Transport NSW - RISI CARD ISSUE INFORMATION What are the benefits of the RISI ID card? Transport NSW produce the RISI Identification (ID) cards that will enable successful trainees (workers) to access the rail corridor for work purposes. This also includes station platforms. Before working in the rail system, a worker must be able to produce their RISI ID card as well as their Work Safely in the Construction Industry card (white card or equivalent) to the Worksite Protection Officer. If the worker cannot produce both cards for any reason whatsoever, they will not be allowed to work. RSW worker cards are issued by RailCorp and distributed by GoTrain Industry. How long does it take to get a RISI ID card? It takes approximately 10-15 business days for you to receive your RISI ID card from Transport NSW, who have determined that the following steps must take place for them to issue a card: The training course must be paid for The worker has completed a Category 3 Health Assessment and has been classed ‘fit for duty’ The successful medical classification has been provided to GoTrain Industry The worker has attended RISI training; produced 100 points of identification (ID) at the start of the
course (including completed ID form, copies and originals); and has passed the practical and written test at the completion of training as provided by Transport NSW
If an error has been made filling out the ID form, it could result in having to wait an additional 10-15 business days to receive the RISI ID card. Please do not call GoTrain Industry during the 10 to 15-day process as we cannot provide status updates on the RISI ID cards. This is because the process is conducted by Transport NSW, not GoTrain Industry. After the above is completed the cards will posted to you at the address you nominate on your enrolment form. The diagram below depicts the process outlined above.
The length of time the card is valid for will depend on a number of requirements. The trainer will explain this during the training. Remember: You cannot enter the rail corridor without the certificate of competency (RISI ID card) and the Work Safely in the Construction Industry card (white card or equivalent). Note: Your RISI card/s will be placed in a regular postal envelope that cannot be tracked. GoTrain Industry takes no responsibility for cards lost in transit with Australia Post. Lost cards will be charged at $132 directly by Transport NSW to you.
