Ph.D. Herb Bunker was one of Missouri's University’s greatest athletes :
• Missouri University Sports Hall of Fame inductee
• four-sport letterman • assistant coach and long-time director of
university's physical education department.
• Herb Bunker played no high school football in Nevada, MO, but became 60-minute player at Columbia as tackle and center.
• Won Helms Hall of Fame recognition in basketball (all American),
• catcher-outfielder in baseball and shot-putter in track.
• earned Phi Beta Kappa designation.• He served briefly as Auburn and Florida
assistant coach• Kansas City Paseo High School coach• Nine years as head coach and director at
Culver-Stockton College • teamed with Chancey Simpson to coach
MU’s1945 Cotton Bowl team.
