You will be glad to know that Mrs. Rashmi Grover brings to the table diverse experience in imparting quality education in various capacities as a teacher and Principal, administering the multifarious functions of various academic institutes for more than twenty six years. Her rich & extensive experience in number of prestigious schools like Khaitan Public School, Noida, Amity University, Noida, Amity International School, Noida as Sr. faculty and later as a Principal with Indirapuram Public School, Ghaziabad, Ramagya School, Noida and Delhi Public School has proved her demonstrable characteristics of leadership, vision, integrity, passion, professionalism, authenticity and dynamism. She has played pivotal role in elevating the educational standards by achieving enviable scholastic and co-scholastic results and thus shaping the ascent of schools as premier educational institutes. She has been awarded by Amar Ujala for her unparalleled services in the Education industry. She has also been awarded as the most inspiring and progressive principal by Rotary club, Noida. This year she has been awarded with BEST PRINCIPAL of the DISTRICT Award in acknowledgement of her Vision, Leadership Qualities & Academic Initiatives on account of which students of her school exhibited excellent performance at District Level in UP.

Warm Greetings to all!

Welcome to the first edition of the newsletter of 2018-19. Although the newsletter carries the events that took place in the school from April to June but I thought of taking this opportunity of introducing myself through this periodical. As the new Principal of Swarnprastha Public School, I am delighted that the school’s values align with my own personal values, including the importance of trust, respect, innovation and a sense of community. I know that the development of the school over the past few years has been significant. The future will build on these firm foundations focusing on the quality of school life, especially for the benefit of our learners. I strongly believe in triple excellence; Excellence in behavior, Excellence in academics and Excellence in co-scholastics. I shall genuinely try to provide as many platforms as could be possible. I shall put in my vast experience to lift Swarnprastha to greater heights. The beautiful children of this beautiful school will be continually encouraged to care for others by becoming global citizens, and develop a concern and active respect for the environment.

The Havan ceremony was organised in our school on 5th April 2018 to seek grace and choicest blessings of the goddess Saraswati for the students.Blessings of the Almighty were sought in the quest for knowledge with the commencement of the new sessions 2018-19. The students recited prayers and shlokas to mark the beginning of the new session making the atmosphere pious and sacred. Members of the management, Principal, Vice-Principal, HM, teachers and all the students participated in Yagna with the holy belief that it would bring health, happiness and prosperity for all.SPS unveiled the academic session with hearty welcome ceremonies, orientation programmes and newly devised policies on pedagogical and co-scholastic front.

Spic Macay is a society for the promotions of Indian classical music and culture amongst youth…..Its role is to teach the essence of our core Indian values in the psyche of each and every individual.Be part of our global family……. This initiative makes education more holistic and meaningful as it highlights all that is abstract, subtle, inspiring and mystical in the world teaching one to look within oneself. The SPS has been fortunate enough to be backed by a team of very motivated and dedicated colleagues of SPIC MACAY who know their job and are result oriented. SPIC MACAY did nurture and stroke our creative pursuits. We felt proud in inviting Ms. Meeta Pandit, a Hindustani classical vocalist belonging to the Gwalior Gharana for a skill based session at our campus. She is the granddaughter and disciple of Krishnarao Shankar Pandit. She is the sixth in the unbroken lineage and the first women in the family to have taken up music as a profession. The show commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp. School Vice-Principal Mrs. Gayatri Kanwar welcomed the sitar Recital exponent and her team of accompanying artists. The performance received much praise from the young audience who were thrilled and spellbound to get a taste of flawless performance on the strings of a sitar.

SPS celebrated the ATL Community Day. It was a great initiative to foster an environment of innovation and creativity. Children from classes VI to VIII were engaged in DO-IT-YOURSELF activities to explore the world of tinkering and change. The children made many things with the newspaper. They also learnt how to make paper circuits. The children were shown the 3D printer, and they were amazed to see 3D prints.

