The Cavaliers are coming off a 35-24 season and have high expectations for this team. With several key players returning and a strong group of freshmen, the Cavaliers are preparing to make another run at a Region IV Championship.

“I like this team defensively and that will be a key to our success,” says head coach Todd Post. “We have 7 position players back that saw significant action last year as freshmen. Their experience will make a difference early in the season. We will be able to score runs in different ways and compete on the mound.”

Jake Stewart (.356 BA 45R 19 2B 1 3B 42 RBI 13 SB) will patrol center field and lead off. Josh Bergbreiter (.286 BA 33R 7 2B 2 3B 1 HR 29 RBI 14 SB) will hit 2nd and play second base. Matt Littrell, a red shirt freshman who missed last season with a knee injury could hit 3rd and play short stop. Danny Brokop (.333 BA 40 R 14 2B 2 3B 3 HR 34 RBI) will hit clean-up for the Cavaliers. There is some flexibility with freshman Thomas Wolken, catchers Vincent Surdo (.239 BA 11 R 4 2B 5 RBI) or Chase Gadau in the 5 hole. Sophomore Drew Schrodt OF (.231 BA 23 R 4 2B 1 HR 15 RBI) is ready for a break out year offensively. Sophomores Tristan Walters 3B (.261 BA 29 R 6 2B 15 RBI), Brandon Gallinger OF (.241 BA 41 R 16 RBI), and Jay Eshleman INF (.244 BA 7R 1 2B 8 RBI) also will see plenty of action.

Freshman Alex Mandeville OF/INF, Nick Albanese OF, Nolan Strzok OF,

Carlo Falcioni INF, and Ryen Millsap C/3B round out the position players. We have good depth in the infield and outfield and these freshmen are competing for playing time and will be contributors to our success.

The pitching staff has 3 returners and many new faces. Brock Immke (66 IP W-3 L-6 66 H 4.36 ERA 53 SO 21 BB) will anchor the pitching staff while Tristan Walters (23 IP W-3 L-3 23 H 5.48 ERA 17 K 11 BB) transitions from closer to starter this season. Cody Trost (W-1 L-0 25 IP) gained valuable experience last year and will pitch out of the bull pen.

Freshmen Daniel Tenayuca, Devin Peters, Waylon Richardson, Caleb Matthews, and Tyler McCormick are competing for innings in the starting rotation. Carlo Falcioni, Nolan Strzok, TJ Fuller, Nick Albanese, Zach Capps, Michael Hirt, and Luke Yaekel are all options out of the bull pen.

“We have good depth on our pitching staff and it will be important to get them opportunities to see who emerges from this group as the season goes on,” says Coach Post. “We will go as far as our pitching staff takes us in the post season. The success of our bull pen will play a huge role in our team’s overall success.

Our goal is to win 40 games and compete for a Region IV Championship which we fell short of last season. I look for us to be playing good, consistent baseball and prepared for the tournament that starts the second week of May.”

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTWelcome Kankakee Community Col-

lege student athletes, parents, Cavalier

supporters and fans!

There is excitement and energy as

we prepare for another year at KCC,

and we are so happy to have all of you

along for the journey. Each of our men’s

and women’s teams had a successful

year in 2014-2015, and a few had

extraordinary accomplishments. Cav-

alier teams and players from last year

experienced successful winning seasons, national (NJCAA) rankings and

tournament appearances, All-Americans and Academic All-Americans,

a MLB 2015 draft pick, numerous All-Tournament players, a NJCAA

Hall of Fame induction, a National Tournament MVP, and our KCC

women’s softball team was your NJCAA Division II National Champion.

It was an amazing year for KCC, our teams, and our players. Even more

amazing was watching the continued development, academically and

personally, of our student athletes.

The 2015-2016 year also promises to be an exciting one for our

teams and our players. I am proud of the role KCC plays in the overall growth of our student athletes, and equally proud of how our Cavalier teams represent our excellent institution. The student athletes of KCC live our motto to Start Here – Finish Anywhere. It is my firm belief that education is the key to all of our life successes, and I remain commit-ted to our mission to develop leaders. Our athletic program, and each sport, begins with the strong dedication of our complete coaching staff and are supported by the KCC Board of Trustees and our community. As parents and educators, we pledge to join your efforts to provide encour-agement and support to our student athletes.

I wish our student athletes success both as a student and an athlete at Kankakee Community College. It is an honor to be part of the Cavalier family, and I would like to thank the parents of our student athletes, each member of the coaching staff, and the members of our Cavalier Club who help to support our athletic teams. Please join the Board of Trustees, myself, faculty, staff and all Cavalier fans in wishing each of our teams and coaches a successful season. I challenge everyone to come out and watch our teams play.

Go Cavs!

Bats: Left • Throws: LeftHeight: 6’3” • Weight: 190

Hometown: Greenwood, Ind. • High School: Roncalli

Caleb is a tall, long, left handed pitcher that has a high ceiling. With a prototypical pitcher’s body, Caleb’s success will be determined by commanding his pitches. He hides the ball well and has three pitches that he can throw for strikes. He could be working both in the starting rotation and in the bullpen in 2016.
