16th Sunday of Ordinary Time - July 21st 2019

Weekend LiturgiesSaturday 5:00 pm

Sunday 8:30 and 10:30 am

The parishioners of St. Rita’s are inving you to become

altar servers this fall.

This is an important posion in helping your family and friends cel

ebrate weekly mass.  No experience is necessary!  You will be

trained and only scheduled on the dates and mass mes you

choose.  Think about it, pray about it, talk to your parents about it.

Let me know if you are interested and we will begin training in

September.  Contact me in person, email me at jnick

[email protected], or call

651-459-4596,  Thank you!  Deacon Jack.

A leer regarding Father Charles the Missionary Priest who visited on the weekend of July 6 & 7.

We as a Parish donated $4352.58 for his ministry in Uganda.

Dear Fr. Ron, and St Rita Parish Community:

I write to express my most hearelt gratude for the gracious welcome you accorded Fr Charles at your  lovely parish

this past weekend. He was touched by your hospitality and generosity.  You made him feel very much at home, and we

are profoundly grateful.

The prayers  and generous  contribuons  of  your  faith  community will  go  a  long way  in  helping  us  to  provide

healthcare for the rural poor and support the most disadvantaged Ugandan children—the orphans under our care with a

home, dedicated religious and professional staff, nourishing food, adequate clothing, medical a,enon, as well as suita

ble educaon.  Most important, your donaon will significantly help us realize our dream of providing these “li,le ones”

of God with a good moral atmosphere, where their emoonal and spiritual needs can be met; and where they are given

a dignified and brighter future—a future they can in turn offer to their own children.

Thank  you,  Fr.  Ron,  staff,  and  community.    Our  children  thank  you  so  very much.   May  our wonderful  Lord

abundantly bless you and your parish family that so generously gave in prayer, love, and financial support.

Yours most gratefully,

Rev. Frederick K. Byaruhanga, PhD.

Saint of the Day—Saint Mary Magdalene, July 22ndExcept for the mother of Jesus, few women are more honored in the Bible than Mary Magdalene. Yet she could well be

the patron of the slandered, since there has been a persistent legend in the Church that she is the unnamed sinful

woman who anointed the feet of Jesus in Luke 7:36-50.

Most Scripture scholars today point out that there is no scriptural basis for confusing the two women. Mary Magdalene,

that is, “of Magdala,” was the one from whom Christ cast out “seven demons” (Luke 8:2)—an indicaon at the worst, of

extreme demonic possession or possibly, severe illness.

Wring in the New Catholic Commentary, Father Wilfrid J. Harrington, O.P., says that “seven demons” “does not mean

that Mary had lived an immoral life—a conclusion reached only by means of a mistaken idenficaon with the anonymous

woman of Luke 7:36.” In the Jerome Biblical Commentary, Father Edward Mally, SJ, agrees that she “is not…the same as

the sinner of Luke 7:37, despite the later Western romanc tradion about her.”

Mary Magdalene was one of the many “who were assisng them [Jesus and the Twelve] out of their means.” She was

one of those who stood by the cross of Jesus with his mother. And, of all the “official” witnesses who might have been

chosen for the first awareness of the Resurrecon, she was the one to whom that privilege was given. She is known as

the  “Apostle to the Apostles.”

The children of St. Rita’s had a fantasc me celebrang God’s love this week.  We would like

to thank all the volunteers who gave their me to help with making snacks, teaching, sharing

the love of music, and  just se ng up.  Without volunteers, programs like these could not go

on.  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!

Due to lack of volunteers, we have to cancel Session 2 of the Summer Faith Formaon

Program.  St. Rita’s apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause our families who

signed up for our fun filled event.
