2015 Big South Preseason Poll• For the second straight year, the Liberty Flames have been selected to win the Big South Conference title in the 2015 Big South Preseason Poll by the conference’s head coaches.• Flames 1B Alex Close was also selected as the Big South Preseason Player of the Year.• Liberty received eight fi rst-place votes and garnered 116 points in being tabbed to rest atop the Big South standings at year’s end and claim the conference’s title.• The Flames fi nished ahead of High Point, who was selected to fi nish second in the preseason poll. Flames on the Road• Liberty split a four-game road trip to move its 2015 road record to 5-6.• Liberty opened the 2015 with six straight games away from Lynchburg, Va. The Flames played four away games and two neutral site games during the stretch. Liberty started the season-opening stretch by posting a 3-3 record.• Liberty posted a 19-13 record away from home in 2014. The Flames went 14-8 in away contests and 5-5 in neutral site games.

Liberty Baseball Stadium - Ranked as One of the Best Stadium Experiences• Liberty will completed a six-game homestand with a 9-7 win over Old Dominion, Tuesday. The Flames fi nished the homestand with a 4-2 mark and are now 13-4 at Liberty Baseball Stadium in 2015.• Liberty set a new single-game stadium attendance record, drawing 2,841 for its contest with Virginia on March 25th. The mark eclipses the previous record of 2,792 fans for the Flames contest with VMI On April 4, 2014.• The Liberty Baseball Stadium was ranked as one of the Top 100 stadium experiences of 2014 by Stadium Journey. The home of the Liberty baseball program was listed No. 52. Close Named Big South Player of the Week• Senior Alex Close was named the Big South Player of the Weekfor March 22-29.

• The fi rst baseman hit .500 (10-for-20) with two home runs, nineRBI and seven runs scored in fi ve games last week. He recorded three doubles.• Close collected a hit in each of Liberty’s fi ve contests, including four multi-hit games.

• The 2015 Big South Preseason Player of the Year started theweek with two hits, a double, a run scored and a walk againstDuke. The following afternoon against No. 12 Virginia, the fi rstbaseman collected three hits, two RBI and scored a run.

• In a three-game series against Presbyterian this past week- end, Close batted .385 with seven RBI and fi ve runs scored.

• Friday, he tied a career high with six RBI, hitting two homeruns, one a grand slam, in a 9-5 win. Saturday, he had a RBI

double in a 4-1 victory and Sunday, he had two hits and scored three runs in a 9-3 Flames’ win.

• Sankey enters the weekend with eight home runs to lead the Flamesand is tied for second in the Big South in the category.• Sankey was named the Big South Player of the Week for the opening weekend of the 2015 season, after batting .500 (4-for-8) with two home runs, fi ve RBI and four runs scored in three games.• On Feb. 14, Sankey did not start game one of a doubleheaderagainst Georgia State, but made an appearance in the ninth inning. With two outs and the Flames trailing, 6-3, Sankey belted a pinch hit, three-run home run on a 1-2 pitch to tie the game. Liberty went on to win in 11 innings, 11-7.• Sankey collected three hits, two home runs and a double, and drove in a career-high fi ve runs in Liberty’s win at Virginia Tech, March 17. He also scored a career-high three times. One of his home runs was the fi rst grand slam of his career.
