Postgraduate Study SessionsOur Postgraduate Study Sessions have been a major hit this year, with several taking place since September.

But don't worry if you've missed these, as we will be running them again from September.

We also held our Postgraduate Coffee Mornings, where attendees spoke face-to-face with our Postgraduate Recruitment Officer, Tom Pinder, about what it takes to become a postgraduate student at Salford. Whether you're interested in a Master's, a PhD, or something else, these sessions are designed to help you get to grips with fees, finances, application and more.

We'll be running these sessions again in future, so if you'd like the chance to explore your Postgraduate options for the forthcoming year (and grab a free coffee and croissant!), get in touch with Tom to find out when the next sessions will take place.

Our dedicated Study Sessions will be back in September.

THE School of Environment and Life Sciences is launching its

new MSc in Wildlife Conservation in 2016, which will train students to solve and mitigate the problems that wildlife is facing across the globe. Threats to Biodiversity and ecosystems are at a record high and it is now widely recognised that our planet can no longer support the current pressure imposed by our society’s unsustainable ways. The new course aims to train the future generation of conservation leaders that will work towards a sustainable future for humans and wildlife, in line with the UN Convention on Biological Diversity 2011-2020 Vision: “Living in Harmony with Nature”.

The course will be led by Dr Jean Boubli, who recently took her undergraduate Wildlife Conservation and Zoology students on the trip of a lifetime to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.

The future

If you decide to study your Postgraduate degree with us, we

know you’ll have a fantastic experience. But don’t just take

our word for it - take a look at what some of our current PG

students have to say…

There’s a lot of research going on at Salford, they are very much into the biomedical science field here. They have the right tutors and professors

who encourage you to do more as well, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to come here and

study. I also feel the lab has made me competitive when it comes to the job market.

starts with you

Stephen Austin, MSc Biotechnology

Chukwuemeka Omakamee Nnuji,

MSc Advanced Physiotherapy

I found the Master’s program in Advancing

Physiotherapy very helpful as it assisted in

developing my research skills and evidence based

approach in the assessment and treatment of

patients. I have now successfully been offered a

role as a physiotherapist at one of the NHS trusts

in London. I will always be grateful to the staff

at the University for their continued support and

encouragement."

Katriona Naomi-Louise Winstanley,

MSc Marketing

The careers and employability service at the

University of Salford is seamless and makes job

hunting, and even starting your career, a thoroughly

enjoyable and exciting process. Having now

completed the internship in my chosen field, and

secured a full time position, I could not be more

grateful to the University of Salford for being so

supportive at such a crucial time in my learning

experience."

Alan Marden, PhD student

I was really keen to carry out this research at

Salford, but without the scholarship and my

lecturer, who believed in my ability, it would have

been very difficult, if not impossible, for me to

progress to this level."

Natalie Heaney,

PhD student and graduate of MSc Environment

Assessment and Management

I really enjoyed my experience at Salford during

my Geography degree so I wanted to carry on to

postgraduate study here. The 25% loyalty discount

and the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Award for

achieving a grade of 2:1 or above made the Masters

qualification affordable to me."

Victoria Aidoo, Ghana,

MSc Databases and Web-Based Systems

I loved the practicality of my course. There are lot

of hands on practice i get to do in the form of

coursework, class assignments with tutorials and

lab sessions. The University has many exceptional

links with industry. I would therefore like to take

advantage of that by applying into some graduate

schemes to gain industrial experience. If that does

not go through, I intend to go back home and apply

the knowledge acquired. I’ll miss the people here

the most when I leave. Salford is indeed home away

from home for me as an international student. The

support system is great and you are really never

alone. I would advise anyone thinking of studying

here to be open minded and ready to have fun

while learning at the same time."
