Chapter 9 Installing the Maintenance Software

    9.1 About This Chapter

This chapter describes how to install the maintenance software for the BTS3002C. It consists of the following sections:

z Introduction to the Maintenance Software Installation z Installation Procedure z Logging In to the O&M System

9.2 Introduction to the Maintenance Software Installation

    I. Local Maintenance and Remote Maintenance

The maintenance software refers to the software running on the BTS3002C operation and maintenance (O&M) terminal.

The local maintenance is implemented by directly connecting the maintenance terminal to the BTS3002C through the Man Machine Interface (MMI).

The remote maintenance is implemented by connecting the maintenance terminal to the BTS3002C through the Abis interface.

    II. Installation Sequence

The installation sequence is as follows:

    1) Install the maintenance software. For the local maintenance, install the O&M module only. For the remote maintenance, install the public module besides the public module.

    2) Install the operation software through the O&M terminal.

Note: This manual describes the software installation in a step-by-step manner. For the actual installation steps not mentioned in this manual, use the default settings. That is, click the Next or OK directly.

Chapter 10 Installing the Operation Software

    10.1 About This Chapter

This chapter describes how to install the operation software for the BTS3002C. It consists of the following sections:

z Introduction to the Operation Software Installation z Installation Procedure z Version Check

10.2 Introduction to the Operation Software Installation

The Operation software is the signaling processing software that can operate the boards. The operation software consists of the IOMU software, DRU software and IASU software.

Running on the IOMU processor, the IOMU software performs O&M for the mini BTS and implement all access protocols.

The DRU software operating on the ITRU processor realizes power control, frequency hopping and interface control of the baseband module and RF module.

The IASU software runs on the processor of the optical transmission board and aims at function management on the mini BTS under optical transmission.

    10.2.1 Software Storage Media

The BTS operation software can be stored in:

z Memory chip z Disk files

All memory chips in boards of ex-factory BTS are pre-installed with software (bootstrap software at least). Generally, the software is upgraded by software loading.

    10.2.2 Ways to Download Software

In order to implement installation and upgrade of BTS3002C software, the system provides local and remote installation functions. As a result, the maintenance personnel can perform software installation or upgrading to IOMU, DRU and IASU through local or remote console.

The software installation is performed through the maintenance console.

    10.2.3 Software Installation Sequence

There are two steps in software installation, loading and activation. Software loading refers to the action to send the software to be run to IOMU, and software activation means making the software on IOMU into effect.

To ensure smooth installation, please load BTS3002C software based on the following steps: IOMU software loading, activationDRU software loading, activationIASU software loading, activation.

    10.2.4 Installation File Directory

The files to be downloaded can be saved under any directory in hard or soft disks. Specific file names and paths will not affect loading and activation. Nevertheless, it is still recommended that the files are named with category and version information (such as dru0820.bin stands for DRUs August 20 version binary file) to avoid misunderstanding and version errors. It is also recommended to set the file saving path as C:\OMC\BSC\BAM\dload.

    10.3 Installation Procedure

    10.3.1 Remote Installation

Before software loading, make sure the software to be loaded has been saved in the BAM of BSC, and corresponding software information has been configured in the BSC data configuration.

    Steps for software information configuration:

    1) Enter BSC auto data configuration console, and select Local office information tab page in the initial configuration interface as shown in Figure 10-1.

    3) Addition, deletion and modification of records can be implemented by clicking Add, Modify and Delete, as shown in Figure 10-2. By double clicking corresponding record, its detailed information can be viewed or configured. Figure 10-3 shows the detailed information of the first record in Figure 10-2. In the Software file name field, please input complete saving path and file name. The saving path here is a path relative to the BAM.