Without change there is no innovation, creativity or incentive for improvement……

ATAL COMMUNITY DAY

SPS held its Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2018-19 recently. The event was graced by Honourable Chief guest Mr. Anil Gupta, members of school managing committee. The event also witnessed the presence of the parent community of the office bearers. The young leaders stood upright with their heads held high and their hearts in humility as each picked up their precious positions.The head boy Aditya Kukreja, The head girl Arsh Kaur along with ample office bearers received their badges. The newly elected council members took an oath and pledged to work earnestly and keep the school motto of ‘Education is a golden path’ in high esteem. They promised to disburse their duties and responsibilities proactively and diligently. The event ended on a note of positivity and willingness, with the council promising to take up challenges that would come their way. The cultural programme kept the audience glued to their seats.

INVESTITURE CEREMONYThe very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision. It’s got to be a vision you articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion. You can’t blow a weak trumpet.”

Our tongue is covered with thousands of tiny bumps that look like little warts. These are called taste buds. It is very necessary to know different kinds of taste buds that pick up the sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes. An activity was conducted on taste buds in class IV on 14 May 2018. The students brought different things like lemon, chocolate, coffee powder, bitter guard, biscuits and raw mango. All tasted the things to know whether it is sweet, salty, sour or bitter taste. This was a good experience for the students and all enjoyed a lot!!

SPS received acclaim for the impressive win under 14 football match held between Swarnprastha and Apollo International School. Swarnprastha won by 3-1.

There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all. Students of class II celebrated World Books and Copyright Day with a story from a Puppet book. They were too excited to see this book and learned the importance of books in their life.

WORLD BOOKS AND COPYRIGHT DAY (CLASS II)

Musical chair activity was conducted for Nursery and K.G. classes in the month of May. This activity gave an opportunity to the children to build their social skills since it is a group game which brought the children together. It was an ice breaking session for the children.

INTER-HOUSE ENGLISH/HINDI POEM RECITATION (CLASSES III-V)

Children are endowed with the gift of speech, with variants in pitch, volume, pace, rhythm, tone and expression. Recitation allows them to become familiar with the nuances of a language, including sentence patterns and parts of speech, thus deepening their understanding of the language. Poem recitation is skills encompassing the development of speech, expression of feelings, as well as stage confidence and school is the best platform for it. To develop such skills, English-Hindi poem recitation competition was held on 23rd May in which students participated with great enthusiasm and came out with great ideas on various topics. They presented their views on the topics such as Our Kith and Kin, Mother Earth and many more…...

WORKSHOP ON INNOVATIVE THINKING

Mr. Bhaavesh Suryakant, Director of Excellence Educo conducted a workshop for the students of classes IX to XII on innovative thinking. The session was mainly focused on quality in education, positivity in attitude, commitment and teamwork. It was not only informative but also refreshing and enthusiastic, enjoyed by students. As students walked to their classes their faces revealed excitement. The school will continue to impart holistic education and strive for excellence.

INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT AT OUR SCHOOL

Second Sardar Prakash Singh memorial FIDE Rated Chess Tournament was organised in our school from 17 to 22 April 2018. A chess tournament is a series of chess games played competitively to determine a winning individual or team. Chess tournament was mainly held in round-robin style, Swiss System style or elimination style to establish a winning party. The event was attended by many eminent personalities. We look forward to such games in the coming future…

To bring out the creativity and the artistic talents among school students of classes I to V, a drawing competition was held on 24 April here in school. Children eagerly participated in the competition to exhibit their creative skills in various topics like “My pet”, “My toy”, “Earth Day”, “Cityscape”, “Landscape”. Students proved that they do not only excel in academics, but also shine in exhibiting their skills by their creative presentation. As per their age level topics were given. From each class the best 5 paintings were selected and given positions. Since art does not have any rules and regulations, it was easy for kids to cherish the joy of making something which was uniquely theirs.

DRAWING COMPOSITION COMPETITION

The school had organised Inter-House English Declamation Competition for classes VI to VIII and Debate Competition for IX-X. The students conveyed a message with clarity, emotion and persuasiveness. The participants put in their best foot forward. Such competitions not only give confidence and encouragement to the speaker but also serve as a source of inspiration for the others.

Fire is a very good servant, but a very bad master. As long as fire is under our control, it serves a lot of useful purposes for you, but once it goes out of our control, it can create a lot of destruction. Keeping this in mind, our school organised an Interactive session on Disaster Management on 2 May 2018 for classes VI to XII. The students were excited to learn about a fire extinguisher. A fire extinguisher is an active device used to extinguish or control small fires often in emergency situations.

