He is usually available Monday through Friday morn-ings or before practice. The men’s tennis team practices daily between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m. Player interviews may be conducted before or after practice. Practice schedules may change at any time due to travel and class schedules.

Ole Miss student-athletes not only have the opportunity to play in one of the best conferences in the nation, they also at-tend a university that is world-renowned for its academics. The Office of Student-Athlete Academic Support has made great strides in improving the environment for Ole Miss stu-dent-athletes. Numerous full-time academic counselors, learn-ing specialists and tutors, and the $5 million FedEx Academic Support Center, completed in May 2007, provides the perfect environment for learning. Last year, the Rebels earned the ITA All-Academic Team Award for the sixth time. The award is given to teams who achieve at least a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. The team also earned the Chancellor’s Cup for the eighth straight year as the men’s varsity team at Ole Miss with the highest GPA. Adrian Forberg Skogeng was named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District First Team and joined Chris Thiemann and Marcel Thiemann as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Senior Kalle Norberg graduated from the University of Mis-sissippi with a degree in Hospitality Management. With Ole Miss athletics taking its place among the best in the nation, the Student-Athlete Academic Support staff hopes that Ole Miss graduates of today have a great impact in the future of tomorrow.

SENIOR KALLE NORBERGwho graduated in May, was one of six Rebels named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2011.

In 2011 the Rebels earned the prestigious ITA All-Academic Team Award for the sixth time. The award goes to teams who achieve at least a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Regarded as one of the world’s top sporting traditions, tail-gating on football Saturdays at Ole Miss is one of those ac-tivities that every sports fan should take the opportunity to indulge in at some point in their life. Ten acres of lush green grass, watched over by majestic oak trees in the middle of the Ole Miss campus, are transformed from a tranquil pic-nic spot into tailgating paradise when thousands of football fans crowd into every corner of the land. Weaving through the myriad of red and blue tents, one is bound to encounter a few of the most extravagant set-ups in all of tailgating - fine china, chandeliers, big-screen satellite TVs. Billy Chadwick, who begins his 30th season with the Rebel men’s tennis program, ranks as one of the top col-legiate head coaches and is recognized as one of the most successful head coaches in the history of Ole Miss sports. For his contributions to the world of tennis as both a player and a coach, Chadwick was inducted into the Mis-sissippi Sports Hall of Fame in July of 2006. In January of 2011, Chadwick was inducted into the Mississippi Tennis Hall of Fame. With his fifth SEC Championship in 2009, Chadwick now trails only legendary Ole Miss football coach John Vaught in SEC titles won. Vaught won six conference titles in 1947, 1954, 1955, 1960, 1962 and 1963. A Mississippi native, Chadwick is one of only 10 ac-tive Division I men’s tennis coaches to have led a team to the NCAA Championship Finals. Furthermore, he is one of only five active Division I coaches to have taken his team to three or more NCAA Final Fours. In his tenure at Ole Miss, he has led the Rebels to the NCAA Championships 20 times, and the Rebels have become a mainstay among the elite teams in the national rankings.

Chadwick began his coaching career at Ole Miss as the women’s tennis coach, laying the foundation for the excellent team they have today. In 1982, he led the Lady Rebels to the SEC finals, AIAW Nationals and the program’s first top 20 national ranking. In 1983, he took over the men’s program, that at the time was last in the conference. In 29 years at the helm, the program has grown to unprecedented heights, winning SEC and NCAA Championships. The 2011 season saw the Rebels earn the pro-gram’s 18th consecutive NCAA appearance. Marcel Thiemann reached the NCAA singles quarterfinals for the second year in a row and earned All-America honors again. Tucker Vorster joined Thiemann on the All-SEC Team again. Chadwdick did perhaps his finest coaching job in 2010 as the Rebels lost four starters from the 2009 SEC Champion squad, including NCAA Champion Devin Britton. Furthermore, senior Kalle Norberg was lost for the year with an injury. The Rebels captured their ninth consecutive SEC West Championship, advanced to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament, made their 17th straight NCAA appear-

ance and ended the year ranked No. 19 nationally. Indi-vidually, Marcel Thiemann became the 25th All-American reaching the NCAA singles quarterfinals. The 2009 season was a remarkable year for the Rebels on and off the hard courts. Ole Miss won the over-all SEC Championship after going undefeated, repeated as SEC Tournament Champion and won its eighth straight SEC West title. The Rebels finished the year ranked No. 4 in the nation, advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight. Mis-sissippi native Devin Britton became the youngest player ever and the first Ole Miss player to win the NCAA Singles Championship. Individual honors included three All-Ameri-cans and five All-SEC selections. Chadwick was named the USPTA National College Coach of the Year and earned his third SEC Coach of the Year honor. Off the court, Bram ten Berge was named the Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-

Athlete of the Year as the top male student-athlete in the entire conference. He also received an NCAA Postgradu-ate Scholarship. In 2008, the Rebels won the SEC West title and captured the SEC Tournament Championship. A record five Rebels were named to the All-SEC team. Ole Miss advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the eighth time and ended the year ranked No. 6 in the nation. Erling Tveit and Jonas Berg teamed up to advance to the finals of the NCAA Doubles Championship, while teammates Bram ten Berge and Matthias Wellermann reached the semifi-nals. All four earned All-America honors. Off the court, the Rebels received the ITA All-Academic Team Award (awarded to teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale) for the second year in a row. Ole Miss was one of only two teams to finish the sea-son ranked among the top 10 and receive this distinction. In 2007, the Rebels advanced to the NCAA Final 16 and ended the season ranked No. 7 in the nation. The team captured the SEC West title, finished second over-all in the conference standings and advanced to the SEC Tournament final. Erling Tveit, Eric Claesson and Robbye Poole earned All-America honors. Tveit and Poole were joined on the All-SEC team by Jonas Berg and Kalle Nor-berg. Off the court, the Rebels earned the prestigious ITA All-Academic Team Award. The Rebels were the only team in Division I men’s tennis to finish the 2007 season ranked among the top 10 nationally and earn this distinc-tion. Furthermore, they were one of only two teams in the top 20 (along with Duke) to achieve this accomplishment. Chadwick has taken the Rebels to one of the coun-try’s top programs, and 1995 will be remembered as the benchmark year for the Rebels when they advanced to the finals of the NCAA Team Championships and claimed the

NCAA Doubles Championship. The Rebels built on the momen-tum, winning the program’s first ever SEC Championship in 1996. The 1997 team became the second Rebel squad to advance to the NCAA Final Four and repeated as SEC Champions. Ole Miss closed out the 20th cen-tury with an outstanding year in 1999, capturing the SEC regular season title, advancing to the NCAA Final Four for the third time, and ending the year ranked No. 3 in the nation. The 21st century has seen the Rebels maintain their excellence on and off the court. Chadwick marked his 20th year with the program in 2002, as the Rebels captured the SEC Western Division title and advanced to the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen.” The following year

(2003), the Rebels repeated as SEC West Champions and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight. In 2004, the Rebels captured the overall SEC Cham-pionship and won their third consecutive SEC Western Division title. The Rebels enjoyed one of the finest campaigns in the history of Ole Miss sports in 2005, advancing to the NCAA Final Four, capturing the overall SEC Championship for the second straight year as well as the SEC West title. The Rebels ended the year ranked No. 3 in the nation, marking the sixth top-five finish in 10 years. Catalin Gard spent 24 weeks at No.1 in the nation in singles and be-came the second Rebel to earn All-America honors three years, finishing with 112 career victories. Gard was joined on the All-SEC team by Erling Tveit and Karim Alayli. The 2006 season saw the Rebels advance to the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen.” The team captured its fifth con-secutive SEC Western Division Championship, finished second in the overall SEC standings and advanced to the SEC Tournament final for the third time. Erling Tveit, an NCAA singles semifinalist, and Eric Claesson, earned All-America as well as All-SEC first team honors. Bram ten Berge was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Juan Pablo Di Cesare was a recipient of an SEC Com-munity Service Postgraduate Scholarship. Both ten Berge and Di Cesare were named to the All-SEC second team. Chadwick received SEC Coach of the Year honors in 1996, 2004 and 2009, and was selected ITA Southeast Region Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2008. He was also selected USPTA Southern Division Coach of the Year in 1995, 2002 and 2004 and Mississippi Tennis Association Coach of the Year in 1994, 1995 and 1997. While Chadwick’s teams have ranked among the nation’s elite, they have been just as impressive off the

