The windows of the houses in the background are not lit. This could signify how late in the evening it is, or the fact that it is a very isolated and run down area.

Both characters are dressed in a smart, casual way suggesting they could have been on a night out. Taking this into account, they could be seen leaving the venue.

The house in the background is white in colour whereas, the other houses are darker. This could again signify that they are from a run down area or that it the story already connotes a dark meaning.

Both of the characters look as though they are trapped between the camera and the darkness behind them. However, there facial expressions suggest that they

The fact that they are walking to the camera is again a suggestive part of this still. It could be seen as they are leaving the house, but as of yet nobody knows why?

The dark background could connote many things in this shot. Firstly, it can suggest the time of the day, and that whatever lurks behind them is unclear.

The cars that you see in the shot could mean that it has been set in a relatively exposed area with many residents.

There facial expressions do not compliment the dark background. This could mean that even though the shot has a dark meaning, the characters can put a brave face on for the situation they are in.

The fact both of the characters heads are turned to look at the other man could suggest that he is very mysterious and they became curious about the man.

The new character is seen with his hood up. This could suggest that he is attempting to hide his identity or even just escape the cold.

The houses in the background are very blurred and blacked out. This could be shown that the characters have no home or that their home life isn’t the best.

The wet floor could suggest that it had previously been raining. This is very typically English weather and adds a sense of eeriness to the shot.

The lack of lighting from the street lamp could suggest that the setting is in a very rundown area. I could be seen as the lamp does not work because the community is lazy and fearless.

The fact both of the characters heads are turned to look at the other man could suggest that he is very mysterious and they became curious about the man.

The new character in this shot is masked. This gives the shot a sense of horror as well as mystery.

The new character is also dressed in dark colours. This could be seen as he is attempting to escape the night by blending in or maybe wanting to disappear from the view of others.

The fact that the main character is dressed in bright colours could suggest that he wants to be noticed, but as the scene progresses I don’t think he wanted it to be in this way.

In this shot, you see the two characters going their separate ways. This shows isolation towards both characters, but also shows how they are never alone.

The house in the background is painted white. The fact there are no windows open or lights on, could suggest that the characters are alone and there is no one to watch over them.

The lack of street lighting has a major effect on this scene. They both appear to be walking into darkness and therefore they don’t really know what lies ahead.

In this shot the character has his hoody done up all the way and his hood up. This could be seen as an attempt to resist the cold or to hide away from his situation.

The fact that the character is on his phone is again a suggestion of loneliness as he could be attempting to cure his loneliness by talking to people.

The character is also dressed relatively smart. And, because it is shot in a seemingly run down area, he seems out of place like he shouldn’t be in that situation.

The background is also very dark. This adds a sense of eeriness as the character is unsure what lingers behind him.

The alleyway has no lighting at all and is literally pitch black. This shows that we are unsure of what lies ahead.

The house in the background is painted a dark colour. The fact there are no windows open or lights on, could suggest that the characters are alone and there is no one to watch over them.

The leaves on each side of the alleyway show that once you are in the alleyway there is no way out. This could show that the character must confront his fears and progress to walk down the dark alleyway

The car also shows that it must be set in a suburban area with many people around. However, because he cannot see down the alleyway, he doesn’t know what lies in store for him.

The facial expression on the character shows that he is scared and confused. This could signify that he knows what is there but is unsure as to why its there.

The trees overflow on the alleyway to add to the darkness of it. This can again show that there is no way out for the character.

The background is also very dark. This adds a sense of eeriness as the character is unsure what lingers behind him.

You can also just about see the new character in the background. As you can not fully see him, it adds a sense of mystery and because he is following the other character, it begins to fall into the thriller category.

This could also again show that the character is totally unaware of his surroundings or maybe he is just trying to block his surroundings out.

The trees that are in the background is a very conventional aspect in horrors and thrillers. And, the way they add to the darkness helps the shot to again have a dark connotation towards the audience.

The Character in the background adds to the scarceness of the shot. As he is virtually invisible, it makes the audience look further into the shot.

The confrontation between the two characters is the first time in the film that they meet face to face. This could be seen as the combination of the suspense that has been building for majority of the film.

The leaves on the floor can signify death as the trees are losing their leaves and are slowly dying,

The character on the left is leaning back. This shows that the character is trying to get away but knows that there is nowhere he can hide.

The difference in the two characters costumes can signify that they represent different things. Firstly, the character on the left is dressed in dark colours, which could signify that he is attempting to blend into the darkness and maybe that he is evil. Whereas, the other character is dressed in lighter coloured clothing. This could signify that he seems to be an optimistic character and he always looks on the brighter side of things.