I think when you’re blessed with great influences, you need to spread it.”

DECLAMATION (VI TO VIII)& DEBATE COMPETITION (IX &X)

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

A neat and beautiful writing always seeks the attention of others. To develop awareness and love for good handwriting, a handwriting competition was conducted on 24 March 2018 in Defence Service Officer’s Institute, Gurugram by Winaum Learning.Students were judged on the basis of neatness, formation and spacing. The competition brought out the talent and creativity of the students. The importance of good handwriting was re-emphasized through the competition. It was a successful event and two students from Swarnprastha Public School were adjudged winners.

WINAUM HANDWRITING CONTEST(CLASSES I – V)

Mother’s Day is a special day of the year, dedicated to all mothers. It is celebrated all over the world. The students of SPS were given an opportunity to show their appreciation for their mothers, a day before Mother’s day. We all know how much moms deserve, and the mothers of our students are no exception. They deserve a good Mother’s day surprise that will make them smile. Mums are like buttons, they hold things together.

INTER-HOUSE SINGING COMPETITION(VI-X)

ENGLISH RECITATION COMPETITION Poem Recitation is a mode of expression, a medium to reflect the talents of the young ones.”

Sufism is the perfection of worship. It is the devotional music of the saints. The children of SPS enjoyed the flavour of Sufi music on 25 May 2018 with complete enthusiasm. The audience enjoyed to the utmost. It was indeed a neck to neck competition. The runner-up trophy was bagged by Lakshay House, and winner’s trophy was grabbed by Prayaas House.

Children are the greatest stress busters - sing, laugh, dance with them……..

Keeping this in mind, English/Hindi Recitation Competition for classes Nursery to II was organized. The enthusiastic participants showcased varied things that belong to nature like trees, mountains, animals etc. and focused on saving the nature for our future. Children of Nursery & KG recited the rhymes in groups which encouraged them to be more confident.

Talent is an inborn quality and we know every child is talented in some area. To polish this quality of children we gave platform to our children, so that they can boost up their confidence without any fear of competition. By this small event, we also found many hidden singers, dancers and dramatists.

FUN & FROLIC -TALENT HUNT SHOW

Puppets are fun for all ages. Teachers of Swarnprastha Public school through their determination and creativity had put up a mesmerizing Puppet Show for Pre-Primary Children on 9th May. The puppet show was a true learning experience as every item sent across was an inspirational message to the young learners.

PUPPET SHOW (PRE-NURSERY TO KG)

Summer is not just about sweltering heat, it’s also the time to mix learning with a lot of fun and frolic at the summer camp. SPS organised a 10 Days summer camp from 28 May to 8 June 2018 to keep children engaged during the summer vacation, have the artistic skills of the children, improve their physical fitness and focus on the overall personality development of the students.

Enthusiasm of RED COLOUR PARTY was full of joy and thrill. Students carrying a big smile entered the school. All dressed in RED. While the party was on, students enjoyed dipping palm in Red colour to make fish in their art file. Few games and music to dance added to the beauty of the party. Many moments were captured in the camera. After celebration each student carried a Red flower (craft) to enhance the beauty of their room.

RED COLOUR PARTY (PRE – NURSERY)

Mr. R. Ramana, Mission Director, ATAL Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, inaugurated the Swarnprastha ATAL Tinkering Lab. A group of children showcased their innovations. Students used Arduino, Resberry, Bluetooth, Hygrometer, Sensors and other electronic and mechanical devices. 3D printer was one of the main attractions in the exhibition. Mr. R. Ramana appreciated the student’s efforts and asked them to bring more innovations in their projects to make them future ready. On the occasion the school management also applauded the students and the stakeholders for their hard work. They have been setting up recurring success records during these fourteen years.

ATAL INAUGURATION

BIG ‘O’ MOMENT.Changes call for innovation and innovation leads to progress.”

An educational trip to Parle Factory, Bahadurgarh was organized by school for the students of class I & II. They went for a plant visit to see how the biscuits were made in the factory and were also shown an animated movie based on it. Students had a wonder time.
