Prayer for those affected by Bushfires.
Creator God. You breathe life into all things and make them holy, and we thank you. Our land, our people, our fauna are suf-fering and we pray for rain. Please soak our land. We pray for those who are enduring unim-aginable injury and loss through fire. Bless them with deep comfort, consolation and hope. We pray for our heroic fire fighters. Cover them with your protection and bless them and their families. We pray for our leaders. Inspire them with courage and wisdom needed for this time. Your people look to you with trusting hearts and the certainty of your love. With deep gratitude and longing, we ask you to hear our prayer. Amen.

LITURGY—YEAR A
The Baptism of the Lord
When Jesus was baptised in the River
Jordan the heavens opened and the Holy
Spirit descended upon him like a dove. It
marked the moment he began his ministry
of doing good and healing all who had
fallen into the power of the devil.
1st Reading: Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7
Here is my servant, my chosen one in
whom I am well pleased.
Psalm: 28:1-4, 9-10
The Lord will bless his people with peace.
2nd Reading: Acts 10:34-38
God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and
with power.
Gospel: Matthew 3:13-17
When Jesus was baptised the heavens were
opened and the Spirit of God came upon
him
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, Alleluia!
The heavens were opened and the Father’s
voice was heard: this is my beloved Son, hear
him. Alleluia!
Memorial Acclamation: Save us, Saviour
of the world, for by your Cross and
Resurrection you have set us free.
The Southern Cross Parishioners who would like their family’s baptism, wedding or death of a loved one published for free in The Southern Cross are asked to contact 8210 8117 for more information. They are happy to publish
