EPTE, on becoming a European Teacher for Primary Education

The program departs from EPTE principles (human rights, democracy, diversity and justice) and a European perspective (dialogue, coope-ration and mutual aid and responsibility). The detailed principles and the courses are available at your institute.

Next to the curriculum you will be engaged in school practice and fieldwork. The common and instruction language will be English, however you will have to learn one other language of the participating countries. Finally, you will have the opportunity to select an elective course in English from the host university. Guest lecturers from all institutes will teach you together with the host staff, making sure that the local host is fully supported by his European friends. You will experience European teaching.

The cooperating institutesThe cooperating institutes, well known educatio-nal institutes in their country, represent different parts of Europe, securing the important diversity aspect that is running through this program: diversity within unity. Make sure you comply

with the entry conditions. We need students who are motivated, passing the home requirements in an excellent way and understand and speak English at a B1 level (European Reference). The one year course is recognized by all insti-tutes as a part of the accredited study at home. So participating and finishing the course will be fully recognized within your own institutes program.Contact your EPTE coordinator, find out if you are the right person and if so, do not forget to apply for an ERASMUS grant.

Lets us build towards a community or European teachers that share contact, experience and spi-rit to educate future European citizens. We are waiting for you!

Are you ready to discover the European heritage of education? Are you interested to know more of the nature of your own national education and that of other European countries? Do you like to under-stand why different teaching strategies work or do not work in different cultures? Do you like to learn and live in an interna-tional community? Do you really want to become a European teacher who is able to educate European citizens?

AnswerIf your answer is yes! Then consider to step in this experience and join the EPTE curriculum for primary teaching in Europe.

Erasmus programOver the last two years 7 European universities have joint forces and experiences in develo-ping a joint curriculum within the European ERASMUS program for joint Curriculum Development. Central to the curriculum is our common understanding that education is a powerful instrument to change the world. This program will support the ongoing process of living and learning together in Europe beyond national sentiments and conventions. There is a new world coming up. Let’s make ourselves and our children ready to join and enjoy it.

Unique adventureThis curriculum and program is ready and will be executed for the first time in 2012. You can be the one, together with fellow European stu-dents to enter this unique adventure in what is called an International Learning Community.

ProgrammeThe one year program, broken into two semes-ters, will take you to two different institutes in Europe.

The curriculum covers 6 main areas:

• pedagogic and didactics of education

• plurilingual and intercultural education

• mathematics

• arts

• natural and social science arts

• society, culture and education
