SEW-EURODRIVE is introducing MOVIDRIVE® drive inverters of the B Series and an inverter
technology in which innovation and performance received top priority. The high level of
basic functionality, the comprehensive performance range, the high overload capability and
the modular unit concept have MOVIDRIVE® units improve efficiency and flexibility in every
system worldwide.
In asynchronous AC drives or synchronous servo

You can always count on safety with MOVIDRIVE®
SEW-EURODRIVE drives are not only controlled
in a cost-efficient manner with MOVIDRIVE®, but
they are also well protected: Protection against
overload, overheating of inverter and motor,
short circuit and ground fault as well as phase
fault.
MOVIDRIVE® drive inverters are interference-
suppressed in accordance with EMC guidelines:
The temperature is monitored via temperature
sensors using to the criteria for safe separation
according to DIN EN 50178.
All MOVIDRIVE® drive inverters comply with the
safety requirement “safe stop“ according to
DIN EN 954-1, category 3. MOVIDRIVE® meets
safety category 4 to DIN EN 954-1 when
equipped with the optional safety inverter.

We need only two processes to deliver the optimum drive for any application
We have developed two field-oriented control processes for the MOVIDRIVE® units: VFC and
CFC. These processes enable AC motors to solve almost any drive task. MOVIDRIVE® makes
AC asynchronous motors as dynamic and precise as DC drives and controls servomotors in
a highly-dynamic manner.
The advantages of Voltage mode Flux Control(VFC):VFC makes it possible to use asynchronous mo-
tors with high dynamics and speed stability in
standard applications even without encoder
feedback.
The advantages of Current Flux Control(CFC):The CFC current control process with speed
feedback offers highly-dynamic solutions for
standard asynchronous and servo motors.
The torque rise times are particularly short.
MOVIDRIVE® always offers the suitable method: VFC or CFC MOVIDRIVE®
drive inverters are designed to make each application flexible andefficient. The units are equipped with the IPOSplus® integratedpositioning and sequence control system, the MOVITOOLS® operatingsoftware and the standardized application programs (applicationmodules).

Straightforward solution for perfect handling
The usability of MOVIDRIVE® drive inverters ensures that parameters can be set quickly
and easily using the optional keypad or a PC. The user is guided through the entire
installation and parameter setting sequence step by step. It is usually sufficient to enter
the unit designation of the SEW-EURODRIVE gearmotor. All characteristics of the
SEW-EURODRIVE motors are entered in the system before they leave the factory.
This way, all standard parameters are matched to the application in quickly and simply.
The “electronic nameplate“ for geared servo
motors demonstrates that user convenience is a
major advantage of MOVIDRIVE®: Drives with
electronic nameplate enable MOVITOOLS® to
read all motor data automatically from the pro-
ject planning software and to load it into the
drive inverter during startup of motor and drive
inverter. MOVITOOLS® then takes this data as
the basis for calculating the optimum control
loop parameters. This method ensures that the
drive inverter is perfectly matched to the motor.
Thanks to the electronic nameplate function, the
user just needs to enter a few system-specific
values. The electronic nameplate allows for data
transparency right to the motor. This method
saves time at startup and significantly reduces
potential sources of error. The only requirement
on the system is: HIPERFACE® encoder on the
motor. Or the ETHERNET Modbus TCP fieldbus
interface: it makes for horizontal communication
between control and field devices as well as ver-
tical communication between field and control
level. This means the entire communication wit-
hin automation is linked to the standard Office
products.
Another advantage: The “plug-in servicemodule.“ If service is required, the integrated
memory card can be removed easily and plugged
into the new MOVIDRIVE®. This way, all unit set-
tings are transferred to the new drive inverter
quickly and reliably.

Operating, monitoring and visualizing using
the operator panels from SEW-EURODRIVE
Modern drive inverters are increasingly taking on technical control functions. In particular,
immediate drive tasks, such as positioning, synchronous operation and the coordinated
movement of several drives in relation to one another, are being performed with high levels
of accuracy. As inverter functionality improves, the demands on operation, visualization and
diagnostics also increase.
The five operator panels from the DOP series
(Drive Operator Panel) enable optimum visualiza-
tion and operation of the system. The same is
true in conjunction with higher-level controllers.
They provide new drive technology functions
such as recipe management, dual drive function,
passthrough mode and an integrated Web server.
DOP operator panel functionality ranges from a
2 x 20 character text display to a 640 x 480 pixel
VGA touchscreen display.

Intelligent control makes for good performance and is standard on MOVIDRIVE® units
Distributed automation is a prerequisite for economical machine and system concepts,
particularly in highly flexible applications. That’s why the IPOSplus® positioning and sequence
control is integrated as standard in MOVIDRIVE® units. The advantage of MOVIDRIVE® with
integrated IPOSplus® control over previous inverter and control combinations, which involve
time-consuming installation and startup, is that it is ready for operation quickly and easily.
For all applications, IPOSplus® makes no compro-
mises when it comes to precision because it
uses the exact and highly-dynamic control pro-
perties of the drive inverter. The user can set the
programming to either windows programming or
high-level language. It is also possible to use the
pre-programmed control programs, the applica-
tion modules. Thanks to direct access to all the
internal inverter parameters, IPOSplus® is fast and
flexible. This flexibility allows for quick and cost-
effective realization of batch changes during
production.

of the transmission system. Vertical integration
of the MOVIDRIVE® drive inverter into a commu-
nication concept is no problem either because

municating with higher automation levels.
The integrated process data memory is standard
equipment. It logs online data, such as speed
and output current. The SCOPE PC software
makes it possible to have a graphic analysis of
the inverter behavior, the load and the higher-
level control.

time. The user-friendly and ready-made application modules make it easy to solve many
tasks by simply setting parameters without being too familiar with the program. The appli-
cation modules were specifically designed for positioning, winding and motion control
applications. Since the functionality has been tested and documented, it can be loaded
into the inverter and operated by simply pressing a button.
Startup is also a very user-friendly process:
all important machine data is easily accessible.