year in a row. The cup is awarded each year to the men’s and women’s varsity sports with the highest cumulative grade point average. Individually, the Rebels have had four national CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and numerous ITA Scholar-Athletes. Bram ten Berge became the second Rebel to win an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, joining former All-American Alex Hartman, who received one in 2003. The Rebel mentor has coached 66 All-SEC picks, 88 Academic All-SEC honorees, 25 All-Americans and 25 Academic All-Americans. Chadwick served as tournament director for the Boys’ 18 National Interscholastic Championships, the only USTA national junior tournament held in Mississippi from 1993-97. He also served as tournament director for the 1993 and 1994 SkyTel National Collegiate Clay Court Championships, once part of the Collegiate Grand Slam and the largest ITA tournament that com-bined both men and women. He also served as Intersectional Coach for the Southern Tennis As-sociation, leading his team to a National Championship in 1988. Chadwick holds a Masters in Business Administration (1981) from the University of Mississippi. He received his undergraduate degree in business from Belhaven College in 1974, where he was a four-year letterwinner in ten-nis. In 2000, Chadwick was inducted into the Belhaven Hall of Fame. Not only is Toby Hansson an accomplished player, but he is one of the top young coaches in the United States. Now in his sixth year with the Rebels, Hansson has helped the Rebels maintain their tradition of excellence on the court and continue bringing in top-notch talent to the program. Last year, Hansson helped coach the Rebels to their 18th consecutive NCAA appear-ance. Marcel Thiemann advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second straight year and teamed with his brother, Chris, to end the year ranked No. 11 in doubles. In 2010, Hansson helped coach Ole Miss to its ninth con-secutive SEC West title and 17th straight NCAA appearance. Marcel Thiemann advanced to the NCAA singles quarterfinals and became the 25th All-American in the his-tory of the program. Hansson coached Marcel and his brother, Chris, to a top 10 national doubles ranking and a 10-1 record in the SEC at No. 1. For his achievements, Hansson was honored as the ITA Southern Region Assis-tant Coach of the Year. In 2009, Hansson helped direct the Rebels to the SEC regular season championship, their second con-secutive SEC Tournament Championship and their eighth

straight SEC West title. The Rebels ended the year ranked No. 4 in the nation. A finalist for the ITA Southeast Re-gion Assistant Coach of the Year, Hansson coached NCAA Singles Champion Devin Britton, and Jonas Berg and Bram ten Berge, who spent 14 weeks at No. 1 in the nation. In his second season (2008), Hansson helped guide the Rebels to the SEC West title, the SEC Tournament Championship, the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national

ranking of No. 6. Hansson helped coach four Rebels to All-America honors and five players to All-SEC honors. He coached Erling Tveit and Jonas Berg, who advanced to the NCAA Doubles Championship Final as well as Semifinalists Bram ten Berge and Matthias Wellermann. In his first season with the Reb-els (2007), Hansson helped guide the team to the SEC West title, the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen” and a final

national ranking of No. 7. He helped coach three players to All-America honors and four to All-SEC accolades. Hansson, a native of Bjärred, Sweden, was an as-sistant coach at Texas Tech in 2004-05, where he helped lead the Red Raiders to the NCAA Final 16 and their best season ever. The team finished with a 25-4 record, and was ranked as high as No. 9 in the country at one point during the year.

Prior to his stint at Texas Tech, Hansson played pro-fessionally on the ATP Tour in Europe, North and Central America and Asia. One of the top collegiate players during his career at SMU, Hansson earned All-America honors in singles and doubles. As captain of the team in 2000, he was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and first team all-conference for both singles and doubles. During his career, Hansson was ranked as high as No. 2 in the country in doubles and No. 13 in singles for the Mustangs. He led the Mustangs to two WAC champion-ships, three consecutive NCAA “Sweet Sixteen” appear-ances and two top-15 national finishes. Hansson graduated from SMU in 2000 with a B.A. in International Studies. He received his masters in In-ternational Studies from Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden, in June of 2006.

Lynnette Johnson is in her 22nd year overall with Ole Miss Athletics. Currently, she is in her 13th year as a Sport Administrator and Senior Woman Administrator. She is the Sport Administrator for eight intercollegiate programs, which include: soccer, volleyball, rifle, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf and tennis. She also handles multiple internal and external operations involving all sports programs and several departments. During her first nine years, Johnson was a member of the Sports Medicine staff. She became the first female head athletic trainer in the Southeastern Conference in 1997. During her 13 years as a sport administrator, the programs that she has worked with have been very successful. Collectively, they have won three SEC Regular Season titles, 14 Western Division titles, three SEC Tournament titles and made over 30 NCAA tournament appearances; which include several Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight and Final Four appearances. Individual student-athlete accomplishments have been just as impressive with multiple All-America honors, SEC Champions, NCAA Champions and two Olympians. Johnson is also responsible for coordinating and bidding all NCAA and SEC postsea-

son events held on campus. Ole Miss has hosted SEC men’s and women’s tennis, track and field, cross country, softball and soccer and is scheduled to host the SEC Women’s Tennis Championship in April 2012. The NCAA has also found a home at Ole Miss, hosting men’s and women’s tennis regionals, five baseball regionals and three baseball super regionals. Academically, the teams are excelling in the classroom as well; putting up high gradu-ation rates, multiple Academic All-America honors and Taylor Medalists, as well as the first athlete to be inducted into the school’s Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society chapter. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native is a 1988 graduate of East Carolina University and a 1990 graduate of Ole Miss with a master’s degree in Education. She is married to Tal Johnson and the couple has two daughters, Alexandria and Samantha.

Ole Miss head coach Billy Chadwick has been look-ing forward to the 2012 season since last year and with good reason. The Rebels boast a talented lineup that he says has an opportunity to put Ole Miss back in the thick of the SEC race and the national spotlight. “Our goals are to win a championship, and to do that, we’ve got to get up in the top five. If you look at the SEC, we’ve got four teams in the top 10 in the country and eight teams in the top 30. It’s really loaded. Not any different than it’s always been,” Chadwick said. “We’ve got a lot of experience back from last year’s team and we have a couple of newcomers who are really going to make a big difference. We feel like we’re going to be right in the thick of things.” The Rebels return five of the top seven from last year led by the senior twin duo of Marcel Thiemann and Chris Thiemann. Joining them are veterans Adrian Forberg Skogeng Jonas Lutjen and Johan Backstrom. Leading the list of highly touted freshmen is South African Nik Scholtz and Sweden’s William Kallberg. Eng-land’s Joe Rogers and Oxford native Zach Wilder round out the team. In the team’s final individual tournament of the season, the SEC Indoor Championships, the Rebels showed they will be a team to contend with this year in the SEC as well as on the national level. The Thiemann’s cap-tured the doubles title, while Scholtz joined Lutjen in the semifinals of singles. Kallberg reached the quarterfinals including a win over the nation’s No.3 ranked player. During the Thiemann’s career at Ole Miss, the Reb-els have won the SEC Championship, the SEC Tournament Championship and two SEC West titles. Together, they form one of the top doubles teams in the nation. They are both excited about the season and looking forward to

hoisting more trophies. “We want to win the NCAA Championship,” Marcel said. “And, we want to win another SEC Championship and SEC Tournament title,” Chris added. Marcel Thiemann has established himself as one of the top players in the SEC and the nation. The two-time All-American reached the NCAA Singles Quar-terfinals in 2011 for the second year in a row and was named the ITA Southern Region Player to Watch. Steady as a rock, Chris Thiemann has clinched many big wins for the Rebels including the SEC West Championship victory against Alabama in 2010 and last year's win over Florida on the road. “Marcel and Chris have both been on an SEC Championship team. They’ve been ranked as high as No. 2 in the nation in doubles. They’ve participated in the NCAA Doubles Championship, as well as Marcel making the NCAA final eight two years in a row in singles. They know what it’s all about. We are going to be relying heavily on their senior leadership,” said Chadwick, the dean of SEC coaches now in his 30th year with the men’s team. One of the most improved players in the SEC, junior Jonas Lutjen has experience playing in the top half of the lineup the last two years and this past fall, reached the finals of the ITA Southern Region. “He is playing lights out. He’s going to be one of those secret weapons,” said Chadwick of Lutjen. He’s played three for us and been very successful, but now he could be the top player at his position in the league.” Another player who has made tremendous strides since last year is sophomore Johan Backstrom. The Swede gained valuable experience as a freshman in 2010 and proved in the fall, that he is ready to take his game to the next level teaming with Lutjen to capture the ITA Southern Regional Doubles title as well posting a 7-3 re-

cord in singles. “Johan is one of the most improved players on the team and he showed that with his results in the fall. We expect him to have a big year for us in both singles and doubles,” Chadwick said. Another returning player who gives the Rebels added depth is junior Adrian Forberg Skogeng, who has provided some clinching wins during his career. “Adrian is an outstanding competitor who works hard. He has provided us with some key wins, and we look for him to provide leadership,” Chadwick said. Chadwick loves to talk about the influx of talented freshmen who have joined the team and says fans can expect them to make an immediate impact. As evidenced by his performance at the SEC In-door, Nik Scholtz, who earned a No. 5 ranking in the ITA Newcomers National Rankings at the start of the year, is going to be one of the top players in the conference. He was the No. 1 ranked junior in South Africa and achieved a career high of No. 22 in the International Tennis Fed-eration (ITF) World Junior Rankings. Scholtz also earned a career-high No. 6 ranking in the South African men’s rankings. “Nik is one of the top prospects in the country. He’s very talented and an impact player who is going to come in and help us in singles and doubles,” Chadwick said. “He’s got the ability to position himself as one of the top players in the conference. He’s got good size, a great serve and great mobility. He has the intangibles. He loves to compete and he’s a winner.” Joe Rogers was here in the fall and is an accom-plished player who will help bolster the future of the team on and off the courts. “Joe is an excellent tennis player as well as an excellent student,” Chadwick said. “By coincidence, his

father had attended the Faulkner Conference and had a very favorable opinion of Oxford and the University. This, along with our excellent program, definitely helped shape his decision to play tennis at Ole Miss.” Less than a week after joining the team, William Kallberg made headlines around the league with his play at the SEC Indoor. One of the top junior players in Swe-den, Kallberg made it to the quarterfinals of the Swedish National Championships. “We’re very excited William has joined our pro-gram,” Chadwick said. “He’s an excellent student as well as tennis player. He possesses a big serve and big fore-hand and has lots of potential.”

