Gary C K Huang VOLUME 34 | ISSUE 14 03 FEBRUARY 2015 ROTARY BANGALORE INDIRANAGAR DISTRICT 3190 Board of Directors: 2014-15 T he Twenty Eighth Weekly Meeting held on Monday, 12th January 2015, at Rotary House of Service at 7.00 PM was a Joint meeting with Rotary Bangalore Ulsoor. The meeting was called to order by Pres. Mahesh Parikh. Joint Meeting with Rotary Club of Bangalore Ulsoor Well known Film director, producer & screenwriter, Sri Girish Kasaravalli was our Guest Speaker for the evening. Girish Kasaravalli is one of the pioneers of the Parallel Cinema in South Indian (Kannada) film industry. He has made 14 feature films in a carrier spanning 4 decades and won many national and International awards. He has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film of India (Presidents Golden Lotus four times) and Silver Lotus award 8 times. In 2011, he was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by Government of India. His wife Vaishali Kasaravalli was an actress and TV and theater director. His son Apurva and daughter Ananya too are working in films. Girish Kasaravalli Saving Tigers in a Crowded Landscape. An evening with Sanjay Gubbi S aving tigers in a crowded landscape was the topic that The unsung hero of wildlife protection, Sri Sanjay Gubbi, spoke about at the Twenty Ninth Weekly Meeting held on Monday, 19th January 2015, at Rotary House of Service. In his interaction with Rotarians, Sri Sanjay Gubbi explained how Cats act as landscape guardians and their presence indicates healthy, intact ecosystems that are crucial for all life, including people. A Master of Science in Conservation Biology, DICE, University of Kent at Canterbury, Sanjay Gubbi works mainly on conservation issues in Karnataka state. Sanjay bridges a strong understanding of the socio-economic and political aspects of conservation with its scientific bases. He undertakestiger conservation work as Panthera's Tiger Program Coordinator, in Karnataka. Sanjay Gubbi

T he Twenty Eighth Weekly Meeting held

on Monday, 12th January 2015, at

Rotary House of Service at 7.00 PM was a

Joint meeting with Rotary Bangalore

Ulsoor. The meeting was called to order by

Pres. Mahesh Parikh.

Well known Film director, producer &

S aving tigers in a crowded landscape

was the topic that The unsung hero of

wildlife protection, Sri Sanjay Gubbi,

spoke about at the Twenty Ninth Weekly

Meeting held on Monday, 19th January

2015, at Rotary House of Service.

In his interaction with Rotarians, Sri Sanjay

Gubbi explained how Cats act as

Joint Meeting at Jayadeva Hospital

T he 30th Meeting was held at

the Auditorium of Jayadeva

Cardiac Hospital & Research Centre.

The Dais was shared by Rotary Club

of Peenya, Yelahanka and

Koramangala.

The meeting witnessed the august

presence of PRIDP Anduranga

Shetty, PDG Badri Prasad, PDG

Rajender Rai, DGN Anantkumar and

few of the District officials. Meeting

was well attended by our own

members in large numbers, Donors,

Corporate partners - appx 125 guests

attended the program.

Meeting commenced with invo-

cation rendered by Ann Sowmya.

Rtn PP OP Khanna took the center

stage presenting the achievement of

Needy Heart Foundation & excellent

co-operation from Jayadeva

Hospital., this was then taken over

by Director Dr. Manjunath of

Jayadeva who has single handedly

placed the Hospital to its pinnacle.

He presented journey of Jayadeva

and with variety of anecdotes

making the audience split into

laughter and also making sharp

comments on meaning of Health as

well how Heart is important. He

explained about the challenges to

conduct pediatric Heart surgery and

the approach Jayadeva takes to

conduct such delicate operation.

Chief General Manager of SBI, Mrs.

Rajani Mishra spoke for a while and

applauded the efforts of Rotary and

that of Needy Heart Foundation. She

declared the complete support of

SBI for the Community service

projects envisaged by Rotary. She

expressed her appreciation when we

recognized the support service staff

at Jayadeva Hospital. Thank you OP

to include recognition of medical

support staff.

The proceeding of the meeting was

compared by Ms Mini Khanna,

daughter of OP who took the

proactive role for not only role of

compering but also in assisting to

distribute awards, almost 40 of them.

The meeting concluded at around

1.30 pm.

The meet was well appreciated by all

present, this became possible ,

thanks to main architect

PP OP Khanna, consistently

supported by Ramesh Agarwal, PP

Subu, Dr Srikant and ofcourse our

ever green Jt. Secretary Jagadeesh.

Pulse Polio Immunisation Camp on 18th January, 2015

T he first round of the NID Pulse

Polio Immunisation Camp was

completed on 18th January at our

three centres .95% of the Children

living in the domain of our 3 PHC ,

have been immunized, that in real

numbers is 32,914 out of 33,747

children.

Ex: Deputy Mayor and current

Councillor Mr. N Dayanand also

visited the Old Byappanhalli Center

during the NID camp, so did the

WHO team.
