(NGO) in Mongolia with around 650 staff

Mongolia Highlights 1993 - 2014

• WVI started a Dzud Emergency Relief project in 1993, opened office in 1995

• Working closely with the GOM - MoU’s with most Government Ministries

• Implemented health, disaster rehabilitation, food security, economic development projects -

– Children in the tunnel, street children (800 children/600 found homes) - 4 generation kids Blue sky choir

• Until 2008, focused on infrastructure such as human development centers, water wells, schools, kindergartens, hospital construction and facilities/equipment investment.

• Growing economy - greater emphasis on community empowerment and Sustainability - focus now on joint projects, greater allocation of resources and ownership from Government

• Strong voice for the children and family issues - advocated for policy level changes > domestic violence, family law, youth policy, and more

• Advocacy on Alcoholism - MoU with Ministry of Justice, Support from the President of Mongolia

• National committee for Children - Chaired by Prime Minister - advisory member

• Leading UN Food Cluster for food security

• Child protection: Partnership with the Government of Mongolia and Mobicom to launch toll free “Child Helpline – 108”

• Lead in 2 aimags and 1 district for Strengthening Health System at Provincial level

– Nutrition hand over to GOM (Sprinkles nutritional supplement in 7 aimags and PD Heart in all target aimags)

CHILD HELPLINE In order to improve child protection, WVM forged a

close partnership with the Government of

Mongolia and Mobicom Corporation to launch

the nation-wide, toll free hotline service for children

“Child Helpline – 108”.

In 2014, 454 child protection-related cases were

resolved. Monthly, 25,000 calls were received by the

Child Helpline 108.