Zach Wilder rounds out the freshmen class. The four-time Mississippi State Champion will likely redshirt this year, but Chadwick is excited about his future with the program. “Zach is doing great. We knew coming in that we would probably redshirt him and that’s the plan we’re go-ing to stick with. He has a big future ahead of him. He’s really talented. For him to be able to practice with the guys every day and get that quality of practice in is a big plus. His dad (former All-American at Alabama) and [high school coach] Louis Nash have done a great job with him. He’s getting much stronger from his work in the weight room too.” Not only are the prospects for the team a reason for excitement in 2012, but the renovation/expansion of the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center is slated to be finished in February. Through the generosity of former player Will Galtney, the tennis center is nearing completion on major improvements to what is already considered one of the nation’s finest facilities. In recognition of his donation, the courts will be named the William F. Galtney Jr., Tennis

Courts. Improvements to the tennis center include the ad-dition of more spectator seating and enhancements to the locker rooms, study areas and coaches’ offices. “The new facility is something that all of Ole Miss will be really proud of. We did a lot of work in making sure that we were able to keep that feel of the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center as far as being so fan friendly,” Chadwick said. “The improvements will have a huge impact on the day-to-day experience of the student-athlete. We will have a team meeting room, a place where they can lounge, do homework and hang out at the tennis center. It will be one of the finest in the country. “The Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center is one of the prettiest settings in the nation. It’s located in the heart of campus and surrounded by beautiful magnolia trees. People are going to appreciate the additional roof-top viewing opportunities on the left and the right side of the main stadium.” Highlighted by six Southeastern Conference matches and one against 2011 NCAA Finalist Virginia, Ole Miss will play nine home matches in 2012 including eight at the newly expanded Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. The Rebels begin the season Jan. 26 hosting Southern Miss at the Gillom Sports Center. Participating in the ITA Kickoff Weekend for the fourth year in a row, the Rebels will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to face Oklahoma, who began the spring ranked No. 18 in the nation. Tennessee and Michigan State make up the rest of the four-team regional with the winner ad-vancing to the National Team Indoor Feb. 17-20 in Char-lottesville, Va. “We get started early with a challenging first round match against No.18 Oklahoma. Many people feel they’re

a top 10 team. It’s a great opportunity for us.” The annual River Hills Mississippi Cup against Mis-sissippi State takes place on Feb. 9 in Jackson, Miss. Ole Miss has won 12 straight in that annual battle at River Hills Tennis Club. The Rebels will kick off the outdoor season Feb. 28 with a match against Memphis. Southeastern Conference play begins the first weekend in March with the Rebels hosting Auburn (March 2) and Alabama (March 4). Ole Miss will welcome last year’s NCAA Runner-up, Virginia on March 7. “This is one of the biggest non-con-ference matches around the country, and we’re excited the match will be played in Oxford,” Chadwick said. Following the Virginia match, the Rebels will hit the road for a pair of matches against SEC East foes Ten-nessee (March 9) and Georgia (March 11). The Rebels will play at South Carolina on March 23 before returning home for a big match against Florida on March 25. Ar-kansas comes to town on March 30, while LSU visits on April 1. The Rebels’ final road trip includes matches at Vanderbilt (April 6) and Kentucky (April 8) before return-ing home to close out the regular season with arch-rival Mississippi State on April 14. The SEC Championship will be in Starkville April 19-22. The NCAA first and second rounds take place May 11-12 at 16 different sites, and the NCAA Final 16 returns to Athens, Ga. May 17-22.

REBELS EARNS 18TH STRAIGHT NCAA BID18TH STRAIGHT NCAA APPEARANCE

Ole Miss earned its 18th consecutive NCAA appearance and 20th overall in 2011. The Rebels defeated UC Irvine 4-1 in the first round before falling to UCLA (4-3) in a hard fought decision in Los Angeles. Four matches were decided in three sets. The Rebels built a 3-1 lead before seeing the Bruins storm back to win it. The match came down to No. 5 singles, where Bruin senior Holden Seguso rallied against Ole Miss freshman Johan Backstrom to clinch the victory in a third set tiebreaker, 7-6(4). Back-strom won the first set 6-4, but Seguso came into the match with just four losses on the season. He took the second set 6-3 and gained a 5-3 lead in the third, before Backstrom won two straight games to even it up at 5-5.

FINAL EIGHTJunior Marcel Thiemann advanced to the NCAA Quarter-finals in singles for the second straight year. Thiemann defeated two top ranked opponents on his way to the quarterfinals. In the second round, Thiemann erased four match points to defeat the nation’s No. 6 ranked player.

STREAK ENDS AT NINEOle Miss’ streak of SEC West Championships ended at nine, as the Rebels finished third in the West. The Rebels had won the West every year since the league split into divisions in 2002.

HE’S AN ALL-AMERICANMarcel Thiemann earned All-America honors again after reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals in singles. The Rebels have had at least one All-American nine consecutive years and 15 of the past 17 years.

NATIONAL RANKINGSOle Miss ended the 2011 season ranked No. 28 in the nation, marking the first time in 18 years that the team did not finish the year ranked inside the Top 25. Marcel Thiemann concluded the season ranked No. 27 in singles and No. 11 in doubles with his brother, Chris Thiemann. Tucker Vorster finished ranked No. 56 in singles.

ALL-SECMarcel Thiemann and Tucker Vorster earned All-SEC hon-ors in 2011. Thiemann made the first team again, while Vorster was named to the second team for the second year in a row. The Rebels have had a player named All-SEC 18 straight years.

REBELS EARN SOUTHERN REGION AWARDSSenior Tucker Vorster and junior Marcel Thiemann both earned ITA Southern Region awards in 2011. Vorster received the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportmanship and Leader-ship Award. This award recognizes outstanding individu-als who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and

leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and ten-nis achievements. Thiemann earned the Southern Region Player to Watch Award, which goes to a player who has had an outstanding season and is expected to perform at a high level the rest of his or her career.

500 AND COUNTINGRebel head coach Billy Chadwick earned his 500th career coaching victory as the men’s coach with a 6-1 win over Tulane on Feb. 26. Chadwick began his career as the head coach of the Ole Miss women’s team in 1979, and began coaching the men in 1982. In 2010, he got his 600th overall coaching win.

ANOTHER COACHING HONOR FOR CHADWICKOle Miss head coach Billy Chadwick earned another coaching honor in 2011, as he was inducted into the Mississippi Tennis Hall of Fame.

TENNIS CENTER PLACE TO BEOle Miss ranked among the nation’s attendance leaders for the fourth consecutive year, finishing fifth in total at-tendance and second in average attendance. The reno-vations to the tennis center and the addition of covered areas on top of the new buildings, will allow for more fans to view the exciting action.

TOPS IN THE CLASSROOMThe Rebels continued their tradition of excellence in the classroom in 2011 earning the prestigious ITA All-Academic Team Award for the sixth time in the history of the program. This award honors teams with outstand-ing academic achievements, requiring a minimum overall 3.2 grade point average to be considered. The Rebels finished the year with a 3.42 GPA. The Rebels were one of four Southeastern Conference schools to receive this award.

CHANCELLOR’S CUPFor the eighth year in a row, the Rebels won the Chan-cellor’s Cup at the University of Mississippi. The cup is awarded each year to the men’s and women’s varsity

sports with the highest cumulative grade point average.

ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICTSophomore Adrian Forberg Skogeng was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District At-Large First Team for District VI, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Forberg Skogeng owns a 3.92 cumula-tive grade point average. To be nominated for the team, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 or better cumulative GPA and be in their second year both competitively and academically at a school.

ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETESMarcel Thiemann, Chris Thiemann and Adrian Forberg Skogeng were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association

(ITA) Scholar-Athletes for the 2010-11 academic year. Both the Thiemann’s posted a 3.80 GPA last year, includ-ing a perfect 4.0 in the spring to receive the honor for the second year in a row. Forberg Skogeng earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition for the third time with a 3.80 for the year. To be eligible for ITA Scholar-Athlete recogni-tion student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the year.

AN ELITE CATEGORYProving that one can be successful on and off the court, Marcel Thiemann was one of only nine players in the na-tion to earn All-America honors and be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

A strong doubles player, Jamie Booras, nicknamed “Boom-Boom” for his powerful serve, became one of the school’s first tennis All-Americans in 1988. He earned the honors in doubles as a freshman. He and Dave Randall reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship in 1988 and were ranked in the top 10 in doubles for two

years. In addition, Booras was named to the All-SEC Team in 1988. Booras is currently in private business in Dallas, Texas.

