolunteeratseveralfundraisingeventsheldthroughouttheyear.

SelectionCriteria Theselectioncommitteewillconsiderdepthofthought,clarityofexpressionandcommitmenttobroadcastingastheprimarycriteria.Extracurricularactivities,communityandpublicinvolvement,andotherinterestswillalsobeconsidered.Industryneedformanagement,sales,marketing,technicalandengineeringprofessionalsmaybeconsideredwhenselectingtherecipients.Financialneedmaybeconsidered,butisnotrequiredforeligibility;applicantsareaskedtoindicatehowtheireducationisbeingfunded.Submituptothreelettersofrecommendation.Pleasenote:previousrecipientsdonotneedtosubmitrecommendationletters.
