REFUNDSRefunds will be issued under the following circumstances only. A letter of request must be submitted to the Director of the Department for all refunds.

1) If the P&R Department cancels a program for any reason, a full refund will be issued.

2) If a participant tries a fitness pro-gram for one week, and decide they do not like the program, they may get a refund, less the cost of the session(s) that have passed, and less the $ 10.00 administration fee. Refunds are cal-culated based upon the remaining number of classes in the program af-ter the date that the refund has been requested by the participant.

3) If a participant cancels due to a medical reason, a refund will be is-sued based upon the remaining num-ber of classes in the program from the date that the refund is requested.

4) For Summer Camps, Trips: Re-funds will be issued minus the $10 ad-ministration fee only if the spot can be replaced by a participant on the wait-ing list. Otherwise, a refund cannot be provided.

We are proud to announce the Town of Riverview

is a High Five registered organization.

LEADERSDiscovery

Inclusion in recreation is essential for meeting the leisure needs of all individuals. We have carefully selected 4 Discovery Leaders to work closely with our participants & their families to integrate children

with exceptionalities into our camp and playground programming to provide an enriching recreation experience in the least restrictive environment possible.

• If your child requires personal support for daily living activities, we welcome personal support workers.

• Benefits of participation include: increased socialization and community awareness, development of physical literacy, increased emotional well-being and self-esteem.

• A completed information form and an introductory meeting with the staff are required prior to being assigned a Discovery Leader. Discovery Staff are available to meet with parents/guardians beginning on Tuesday, June 14. Children are encouraged to attend and get to know the staff. Please contact the Play Supervisor at 387-2070 to set up an appointment or for more information.

June to August

This program offers leadership experience to 20 Riverview youth, preparing them to apply for jobs within the community as adults. Filled with awesome activities and extra-special events designed to give young teens opportunities to try new things by volunteering their time as Junior Leaders.

Junior Leaders will assist the Parks and Recreation summer staff who administer all of our summer camps, playground programs and community events. Simultaneously, the older summer students act as mentors to the Junior Leaders showing organization, initiative, creativity and responsibility.

Junior Leaders are selected, following an application process and an interview. Applications will be available online, or in person, at 55 Biggs Drive. The deadline to submit your application is May 30, 2016.

This program is not related to employment opportunities within the Town of Riverview.

Her most recent accomplishment was bagging two 4000+ foot peaks in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Jessie’s next challenge is backpacking the 51 km Cape Chignecto Coastal Trail this summer. SCULPTURE SAINT JOHN is a biennial sculpting event hosted by the New Brunswick International Sculpture Symposium (NBISS) in Market Square, Saint John from August 4 to September 17, 2016.

During the six-week live sculpting, New Brunswick artist Julie Glaspy will create a granite art installation for the Riverfront Trail through a community partnership between the Town of Riverview and Sculpture Saint John.

The finished piece of public art will form part of an international sculpture trail spanning across Maine and New Brunswick. You can view Julie’s past work and keep up to date on the sculpture’s progress at www.townofriverivew.ca/publicart. Don’t forget to download the virtual tour app!

JULIE GLASPY began carving ten years ago with Native Elders on the coast of B.C. and has been creating art in many different mediums since 2011. She was an intern in Sculpture Saint John 2014 then went on to do a large commission for the International Children’s Memorial Place in PEI. In 2015 she was the site manager for Sculpture Nova Scotia’s first symposium and worked with Jim Boyd on a commission for the Botanic Gardens in Fredericton. She continues to work in her studio every day she can to get gain experience. We are thrilled to have Julie return to us as an artist. In her statement she wrote:

“ Convincing a stone to become

something else is no small task – it’s

heavy, it’s dusty, it’s dirty, and it’s

my labour of love. Often, art is about

finding beauty in places where it is

not always commonly seen; to me

art is about making something out

of nothing, which is one of my main

attractions to stone. ”

Concertsin Caseley Park

July 6The Lion, The Bear, The FoxThe Lion, The Bear, The Fox took over 30 years to find each other, but it only took 30 days for Christopher Arruda (lion), Cory Woodward (bear) and Ryan McMahon (fox) to realize they were meant to join their voices as one. The Lion, The Bear, The Fox demonstrate an uncompromising devotion to their chosen craft. A collection of intimate moments lived through audiences every night. Stompy blues, rock grooves and howling, unbridled passion can suddenly give way to hushed folk passages woven together by three whispers speaking as one. www.thelionthebearthefox.com

Join us in Caseley Park, Wednesdays

from 7-8:30 p.m., and enjoy a great

summer line-up of entertainment. Our

bandstand will showcase artists who

are sure to please any audience.

July 13Union DukeLike a musical locomotive hurtling ’round the bend, Union Duke is a Toronto folk quintet that’s taking the world by storm. Bridging soulful indie rock with bluegrass and country, these city-slickin’ whipper-snappers unleash vocal harmonies over heel-stomping beats, in a growing collection of songs which set hearts and dancefloors ablaze. www.Unionduke.com

July 20Christina MartinNova Scotia Singer-Songwriter Christina Martin’s musical journey has led to extended stays in Austin, Texas, as well as Germany. Christina will perform songs from her album It’ll Be Alright, accompanied by her guitar player, acclaimed Nova Scotia producer and musician Dale Murray (DaleMurray.ca). It’ll Be Alright is Christina’s most accomplished and accessible album to date. Although she will never shed her

more alt-country and Americana influences, It’ll Be Alright utilizes far more pop and rock sonic textures, allowing Martin to explore the many sides of her musical personality. christinamartin.net

July 27Chris Colepaugh and the Cosmic CrewBlending equal parts southern-inspired rock with a heavy dose of the blues, Chris Colepaugh and the Cosmic Crew have rightfully earned a reputation for crowd-pleasing, hard-driving rock. The multiple award-winning group, fronted by guitar virtuoso Chris Colepaugh, has spent more than two decades actively touring Canada and the United States, supporting acts including Gov’t Mule, The North Mississippi All Stars and Big Sugar. The group’s latest effort, RnR, pays homage to the stripped-down rock and roll of years past, but with modern touches. www.Colepaugh.com

August 3Shelley Bean & The Duckety MudsShelley Bean & The Duckety Muds have performed all across Canada as far away as Australia. A combination of stories, songs and imaginative tomfoolery. If your children like to sing, jump up on stage and celebrate our musical East Coast heritage, then this is the show for them. Shelley is a Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and East Coast Music Award winner. It’s a little zany, a little celtic and a whole lotta laughs on an amazing New Brunswick evening! www.garrisonhillentertainment.com

August 10Siobhan MillerSiobhan Miller is regarded as one the finest singers to emerge from Scotland’s music scene over the last decade. Her stirring renewal of traditional song has seen her win the Scots Singer of the Year award twice at the Scots Trad Music Awards. She is also a recipient of a BBC Young Folk Award. She performed on Broadway, New York where she was resident singer in the Mabou Mines production of ‘Peter and Wendy’ and TV appearances include a performance on American hit TV series Outlander in 2014. www.siobhanmiller.com

August 17Hat Fitz and CaraThis dynamic two piece are a unique combination that have skillfully combined their hill-style Gospel blues with old-timey flavourings. Stripped down to just voices, guitar and vintage drums, Hat Fitz & Cara embellish impeccable rootsy originals with soulful vocals reminiscent of a time once forgotten. Their music comes straight from the heart with a sound that is full of inherent realism, making their live shows visually electric. www.hatfitzandcara.com