DAVE RANDALL1988

Dave Randall put Ole Miss tennis in the national spotlight with a combination of stellar play and outstanding sportsman-ship. For this, in 1989, he received the Rafael Osuna Sports-manship Award, the NCAA’s yearly award presented to the most outstanding collegiate tennis player that demonstrates both great skill and exemplifies sportsmanship.

The Mississippi native was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference selection and an All-America honoree in doubles. He teamed with Jamie Booras to earn a top 10 rank-ing two years and reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships in 1988. He, joined Booras as the first tennis All-Americans at the University. He won three SEC titles in his career at Ole Miss: the 1988 #1 singles crown, the 1987 indoor #2 doubles and the 1986 #3 doubles. In addition, Randall earned Academic All-SEC honors in 1987 and 1988. Randall is the Head Pro at River Hills Club in Jackson, Miss.

NICK BARONE1991

Nick Barone became the third All-America tennis player in Ole Miss history. He was ranked as high as No. 5 in the national rankings and earned runner-up honors in the National Clay Court Championships his senior year. In 1991, Barone represented the Rebels in the NCAA Tournament. In addition, he was selected to the All-SEC

team. In 2006, he was inducted into the University of Mississippi Athletic Hall of Fame. Barone is a professional at the Country Club of Jackson.

IVAN TREVINO1992

Arguably one of the top collegiate doubles players of his time, Ivan Trevino teamed with Mike Knowles to finish No. 4 in the nation in the 1992 final doubles ranking. They were se-lected as Tennis Week’s collegiate doubles team of the month for April. Also, they became the second doubles team in Rebel tennis history to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships, ad-

vancing to the third round. In additon, Trevino earned All-SEC honors in doubles and was named to the All-SEC Academic team three years. In 1992, Trevino was the only player in the conference to be named to the All-SEC and Academic All-SEC teams. While playing for the Rebels, Trevino earned a Bachelor’s Degree in business and a Masters Degree in business administration. Trevino is currently working at MCI, Inc., in Miami, Fla., directing operations in Latin America.

MIKE KNOWLES1992

The success of the 1992 Rebels NCAA “Sweet Sixteen” team centered on its outstanding doubles play. The Rebels went 25-3 in doubles matches in dual match play and Mike Knowles had a lot to do with that. He teamed with Ivan Trevi-no that year to post an impressive season that earned them a trip to the NCAA Doubles Tournament and a final national

ranking of No. 4. During April they were selected Tennis Week’s collegiate doubles team of the month. He also was a member of the All-SEC team in doubles. Knowles is an advertising executive in Dallas, Texas.

MOHAMED RIDAOUI1992

Mohamed Ridaoui changed the Rebels 1992 season from the outset. He blasted into the national spotlight as he claimed the 1991 National Intercollegiate Clay Court Cham-pionships, earning the program’s first ever Grand Slam vic-tory. It was a remarkable accomplishment as he defeated the No. 1-ranked player in the country and defending champion

Patricio Arnold of South Florida 6-1, 7-5 in the semifinals and No. 4 ranked Jose Luis Noriega of San Diego 6-4, 6-4 in the title match. Ridaoui represented the Rebels in all four collegiate grand slam events including the NCAA Championships. He was also selected to the All-SEC Team. Ridaoui is a teaching professional and entrepreneur in New York.

JOAKIM APPELQVIST1994

Joakim Appelqvist led the Rebels to the NCAA Region III Championship and was the first player to reach the NCAA Final Four in singles. He was also named an ITA Academic All-American as well as being selected to the SEC Academic honor roll and the GTE Academic All District VI At-Large team. In addition to being an outstanding singles player, Appelqvist

teamed with Ali Hamadeh to capture the Rolex Region III Doubles Championship and the SEC Doubles Championship. He earned All-SEC honors. Appelqvist is the Promotional/Product Director for Tretorn Sports in Sweden.

MAHESH BHUPATHI1995

Mahesh Bhupathi blasted onto the scene as a fresh-man and left his mark on college tennis as one of the best singles and doubles players. He teamed with Ali Hamadeh to become the first Rebels to win an NCAA tennis title when they captured the nationally televised doubles championship in 1995. In addition to winning the NCAA Doubles Title, Bhu-

pathi and Hamadeh became the first individuals in Mississippi history to be ranked No. 1 in the nation. Bhupathi was the 1995 SEC Singles Champion, SEC Player-of -the-Year and fin-ished ranked No. 3 in the nation. In his first year, Bhupathi ended the season as the third-best freshman in college tennis and earned ITA/Tennis Match Magazine Rookie of the Year honors. He made the SEC All-Position Team as the No. 1 doubles team in the conference and earned All-SEC honors in singles, not only as a freshman but also as the only player who was not a senior. Bhupathi is currently a touring professional. In 1999 he and his partner Leander Paes won the French Open Doubles Championship and Wimbledon. They were the first doubles pair in the modern era to reach the finals of all four grand slams in a calendar year. The duo ended the year ranked No. 1 in the world doubles rankings. In 16 years on the tour, Bhupathi has won more than five million dollars in prize money and captured 49 doubles titles, including 11 grand slam titles. He won his 10th grand slam title in 2006, teaming with Martina Hingis to win the Australian Open Mixed Doubles title. In 2009, Bhupathi teamed up with Mark Knowles to win the ATP World Tour Mas-ters 1000 Canada. They also reached the finals at the Australian and U.S. Opens. For his accomplishments in collegiate tennis and on the world stage, Bhupathi was inducted into the ITA Collegiate Hall of Fame in May of 2010.

REMI FENEON1995

Ole Miss dominated the doubles competition at the 1995 NCAAs as Remi Feneon and Johan Landsberg reached the semifinals along with fellow Rebel NCAA Champions Mahesh Bhupathi and Ali Hamadeh. Feneon and Landsberg ended a stellar year as the 12th best doubles team in the nation. They posted a 29-6 record with 10 wins against nationally ranked

opponents. In singles, Feneon clinched the match for the Rebels against Pepperdine and a trip to the semifinals at the NCAA Team Championships. He also captured the Princeton Invitational Singles and Doubles Titles. He presently resides in New Zealand, where he teaches tennis.

JOHAN HEDE1995, 1996, 1997

Johan Hede enjoyed a brilliant career at Ole Miss end-ing as the winningest singles player in Ole Miss history with a 135-41 record. He became the first player in Ole Miss history to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships all four years of his career. Hede was a three-time All-American, three-time All-SEC

selection, 1996 NCAA Semifinalist, 1996 SEC Singles Champion and 1996 SEC Player-of-the-Year. In 1996, Hede posted a 11-0 record in the SEC on his way to earning SEC

Player-of-the-Year honors. Off the court, Hede was named to the 1997 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team and was a two-time ITA Academic All-American. He graduated with honors in International Business. One of Ole Miss’ greatest moments was Hede’s dramatic match at the 1995 NCAA Championships, defeating Georgia in front of a partisan packed home crowd, sending the Rebels to the NCAA Finals. Hede is currently a financial executive in Stockholm, Sweden.

ALI HAMADEH1995, 1996

Ali Hamadeh, the highly regarded doubles player, made headlines in 1996 for his singles play. He participated in the NCAA Championships for the third year in a row, as one of the nation’s top singles players. Hamadeh ended the year ranked No. 6 in the nation with a 26-9 record and earned All-SEC First-Team honors.

In 1995 Hamadeh captured the NCAA Doubles Championship with Mahesh Bhu-pathi, defeating three nationally ranked teams to get to the final. The duo completed the season as the No. 1 doubles team in the nation in the Rolex Rankings and were named to the All-SEC First Team in doubles as well as the Rolex All-Star Team. Hamadeh teamed with Joakim Appelqvist to win the Rolex Region III doubles title and then went on to win the doubles title at the SEC Indoor Championships making him the SEC Doubles Champion for 1994. Hamadeh is an investment advisor with Merrill Lynch.

JOHAN LANDSBERG1995, 1997

Johan Landsberg concluded an outstanding career with his best season ever in 1997. He was recognized as one of the most improved players in the nation, reaching a top rank-ing of No. 3 in singles. Landsberg posted a 38-8 overall record and an impres-sive 23-1 dual match record on his way to earning All-Amer-

ica and All-SEC First Team honors. He qualified for the NCAA Championships in singles and doubles. A two-time All-American, two-time All-SEC selection and two-time ITA Academic All-America, Landsberg graduated with a degree in International Business. In 1995, Landsberg reached the Semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships with Remi Feneon. The two ended a stellar year in doubles, ranking as the 12th best team in the nation. Landsberg retired from the ATP Circuit in 2006. He finished 14th in the 2000 ATP Doubles Race and was a semifinalist at the World Doubles Championships in 2000. He won two ATP doubles titles. Landsberg is currently living in Stockholm, Sweden and is an ATP tennis coach.

Johan Hede became the first Rebel tennis player to earn All-America honors three years as he received this distinction in 1995, 1996 and 1997. He finished a brilliant career as the all-time winningest singles player in Ole Miss history with a record of 135-41. Hede was the 1996 SEC Singles Champion, SEC Player-of-the-Year and an NCAA Semifinalist in singles. In addition, Hede is the first player to be named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America First Team.

