Pilates: EssentialsPilates is known for its low-impact movements, lengthening of muscles and stress-busting breathing techniques. If you have never taken Pilates but want to see what the buzz is about, instructor Cathy Nail will help you develop abdominal strength, decrease lower back stress and improve overall flexibility. Pilates: IntermediateCathy Nail will teach you how to tone, strengthen and lengthen your entire body using Pilates techniques. The mat movements you will learn in class can transform your physical appearance, making muscles go from shortened and stunted to long, strong and lean. In this class, you’ll learn slow-moving exercises that tone and relax the body, increase vitality and stamina, improve flexibility and balance, reduce stress and pain, develop concentration and enhance overall wellness. College Readiness: Adult Re-entry; Learning to LearnCSU’s College Readiness Program is designed for individuals who have been out of school for five years or more. The program promises to calm your fears and make returning to school so much easier. The study skills refresher course is designed to review and update the reading, writing, and math skills that are necessary for completion of a college degree program. It also includes a brief orientation to CSU. Adults who successfully complete this course will receive one semester hour of degree credit upon enrollment at CSU. Take the first step! Instructor Darlene Bink will show you a variety of options to help you find the ease in every pose, allowing the body to be free and light. Creative Flash Photography: Class-room and Hands-On Practice

Digital flash photography can be frustrating for even experienced photographers. Learn strategies for

getting more consistent exposures, and techniques for using your flash as a main, fill and bounce light source. The class will deal with built-in flash and hot shoe / on and off-camera flash. The CSU Dance Conservatory at the Rankin Arts Center works in partnership with the Columbus Ballet to offer classes for ages 3-adult. This program runs August through May. However, students are able to enroll from January through May.

Second semester classes begin January 2 and run through May 17, 2010. There will be no classes on MLK Holiday (January 18) or during MSCD Spring Break, (April 3-11).

Through this certification program individuals will experience a proven pathway of leadership development that yields real-world results. This three-tiered program is designed to max-imize your supervisory, organizational,and strategic skills necessary for true leadership excellence. Why achieve certification? Certification will validate that you should be recognized as having developed best-practice competencies in all three of these areas. Experience immediate enhancement in your own leadership effectiveness and confidence, be recognized as prepared for positions of greater responsibility within your industry and raise your level of management skill and leadership effectiveness.

Tier 1 – Management and Supervision Excellence is offered through Continuing Education and is for the entry-level manager or small business owner looking for guidance in transitioning effectively to a supervisory position. These courses can be taken individually or as a whole program to earn a Certificate in Management and Supervision.

Tier 2 – Organizational Leadership Excellence is offered through the Cunningham Center for Leadership Development and focuses on leadership and implementation at the organizational level. At this level, a number of professional assessments are included as part of the curriculum. Students must have successfully completed all courses in Tier 1 to be eligible to move on to Tier 2.

Tier 3 – Strategic Leadership Excellence is also offered through the Cunningham Center for Leadership Development and is designed for leaders who are planning strategically for the successful actualization of their organization’s

vision and mission. Professional assessments are included in this portion of the program as well. Students must have successfully completed all courses in Tier 1 and Tier 2 to be eligible to progress to Tier 3. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CERTIFICATE

The Digital Photography Certificate program provides a structured photographic curriculum. REFUNDS/CANCELLATIONS Continuing Education is self-supportingand all costs are covered through student registration fees. Classcredits are good for one year. If you withdraw after the three-business-day deadline, but before the class begins, you will receive a 50% refund.No refunds will be given after a class begins. INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY Columbus State University will notissue refunds for classes which have been postponed due to inclementweather or other circumstances beyond our control. PERMANENT RECORDS The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a na-tionally recognized measurement of noncredit course work. One CEU(1.0) may be awarded for each ten hours of participation in an approvedprogram. We keep a permanent record of participation in selected pro-grams, issue a certificate to acknowledge successful completion of theprogram, and provide official transcripts to you or your employer. All re-quests for transcripts must be in writing.
