This section reports on events held week 6 - 7 and explains how you can help our Fundraising Committee plan for 2016 Gala Day.

Thank you to parents in Year 2 and Kindergarten who contributed food to, or volunteered their time for Grandfriends’ Day on 7 March. All three of our bands played pieces in the morning under Sian Joyce’s leadership; it was the first time the junior band performed before an audience. The visitors purchased 200 books for the school library with a value of $2,450. The children, whose Grandfriends bought books, will be the first to borrow the new book. Thank you to all of you who have taken a box of Easter eggs home and are selling busily to colleagues, friends and family members. Please remember to pay for the box if you haven’t done that already. Year 3 parents did a great job handing out boxes and now they are running the competition to guess the number of chocolate eggs in the jars. Look for them under the COLA if your child wants to join in. We know that lots of families enjoyed the Beaumont Bivouac last weekend. Helen Hogben and her team of parents sold a variety of items from the canteen counter on Saturday, including freshly cooked, home-made donuts; a huge thank you to Yulee Choi, who was in the canteen for quite a while that afternoon making the donuts. We hope you enjoyed the breakfast cooked and served by your P&C Executive and their spouses! A special mention to Simon Holt, Pete Wilson and Guy Winslow who ran the BBQ and cooked sausages, bacon and eggs for everyone. The canteen and breakfast contributed almost $1,300 to our funds. We may form a Bivouac committee in Term 4 to share the workload of planning and delivering the P&C part of the weekend. There will be a Federal Election this year, although no-one knows when. We schedule our Gala Day to coincide with elections when possible; the school is a polling station and elections bring in around 3,000 voters. Our Fundraising Committee, led by Guy Winslow, has started to plan Gala Day, even if we don’t know when it will be. You can help our Fundraising Committee by donating prizes for the silent auction. We are grateful for all prizes, whatever the size and value. Please talk to Guy Winslow or send an email to our P&C account if you can help. Your P&C [email protected]

HELP NEEDED IN THE LIBRARY

NEW BOOKS NEED COVERING BEFORE THE STUDENTS CAN

BORROW

See Ms Muddell in the Library.

Thank you.

CANTEEN NOTICE Thank you to Gerard McNamara for volunteering in the Canteen over the past 9 years, making him one of our longest serving volunteers. Gerard has done just 1 shift per year but has made a consistent and valuable contribution to the running of the Canteen, and his children have loved seeing him come in too. Will is now in Year 6 so it's the last time Gerard will get his hands wet in our sinks! Our Term 2 roster is coming out soon, you don't have to volunteer a lot to make a difference and we'd love to see you! Elle Turchini Canteen Co-ordinator

BAND BEGINS WITH A BANG!

Grandfriends Day saw the debut of our 2016 junior band and by all accounts their performance was a winner. The junior band students have only been playing together for half a term and in this time have worked hard to be able to perform for our grandfriends and school community. Well done JB! Our Intermediate and Senior bands also impressed the crowd, getting feet tapping and heads bopping. Look out for the IB and SB in their upcoming performances at assemblies in week 11 (4th & 5th April). For any band enquiries please email our Band Program Coordinator Jane Stormon - [email protected]