SEBASTIEN DECHAUNAC1997, 1998

Sebastien DeChaunac enjoyed a phenomenal career at Ole Miss. He advanced to the 1997 NCAA Semifinals in singles and earned SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors in leading the Rebels to the SEC Tournament Championship and a second consecutive SEC title. DeChaunac ended that year as the nation’s No. 2 player with a 52-9 record that included

32 wins over nationally-ranked players. In 1998, DeChaunac became the fourth Rebel to be ranked No. 1 during a season and was the SEC Singles Champion. A two-time All-SEC First Team selection, DeChaunac clinched the match against Boise State that put the Rebels in the NCAA Semifinals in 1997. Off the court, DeChaunac was an outstanding student earning GTE/CoSIDA Aca-demic All-America National First Team honors in 1998. He had a perfect 4.0 grade point average and also earned Academic All-SEC honors. DeChaunac played professional tennis until recently. In 2009, he qualified for the Australian Open for the second time and achieved a season-high ranking No. 130 in the ATP Rankings. At the 2002 French Open Championships, DeChaunac defeated past French Open Champion Michael Chang.

VIKRANT CHADHA2000

Vikrant Chadha made a major contribution to the Reb-els during his four years. He teamed with James Shortall to advance to the 2000 NCAA Doubles Final Four in Athens, Ga. The pair ended the year ranked No. 12 in the nation. Chadha was instrumental in the Rebels’ reaching the NCAA Final Four in 1997 and 1999. In 1997, he clinched the

win over UC-Santa Barbara that put Ole Miss in the Final Four. In addition, Chadha was a huge key in the Rebels’ SEC Championship run in 1997. He was the clinching match over Georgia that gave the Rebels their first SEC Tournament Championship. During his career, Chadha won 80 singles and 61 doubles matches. A member of the UMAA Honor Roll and the Chancellor’s Honor Roll, Chadha re-ceived his degree from the University of Mississippi in May of 2001. Chadha currently lives in Houston, Texas.

JAMES SHORTALL2000

James Shortall, ended his four-year career as one of the premier players in singles and perhaps one of the best doubles players in the country. He proved his prowess in doubles, teaming up with Vikrant Chadha to reach the 2000 NCAA Doubles Championships Final Four. In 2001, Shortall ended the year ranked No. 35 in sin-

Shortall ended the 2000 campaign ranked No. 51 in the nation in singles and No. 12 in doubles. He earned All-SEC honors and became the 14th All-American in the history of the program. Off the court, Shortall was named to the 2000 GTE/CoSIDA District VI Academic All-America At-Large Second Team and was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. He made one of the University’s three honor rolls every semester of his career, and graduated in May 2001 with a degree in Managerial Finance. Shortall resides in New Zealand with his wife and works in investment banking. He is also a spokesperson for Rural Farming in New Zealand.

ALEX HARTMAN2001, 2003

Alex Hartman completed a stellar career in 2003 by earning All-America honors for the second time in his career. He finished the year ranked No. 7 in the nation in singles and became just the second Rebel ever to record 100 wins in his career. Hartman finished his illustrious career with 106 wins and only 57 losses. He became the first Rebel ever to earn

All-SEC honors all four years of his career. Hartman qualified for the NCAA Championships all four years and was one of only three freshmen to make it in 2000. A two-time finalist at the SEC Indoor Champion-ships, led the Rebels to back-to-back SEC Western Division titles in 2002 and 2003 and to the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen” his junior year and the NCAA Elite Eight his senior year. Off the court, Hartman was an outstanding student-athlete. He received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2003 and was a finalist for the SEC Boyd McWhorter Scholarship. During his career, he was named to the Verizon/CoSIDA District VI Aca-demic All-America team, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and made the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times. A regular on the University Honor Roll, Hartman graduated from the University of Mississippi in May of 2003 with a degree in Managerial Finance. He completed his masters in Finance from the Stockholm School of Economics and is now working at Goldman-Sachs in Sweden.

CATALIN GARD2003, 2004, 2005

Catalin Gard became one of the best to ever play at Ole Miss, finishing with 112 career wins and leading the Rebels to consecutive SEC Championships in 2004 and 2005 as well as the NCAA Final Four in 2005. He was also instrumental in the Rebels’ winning four straight SEC Western Division titles. During his senior year, Gard spent 24 weeks as the No.

1 nationally ranked player in collegiate tennis. He earned All-America honors becoming the second player ever to earn the distinction three years. Gard finished with a 33-6 overall record in 2005. Catalin Gard had a stellar junior season, earning SEC Player of the Year honors after going 10-1 at No.1 singles against the nation’s toughest league. He earned All-America honors for the second year in a row and finished the season ranked No. 4 in the nation. Gard helped the Rebels capture the overall SEC Championship and their third straight SEC West title. In 2003, Gard became the 17th All-American in the history of the program after finishing his second season ranked No. 19 in the nation. Gard posted an impressive 30-11 overall record, 17-5 at No. 2 singles and helped the Rebels win their second consecutive SEC West title. At the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen” in Athens, Ga., Gard won a crucial three-set match against Duke that helped the Rebels advance to the NCAA Elite Eight. Gard burst onto the scene in 2002 as a freshman, keying the Rebels’ first SEC Western Division Championship. He posted an 18-4 overall record, 17-4 at No. 3 singles and went 8-3 in the SEC in singles. He clinched key wins over Alabama, Tennes-see and Mississippi State. Off the court, Gard was named to one of the University’s three honor rolls every semester. In 2004, Gard was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America District VI At-Large second team. Upon completing his eligibility, Gard won two USTA Futures Tournaments during the summer of 2005. He returned to campus to finish his degree, and graduated from the University of Mississippi in May of 2006. Gard is currently a touring professional. In the summer of 2007, he won several futures and qualified for the Romanian Open, his first ever ATP Tour event. He was named the ITF Player of the Month for June. Gard finished the year ranked second in wins behind Rafael Nadal and led all touring professionals with 95 matches played.

ERIC CLAESSON2006, 2007

Eric Claesson concluded an excellent career with the Rebels in 2007, by earning All-America honors for the second time. He teamed up with Erling Tveit to reach the quarterfinals at the NCAA Doubles Championships and ended the year ranked No. 10 in doubles. Claesson, who finished ranked No. 80 nationally in singles, helped the Reb-

els capture the SEC Western Division Championship for the fourth time in his career as well as reach the finals of the SEC Tournament for the third time in his four years and advance to the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen.” In 2006, Claesson became the 18th All-American in the history of the program. Claesson ended the year ranked No. 53 in the nation in singles and No. 7 in doubles. He went 4-0 in singles and doubles in the NCAA Regionals to lead the Rebels to the “Sweet Sixteen.” An All-SEC first team selection, Claesson helped lead the Rebels to their fifth consecutive SEC Western Division Championship and the SEC Tournament final for the third time in the history of the program. He finished with a 36-13 overall record, 16-5 at No. 2 singles. Claesson teamed with Erling Tveit for a 22-8 overall record, 19-5 at No. 1 dou-bles, including 9-2 in the SEC. The duo earned a No. 5-8 seed in the NCAA Doubles Championships. His first two years (2004, 2005), Claesson contributed to the Rebels winning back-to-back overall SEC Championships and advancing to the NCAA Final Four in 2005. In 2005, Claesson teamed with fellow All-American Catalin Gard for a No. 13 ranking in doubles. He finished with a 22-16 overall record, and won a pivotal match against Mississippi State as the Rebels clinched the SEC overall Championship with a 4-3 win. Claesson currently resides in Sweden.

ERLING TVEIT2006, 2007, 2008

As a senior in 2008, Erling Tveit became the third three-time All-American in the history of the program. He teamed with Jonas Berg to advance to the finals at the NCAA Doubles Championship, cementing his place as one of the top doubles players ever to play at Ole Miss. The pair teamed up together for the first time at the

beginning of the fall of 2007 and ended the year ranked No. 3 in the nation. Tveit and Berg were also named to the ITA Rolex Collegiate All-Star Team. Tveit helped lead the Rebels to the SEC Tournament Championship, their seventh straight SEC West title, the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national ranking of No. 6. In-dividually, Tveit became the second Rebel to earn All-SEC honors all fours years of his career and the fourth to record 100 wins in a career, finishing with 107. In 2007, Tveit became the first Ole Miss tennis player to earn All-America honors multiple times in singles and doubles, earning the honor for the second year in a row. He ended the year ranked No. 16 in the nation in singles and No. 10 in doubles. Tveit teamed with Eric Claesson to advance to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Doubles Cham-pionship. He earned All-SEC first team honors in helping lead the Rebels to their sixth consecutive SEC Western Division Championship and the SEC Tournament final for the third time in four years and second year in a row. Erling Tveit firmly implanted his name among the best players in the nation while becoming the 19th All-American in the history of Ole Miss men’s tennis in 2006. In his first season at No. 1 singles, Tveit guided the Rebels to their fifth consecutive SEC West title, the SEC Tournament final and the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen.” He went 18-4 at the top spot, including clinching the win over Mississippi State for the SEC West crown. Tveit went 3-0 in singles and doubles to lead the Rebels to the NCAA Final 16 and then continued his excellent play, advancing to the Semifinals at the NCAA Singles Championship. He became the fourth Rebel to reach the singles semifinals and only

the second to do so as a sophomore. As a freshman in 2005, Tveit went 6-1 in doubles and singles in his first NCAA Championships to help Ole Miss advance to the NCAA Final Four for the fourth time. He played a major role in the Rebels’ capturing their second consecutive overall SEC Cham-pionship and their fourth straight SEC West title. Tveit recorded a 21-2 mark in dual matches, including 9-2 in the SEC at No. 3 singles. Off the court, Tveit received a $5,000 Postgraduate Scholarship as a finalist for the SEC Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition, he was a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a regular on the Univer-sity honor roll. Tveit earned his degree in December of 2008 and works for Ernst & Young in Norway.

