Dear Girl Scouts, Family, and Friends,

    a new generation of leaders

Who lead in a new way

Who lead by principle rather than pride

Who step across barriers of class and race every day

Who seek out the work that needs doing in the world

And bring boundless energy to every challenge.

    They are todays Girl Scouts.

We have been on a course for the past 100 years, charted by our founder, Juliette Gordon Low. She had the insight and integrity to say in a historic telephone call, Ive got something for the girls of Savannah [Georgia], and all of America, and all the world, and were going to start it tonight!

That historic phone call took place on March 12, 1912. In 2012, we are celebrating the momentous 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting. We are so proud of the heritage and traditions of our past and the vision and foresight of our future. We, as a movement, are truly moving at the speed of girl, and we invite you and your friends to come along with us on that journey.

Throughout this book, girls will nd so many exible ways to join through a variety of opportunities. The book is broken into sections that we call Pathways. The sections in this book are: Events, Series, Camp (Outdoor), and Travel. Girls can also become involved through our Troop Pathway as well as through our Juliette Program. You can nd out more about Juliettes on page 56. One of the most alluring things about Girl Scouting is that your level of involvement is completely up to you! Girls can choose which way theyll experience Girl Scouting - at any grade level!

At the core of our leadership experience is our Girls Guide to Girl Scouting and our three series of age-appropriate Journey books. These resources were developed by Girl Scouts of the USA after intense research into what girls want and need to develop into healthy and whole individuals. Find out more about the three journeys: Its Your World - Change It!, Its Your Planet - Love It!, and Its Your Story - Tell It! on pages 66-67.

Adult volunteers have many exible ways to join as well. We need, and thrive on, volunteer expertise to make lasting and impactful impressions on the girls who pass through our doors. Our volunteer model is about exibility and we are seeking volunteers who represent our communitys diversity - including our beloved alumnae.

We are focused on our mission to build girls of courage, con dence, and character who make the world a better place. Please peruse through this book to nd an adventure that is right for you. If you are interested in something that you dont nd in this book, please contact us and make your experience as unique as you are! Grab a friend, get involved, and start making the world a better place for the next 100 years.

Keeping Food Safe.Do you think you can build and program a robot that can solve the Food Factor Challenge? This hands-on program involves research, problem solving, and team building - not to mention its a great and fun introduction to the world of engineering! Your team will build, test, and program a robot using a LEGO MINDSTORMS kit. Groups of 6 10 girls in grades 4 8 will compete in an unforgettable challenge! Your team can play for fun or participate in competitions that range from local meets to international events! No previous technical knowledge is required. Coaches and teams help each other by embracing FLLs core values in friendly competition.
