Completing one year of work on Boeing KC-46 with Cobham

2013 was an exciting year for Atkins’ aerospace team in North America, and as we head into 2014 we look back on some of the year’s big highlights.

Atkins has worked with Airbus North America since 2008. In the last year, our work has expanded to include wingbox assessment of the A330, and rib design and analysis on A320 NEO.

In November, Atkins’ work on the A400M & A350 was recognized with a Quality award from Airbus. Over 150 staff contributed to the design and analysis of the composite wings.

Our office in Kirkland, WA opened in July 2011. Since then, we’ve grown our team to over 70 direct hires with a breadth of expertise in composite and metallic structures.

In November 2012, Atkins was appointed by Cobham to support design of the Boeing KC-46 body fuel tank. One year on, the scope of our work has increased, with a 65-strong global team working on the project during the design phase.

As part of Atkins’ Corporate Social Responsibility program, our graduate engineers took part in a careers night at a Seattle elementary school to get kids excited about a future in aerospace engineering.