ROBBYE POOLE2007

Robbye Poole concluded his career in 2008 by helping lead Ole Miss to the SEC Tournament Championship, their sev-enth consecutive SEC West title, the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national ranking of No. 6. He qualified for the NCAA Championships in singles for the second year in a row and earned All-SEC second team

honors. Poole was named the Most Valuable Player at the ITA National Team Indoor as the Rebels reached the semifinals for the fifth time. He also earned SEC Player of the Week honors twice. Poole enjoyed his best season as a Rebel in 2007, earning All-America honors. He ended the year ranked No. 33 in the nation in singles and reached the round of 16 in his first NCAA Singles Championship appearance. Poole went 4-1 in the NCAA Team Championships in helping the Rebels reach the “Sweet Sixteen.” He earned All-SEC first team honors after going 8-2 in the SEC. Poole finished with a team-leading 35-11 overall record, including a 19-5 dual match record, 10-1 at No. 3 singles. He was instrumental in the Rebels capturing their sixth consecutive SEC West title and reaching the SEC Tournament final. Poole was named the SEC Player of the Week for the week of March 5 for going 4-0 in singles and doubles in leading the Rebels to wins over Florida and South Carolina. Poole finished his business degree in December of 2008 and is playing on the ATP Tour.

JONAS BERG2008, 2009

Jonas Berg became a two-time All-American in 2009 ending the year ranked No. 3 in the nation in doubles and No. 23 in singles. The All-SEC first team selection spent 14 weeks ranked No. 1 in the nation in doubles. As a team captain, Berg helped the Rebels advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the ninth time and earn a final national

ranking of No. 4. He helped lead the Rebels to the SEC regular season championship with an undefeated league record, the SEC Tournament Championship and their eighth straight SEC West title. In addition, Berg teamed up with Bram ten Berge to capture the ITA All-American Doubles Championship in the fall of 2008. In 2008, Berg teamed with Erling Tveit to advance to the NCAA Doubles Final, earning All-America honors. The pair teamed up together for the first time at the begin-ning of the fall of 2007 and ended the year ranked No. 3 in the nation. Berg and Tveit were also named to the Rolex Collegiate All-Star Team. Berg helped lead the Rebels to the SEC Tournament Championship, the SEC West title, the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national ranking of No. 6. Individually, Berg earned All-SEC first team honors and was named the SEC Tour-nament Most Valuable Player after going 4-0 in singles and doubles to pace the Rebels to the title. In his first season (2007) with the Rebels, Berg earned All-SEC honors. He went 20-1 in dual matches, going undefeated until his last match of the season. He helped


the Rebels advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and win the SEC West title. Berg became the third Rebel in the history of the program to go undefeated (11-0) in the SEC. Berg graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2009 and is currently working in banking in Helsingborg, Sweden.

BRAM TEN BERGE2008, 2009

2009 was a banner year for Bram ten Berge capped by winning the Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award as the top male student-athlete in the entire league. The two-time All-American ended the year ranked No. 3 in the nation in doubles and spent 14 weeks ranked No. 1 in the nation. The All-SEC first team selection and team

captain helped the Rebels advance to the NCAA Elite Eight for the ninth time and earn a final national ranking of No. 4. Ten Berge also helped lead the Rebels to the SEC regular season championship with an undefeated league record, their second consecu-tive SEC Tournament Championship and their eighth straight SEC West title. In addition, he teamed with Jonas Berg to capture the ITA All-American Championship in doubles in the fall of 2008. In 2008, ten Berge paired with Matthias Wellermann to reach the semifinals at the NCAA Doubles Championships, earning All-America honors. The duo just missed out on making it an all Ole Miss final and assuring the Rebels of the title. Despite missing nine matches during the season due to injury, ten Berge helped the Rebels win the SEC West Title and advance to the NCAA Elite Eight. In his first action since March, ten Berge, won both his matches in the NCAA first and second rounds to help propel the Rebels to their 14th “Sweet Sixteen” berth. In 2006, ten Berge earned All-SEC honors and helped Ole Miss win the SEC West and reach the NCAA Final 16. He finished with a 13-8 record at No. 3 singles, which included clinching the win against Florida State in the second round of the NCAAs. As a freshman in 2005, ten Berge played a huge role in the Rebels’ advancing to the NCAA Final Four. He rallied from down 1-5 in the third set against Georgia at No. 5 singles to clinch the win and the team’s fourth semifinal appearance. He helped the Rebels capture the overall SEC Championship as well as the SEC West title. Additional academic honors include an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2009, induction into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society in 2008. Ten Berge was also a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and the 2006 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s tennis. After graduating from the University of Mississippi with honors in Classics, ten Berge is presently pursuing his PhD. in Classical Studies at the University of Michigan.

MATTHIAS WELLERMANN2008

Matthias Wellermann teamed with Bram ten Berge to reach the NCAA Doubles Semifinals in 2008, earning All-America honors. The duo just missed out on making it an all Ole Miss final and assuring the Rebels of the title. Wellermann helped lead the Rebels to the SEC Tourna-

ment Championship, their seventh straight SEC West title, the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national ranking of No. 6. An All-SEC first team honoree, Wellermann went 15-3 at No. 2 doubles with two different partners and helped the Rebels go through the SEC Tournament without a loss in doubles. In his first season (2007) with the Rebels, Wellermann helped lead the Rebels to the SEC Western Division Championship and the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Off the court, Wellermann was named to the 2008 ESPN the Magazine CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-America Third Team and was a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete. Wellermann completed his master’s degree in accounting and is working for KPMG in New York.

DEVIN BRITTON2009

Devin Britton made his debut in spectacular fashion, becoming the youngest NCAA Singles Champion ever and just the third freshman to win it, which includes John McEn-roe. In addition, Britton became the first Rebel to win the NCAA Singles title and the first freshman in the history of the program to earn All-America honors.

The ITA Southeast Region Rookie of the Year ended the year ranked No. 19 in the nation in singles, earned All-SEC honors and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. As a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week, Britton helped lead the Rebels to the NCAA Elite Eight and a final national ranking of No. 4. He also played a huge role in the Rebels claiming the SEC regular season title with an undefeated record, and clinched the win over Tennessee to give the Rebels their second consecutive SEC Tournament Championship. Britton also clinched the win over LSU to send the Rebels to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. He posted a 26-9 overall record, 19-8 in dual matches, and went 15-4 at No. 2 singles. Playing in the top half of the lineup, Britton posted a 7-4 record in the SEC. The SEC Indoor Singles Semifinalist ended the year winning 11 in a row. Britton is presently playing on the ATP Tour.

MARCEL THIEMANN2010, 2011

Marcel Thiemann earned All-America honors for the second straight year advancing to the NCAA Singles Quar-terfinals for the second year in a row. Thiemann helped lead the Rebels to their 18th straight NCAA appearance and earned All-SEC first team honors again. He finished the year ranked No. 29 in the nation in

singles and No. 11 in doubles with his brother, Chris Thiemann. For the second year in a row, Marcel was one of only nine Division I players to earn All-America honors and be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete. Thiemann became the 25th All-American in the history of the program in 2010 reaching the NCAA Singles Quarterfinals. He also participated in the NCAA Doubles Championship with his brother. Thiemann ended the year ranked No. 19 in the nation in singles and No. 24 in doubles. Thiemann earned All-SEC first team honors helping lead the Rebels to their ninth consecutive SEC West Championship and the SEC Tourna-ment semifinals for the eighth time in the last nine years. He was named to the first ever SEC All-Tournament Team. Playing No. 1 singles, Thiemann posted a 15-8 record including five top 25 wins. He teamed with his brother for a 10-1 record in the SEC at No. 1 doubles. Thiemann was one of just five players in the nation to earn All-America honors and be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete. In 2009, Thiemann helped lead the Rebels to the SEC regular season title and an undefeated league record. He went 3-0 to help lead the Rebels to their second consecutive SEC Tournament Championship. Thiemann was named the SEC Freshman of the Week twice as the Rebels won their eighth straight SEC West title.

