March 23rd, 2012 Term 1 Week 9 BOAMBEE BULLETIN Dear Parents and Caregivers, Ms Donoghoe gave a great lesson on our last PBL rule “Think Safety and Sustainability” at our school assembly on Wednesday. Students successfully unjumbled the letters in the word SUSTAINABILITY to finally reach this monstrous mouthful. The meaning behind the words ‘safety’ and ‘sustainability’ are basically about decision making. We will all try our best to make sensible, informed decisions that affect ourselves, our community and our environment. Next term watch out as we all become more aware and gain greater understanding of the term ‘sustainability’. Following discussion at the P&C meeting earlier this term it has been decided in the spirit of PBL that the Boambee Best assembly be replaced with a Celebration of Learning assembly at the end of each term where no awards are given but we simply celebrate the positive behaviour and learning of all students. Our Term 1 Celebration of Learning assembly will officially launch our PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) program and will also be a time for students to showcase their talents musically sharing their B.E.S.T rap skills. Parents and community members are invited to stay and join us at 12 midday for a free sausage sizzle. The canteen will be open to sell drinks and icy poles on the day—however there will be NO lunch orders taken on this day. Kindergarten-Language Learning and Literacy (L3) Language, Learning and Literacy (L3) is a program for Kindergarten students. All the Kindergarten teachers in our school are using this program in their classrooms. L3 focuses on providing rich literacy experiences to assist all children to become successful Readers and Writers. It occurs as part of the daily literacy lesson within the Kindergarten classroom. During the literacy session your child will be taught in small groups of three to four students. While each group is being given short, explicit lessons in Reading and Writing, the rest of the class will complete carefully selected activities to extend their literacy learning. The children will also listen to the reading of stories, poems and songs. This will build their knowledge of sentences, letters and words to help their reading and writing. Children will be taught all parts of the English K–6 Syllabus through L3 lessons. BOAMBEE BULLETIN

Dear Parents and Caregivers, Ms Donoghoe gave a great lesson on our last PBL rule “Think Safety and Sustainability” at our school assembly on Wednesday.

It occurs as part of the daily literacy lesson within

the Kindergarten classroom. During the literacy session your child will be taught in small groups of three to four students. While each group is being given short, explicit lessons in Reading and Writing, the rest of the

class will complete carefully selected activities to extend their literacy learning. The children will also listen to the reading of stories, poems and songs. This will build their knowledge of sentences, letters and words to help their reading and writing. Children will be taught all parts of the English K–6 Syllabus through L3 lessons.
