The Baptism of the Lord January 12TH, 2020 –Year A
The Spirit of God descends upon Jesus at his Baptism, and marks the beginning of his public ministry. At our
baptism, through water and the Holy Spirit, we are sanctified and made children of God. By the grace of this sacrament, we are awakened to the power of the Spirit
in our own lives.

2020 LABYRINTH PROJECT
Is nurturing your spiritual life on your New Year’s Resolution List?
Are you easily distracted while praying? Perhaps, you would like to try the spiritual
practice of praying with a labyrinth. The labyrinth, with its single path to the
centre, reflects our Christian understanding of the one path to salvation
via Christ. Participants often find the physical movement of walking the path
helps them focus on their prayers.
Praying with the labyrinth gives us opportunities to connect our body, mind and spirit, and come close to God. The twists and turns on the path reflect our
own spiritual journey. The people that we meet on the path remind us of those we encounter in our lives. For some people,
walking the labyrinth is an opportunity to let go of worries, blocked-up energy and
emotions, facilitating their paths to healing. For some, the journey re-energizes and renews. Some might find the practice conducive to entering into silence to meet the Lord. Some might let the path guide them to connect the past to the present.
The 2020 Labyrinth Project, a collaborative
project between our church and other Waterloo churches, aims to provide
Christians in KW the opportunities to pray with a labyrinth on the second last Saturday
of each month. OUR LADY OF LOURDES CHURCH will be
hosting an indoor labyrinth on SATURDAY, JANUARY 18,
from 9:30 am to noon. An introduction to praying with the
labyrinth will be provided at 9:30 am. Instruction/Reflection Booklets will be
available. Please note that no outdoor shoes are
allowed on the labyrinth.