DEVIN BRITTON

Devin Britton became the first Ole Miss player to win the NCAA Singles Championship, joining the Rebel duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Ali Hamadeh (Doubles) as NCAA Champions in Ole Miss men’s tennis history. In addition, Britton became the first American-born player to win the NCAA singles title since 2000. He is also the first freshman since 1996 to win the national title and first non-seeded player since 1997. He is the youngest of the three all-time freshmen to win the singles title which in-cludes 19-year-old John McEnroe of Stanford in 1978. Britton defeated three seeded players en route to his national title run and ended Steven Moneke’s 22-match winning streak.

A CHAMPION ON TOUR

MAHESH BHUPATHI11-Time Grand Slam Champion

Mahesh Bhupathi, a former NCAA Doubles Champion at Ole Miss, has confirmed his place in tennis history. In 2011, Bhupathi teamed back up with countryman Leander Paes. The two made a successful return to the courts, winning their home country title in Chennai and falling just short of the one grand slam doubles title that eludes the pair, the Australiian Open. On their way to the finals, Bhupathi won his 600th career match since turning pro in 1995. Only 16 other players in the Open Era have reached the milestone. In 2009, Bhupathi paired with fellow Indian Sania Mirza to capture the Mixed Dou-bles Championship at the Australian Open for his 11th grand slam title. He and fellow doubles partner, Mark Knowles, ended the year ranked No. 3 in the ATP Rankings. The duo teamed up to reach the finals at the Australian and U.S. Opens and won the title at Barcelona, after winning four titles in their first year together in 2008. Bhupathi finished in the Top 30 individually in the Stanford ATP Doubles Rankings in 2007 for the seventh consecutive year and 11th overall as well as earning his 40th career doubles title. Bhupathi teamed with Martina Hingis in 2006 to capture the Australian Open Mixed Doubles title, bringing his total to 10 career grand slams. In 2005, he teamed with Mary Pierce to claim the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon and then won his fifth mixed doubles title when he and Daniela Hantuchova captured the U.S. Open Championships. In 2004, Bhupathi finished the season ranked in the Top 10 (No. 5 in the ATP Doubles Race with Russia’s Max Mirnyi and No. 7 individually) for the fourth consecutive year and sixth time in seven years. In addition, he won five doubles titles and more than 50 matches for the third year in a row. His five titles came with four different partners. Bhupathi earned a spot in the Tennis Masters Cup in Houston (with Mirnyi). Bhupathi also teamed with Mirnyi to reach the quarterfinals at the 2004 Australian Open and the semifinals at the French Open. He also teamed up with former partner and fellow countryman, Leander Paes, to win the Master Series Toronto and reach the semifinals at the Olympics in Athens, Greece. Bhupathi teamed with Mirnyi in 2003 to win five of an ATP-high nine finals and finished No. 2 in the ATP Team Race standings. The two reached the finals at Wimbledon. In 2002, Bhupathi added two more grand slam titles to his impressive resume. He teamed with Russia’s Elena Likhovtseva to win the Mixed Doubles title at Wimbledon and two months later, he and doubles partner Max Mirnyi won the U.S. Open Championship. In 1999, Bhupathi and his partner, Leander Paes, became the first doubles duo in the modern era to reach the finals of all four grand slam events in a calendar year. The pair won the French Open Championships and one month later captured the most prestigious of the grand slams, Wimbledon. In addition to winning two doubles grand slam titles in 1999, Bhupathi also cap-tured the U.S. Open Mixed Doubles Championship. After not playing together much in 2000 due to injuries, Bhupathi and Paes re-turned to the courts together in 2001 and captured their third grand slam title and second French Open Championship.

In 15 years on the tour, Bhupathi has won more than five million dollars in prize money and captured 49 doubles titles. Bhupathi became the first player in the history of India to win an ATP Grand Slam title when he won the Mixed Doubles title at the French Open Championships in the sum-mer of 1997. While at Ole Miss, Bhupathi led the Rebels to the NCAA team finals. He became the first Rebel tennis player to win an NCAA title when he teamed with Ali Hamadeh to capture the Doubles Championship in 1995 and ended the year as the No. 1 doubles team in the nation. In addition, Bhupathi was an All-American, 1995 SEC Singles Champion and SEC Player of the Year. Bhupathi credits his success to his college days at Ole Miss. “Although I had good results in junior tennis, I was not ready for the pros physically and mentally,” Bhupathi said. “I credit coach Chadwick for much of my success. I really enjoyed my time at Ole Miss and I still stay in touch with my former teammates.” In 2010, Bhupathi became the first Ole Miss player to be inducted into the ITA Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame.

OLE MISS SPORTS MEDICINEPrevention. Treatment. Rehabilitation. Education. Those

are the four primary phases of athletic training, and the Ole Miss Sports Medicine staff strives to fulfill all four areas when working with the student-athletes on a daily basis.

“Our Athletic Trainers are allied healthcare professionals and we strive to provide quality healthcare based on the latest in medical research,” said Shannon Singletary, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Strength & Conditioning. “By doing this we hope to not only provide our athletes with a better chance of winning on the field, but also give them an opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle.”

Led by a medical director and a full-time director of musculoskeletal medicine, Ole Miss student-athletes are offered the best care possible by the Sports Medicine staff, which includes 10 full-time athletic trainers, three graduate assistants and several stu-dent assistants. The staff serves the student-athletes nearly around-the-clock and at numerous facilities on campus.

The Athletic Trainers begin treatments and rehabilitation as early as 6:30 a.m. and are available until the last student-athlete is through. There are currently six athletic training facilities on campus. The staff treats out of two primary athletic training rooms, in the Indoor Practice Facility and the Starnes Athletic Training Center, with four other satellite athletic training rooms, located at Tad Smith Coliseum, Basketball Practice Facility, Gillom Center and Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field.

The IPF, Starnes Center and BPF training rooms are stocked with equipment such as

stationary bikes, hand weights, therapeutic modalities, and recent technology like under-water treadmills and Biodex testing equipment. Each component is strategically designed to not only give the student-athletes the best care, but also to aid in returning them to competition as quickly and safely as possible. Singletary, though, said the emphasis is on the student-athlete’s health, first and foremost.

Ole Miss Sports Medicine has strong working relationships with local physicians and Baptist Memorial Hospital, located less than five minutes from the campus. In addition, specialists from the University’s Medical Center are often consulted.

Rebel Ready - CHAMPS Life Skills is a well-rounded program for student-athletes to develop individual skills necessary to lead successful lives and become leaders for our communities and nation.

The program consists of five vital components:• The Commitment to Academic Excellence is promoted

through a full range of services that include orientation, advising, tutoring, academic skills training and the recognition of academic excellence.• The Commitment to Athletic Excellence is developed by the department’s 10 women and eight men intercollegiate sports teams. The sponsorship is based on equity and compliance to all University, NCAA and Southeastern Conference rules and regulations.

• The Commitment to Career Development is a joint effort of the Ole Miss Athletic Department and Career Center. The goal is to prepare student-athletes for their transition out of sports and into the career development process. Career development components of the program include special workshops and programs for student-athletes and a senior resume brochure.• The Commitment to Personal Development is promoted through life skills and personal development seminars and sponsorship of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.• The Commitment to Service is promoted—in conjunction with the University Counseling Center—through many community service projects throughout the year. The Ole Miss stu-dent-athletes are very involved in the community and the community service program contin-ues to grow.

Who Is A Prospect?A prospective student-athlete is defined as an athlete who has begun classes for the ninth grade. However, it is possible for a younger student to be considered a prospect if the institution (or a representative of its athletic interests) provides the student (or family member) benefits not provided to prospects generally.

Who May Contact a Prospect During the Recruiting Process?All in-person, on and off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect (or family) are limited to autho-rized institutional staff members or full-time enrolled students at the institution. All other persons are prohibited from engaging in any personal, telephone or written contact with the prospect (or family) for encouraging participation in the institution’s athletics programs.

How and When May a Prospect Be Contacted?In all sports, a prospect may not be contacted in-person, off-campus until their senior year in high school. Prospects may not receive correspondence from an institution until their junior year in high school (exception: men’s basketball - June 15 after sophomore year). Questionnaires and camp brochures may be sent prior to the junior year.

When May a Prospect Visit an Institution's Campus?Prospects may visit an institution’s campus at their own expense (“unofficial visit”) and receive com-plimentary passes to an athletic contest anytime except during “dead periods.” Check with the institu-

tion for dates. There is no limit to the number of times a prospect may visit a campus at his/her own expense. Prospects may receive an expense paid visit (“official visit”) only after they have begun classes for their senior year and have registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and submitted tran-scripts and test scores to the institution. Prospects are limited to a maximum of five official visits with no more than one per institution.

What is Considered "Being Recruited?"A prospect is considered recruited if a coach, staff member or representative of the institution’s athletic interest (booster) attempts to persuade a prospect (or family member) to enroll at their institution and participate in the athletics program. A student is considered “recruited” if any of the following actions are taken: 1) the institution provides the prospect with an “official visit” (i.e., expenses paid) to its campus; 2) a coach arranges for an in-person, off-campus (home or prospect’s school) encounter with the prospect; 3) receiving more than one telephone call from a coach for recruiting purposes; 4) issuing an NLI or university athletic scholarship.

What Should a Prospect Do During the Recruiting Process?Prospects should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center during their junior year in high school. FedEx Corporation announced on April 14, 2005, a $2.5 million gift over five years to The University of Mississippi to create an academic support center for student-athletes. In May 2007, the vision became reality as the FedEx Student-Athlete Academic Support Center opened its doors to Rebel athletes. The center provides state-of-the-art computer facilities and space for study halls and tutor-ing for men and women student-athletes, as well as additional classrooms for all students. “FedEx has always been a strong supporter of educational initiatives at all levels,” said Mike Glenn, executive vice president, marketing development and cor-porate communications. “This contribution to The University of Mississippi is an extension of our commitment to helping improve the academic resources available to students, and student-athletes in particular.” Glenn said FedEx and Ole Miss are committed to providing a strong academic foundation to enable students to reach their full potential. The money has been used to renovate a portion of the Starnes Athletic Center—which formerly housed football locker rooms, a weight room and training facilities—next to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on All-American Drive. The 22,500-square-foot building now houses the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Support, including offices, conference rooms, 20 large and small group tutoring rooms, a large study area, a multi-media classroom, computer lab and 150-seat high-tech auditorium. The project was completed in May 2007 with an approximate cost of $5 million. “American public universities are the best in the world largely because of the generosity of American corporations,” said then-Ole Miss Chancellor Robert Khayat. “FedEx sets the standard for philanthropy by which others are measured. In this case, Ole Miss student-athletes are the pri-mary beneficiaries, but all our students will benefit and, as a result, our entire state benefits.” In addition to its latest gift to the University, FedEx supports several endowed scholarship programs, the Whitten Chair in Law, the Lott Leadership Institute, the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation and William Faulkner’s historic home, Rowan Oak.

FEDEX ACADEMIC SUPPORT CENTER

Continuing the trend of athletics facility growth that has occurred under Pete Boone, the University provided the Rebels' leadership with a new state-of-the-art home with the opening of the Athletics Administration Building in January 2008. Construction began in August 2006 on the approximately $4.5 million facility, which put all the various facets of the Ole Miss administration under one roof for the first time. Each of the major departments - business, compliance, facilities, media relations, marketing/productions and the UMAA Foundation - has its own wing with spacious offices. Formerly the location of the John White Building and home of the university Physical Plant, the Athletics Administration Building is conveniently situated north of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and close to other athletics facilities, providing a central location for coaches and student-athletes. Highlighting the amenities is an advanced video production studio and control room, which operates the production in the TV studio as well as on the video boards at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Tad Smith Coliseum and Oxford-University Stadium. The multi-functional video area is high definition throughout. For visitors walking through the lobby, the building is enhanced with cutting-edge graphics and images from Ole Miss history. The walls are cov-ered with photos of great athletes, ecstatic crowds and memorable publica-tions, while flat screen, plasma televisions are available throughout the facility. With key personnel all under one roof, the Athletics Administration Building provides a much needed cohesiveness to the everyday operation of the University as it strives to achieve its overall goal for success in athletics.

ATHLETICS ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

Among the finest facilities in all of college athletics, the Ole Miss Indoor Practice Facility is the crown jewel in the grow-ing athletics compound sur-rounding Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. “With the addition of this magnificent indoor facility, we find that Ole Miss athletes and coaches have the opportunity to practice and play games in state-of-the-art facilities, on the finest fields and courts,” then-Ole Miss Chancellor Robert C. Khayat said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 22, 2004. “They are in a position of being nationally competitive. As we look forward to finding out what is going to happen in athletics at this university and with the university in general, we can move forward knowing that we have provided the infrastructure and facilities that needed to be provided.” Located beside the South End Zone of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the Rebels moved into the spectacular $18 million multi-purpose structure in fall 2004. The 150,000-square-foot enclosure is a result of UM's Commitment to Excellence in Athletics Campaign, a $35 million initiative to upgrade the university's athletics programs. In addition to the IPF, the campaign has also resulted in a recently built golf facility, renovations to C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum and a recently constructed track and field complex, which sits just south of the IPF. Also, an endowment has been created to fund scholarships and maintain the new facilities. Numerous Rebel supporters contributed financially to the construction of the indoor practice facility, including legendary Rebel quarterback Archie Manning. In May 2004, former Ole Miss run-ning back Deuce McAllister donated $1 million toward the building of the facility. The architects of the facility were Ferguson & Associates of Jackson.

INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY

Every aspect of Ole Miss Athletics is geared toward the success of its student-athletes. The Michael S. Starnes Athletic Training Center provides a valuable role in the development and display of that success. The multi-purpose Starnes Center has undergone many transformations through the years. It currently houses Ole Miss Sports Medicine, FCA and CHAMPS Life Skills headquarters and includes a 10,000-square-foot weight room and a sizeable memorabilia collection. Formerly the Doc Knight Field House, the Training Center stands just north of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and within walking distance of Tad Smith Coliseum, Swayze Field and the main athletics office complex. The primary training room on the Ole Miss campus is used by several Rebel sports. The training area has four offices for the athletic training staff, room for at least 13 treatment tables, six taping stations and countless rehabilitation equipment. It also contains a wet room with a whirl-pool that help make up an environment for top-notch care and injury prevention for Rebel athletes. The facility extends to the east into a similar structure which holds a massive weight room, a lobby, conference room and offices. Connected to the west end is the FedEx Academic Support Center, a state-of-the-art complex opened in May 2007. Starnes, the building’s benefactor, donated $1 million toward the facility as part of an extensive $2.5 million renovation in 1995. A 1968 Ole Miss graduate, Starnes is president of Tennessee California Express, Inc., a transportation company. Much of the history and the many accolades of Rebel athletics are displayed in two rooms on the second floor of the Starnes Center that make up Hollingsworth-Manning Hall. Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth, an Ole Miss alumnus and general practitioner in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., joined forces with former Rebel quarterback Archie Manning to establish the recruitment/memora-bilia center. It is faithfully maintained and updated by Langston Rogers, Senior Associate Athletics Director Emeritus.

Tad Smith Coliseum has seen facility records for attendance in recent years. In fact, seven of the 15 largest crowds in arena history have come in the last three years.

The basketball teams received a boost with the addition of the Basketball Practice Facility which was completed in December of 2009.

PALMER/SALLOUMTENNIS CENTER

The University of Mississippi’s Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center ranks as one of the nation’s finest collegiate facilities. The tennis center was completed in 1990 and has served as host to the SEC Championships, Women’s ITA South Regional Championships, the USTA National Interscholastic Champion-ships and NCAA Men’s and Women’s Regionals. This year, it will host the SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament. Located in the heart of campus, the tennis center is sur-rounded by towering magnolia trees and is regarded as perhaps the most beautiful in the country. Construction is nearing completion on expansion to the tennis center. The $3 million expansion will compliment the al-ready stunning facility by adding seats and enhancing the player and coach areas; including the locker rooms, study area, and coaches’ offices. The complex combines the Greek revival architecture that is predominant on the Oxford campus, housing a 500-seat stadium with courtside pavilions providing additional seating for 300. With the expansion, spectator viewing will be available on top of the buildings to the left and right, allowing for more fans to enjoy what has become an exciting atmosphere. The facility has nine championship courts all with lighting, as well as a computer-ized scoreboard and message center. Both head men’s and women’s tennis coaches Bily Chad-wick and Mark Beyers are excited about the additions to the tennis facility. “When Palmer/Salloum was built, the objective of creating a state-of-the-art tennis center was met,” Chadwick said. “The expansion will be a compliment to the existing space and ad-vance our facilities even further.”

“We are thrilled with the additions to the tennis center,” Beyers said. “It will enable us to continue attracting the top play-ers in the nation and around the world as we strive to compete for more championships.” The primary benefactor of the tennis center is John N. Palmer, a 1956 alumnus of Ole Miss, who is currently the U.S. Ambassador to Portugal. He was joined in this effort by Mitchell Salloum Jr., a businessman from Gulfport, who is a 1955 alumnus of the University. The center honors the late Mitchell Salloum, Sr., a 1926 law graduate and a 1960-61 President of the Ole Miss Alumni Association. Additional funds were provided by do-nations to the Drive for Athletics at Ole Miss. Donors who made significant gifts toward other parts of the stadium include Louis Brandt, Jack Dunbar and William Galtney. Galtney contributed $1 million to the renovation/expan-sion, and in recognition of his generous donation, the courts will be named the William F. Galtney, Jr., Tennis Courts. The Ole Miss tennis programs also benefit from the Gillom Sports Center, which opened in 1997. The facility contains three indoor tennis courts, allowing both tennis teams to play all their matches in Oxford. The Ole Miss tennis indoor complex is one of the finest in the nation. The outstanding tennis facilities echo the success of the tennis programs and helps them continue their quest for cham-pionships. It shows the commitment and dedication the Univer-sity has made toward these sports. “We are fortunate to have the support of our athletic department,” Chadwick said. “This total team effort is what has placed our tennis programs at the top of the collegiate world.”

Longtime athletics supporter and former Rebel tennis player, Will Galtney, contributed $1million to the expansion/renovation of the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center. In recognition of his gift, the courts at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center will be named the William F. Galtney, Jr., Courts.

Renovations to the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center are slated to be completed in February, 2012.
