Fully automated sprinkler system testing and monitoring.

Zonecheck Addressable is the only UL approved fire sprinkler alarm, monitoring and automated testing system. It utilises the latest state-of-the-art technology to provide a smart fire strategy for a building’s sprinkler system.

The system gives building owners/tenants the ability to monitor and manage sprinkler system components, alerting you of any specific faults and locations via a central controller. Sprinkler system testing is also carried out automatically in the background and with the addition of a printed test record, internal memory log and the ability to connect to other fire panels and systems, Zonecheck Addressable gives you peace of mind for monitoring, testing and code compliance.

Full ControlFrom the Controller you can program a building’s flow-switch testing routine. Providing total control for an entire building, the controller can differentiate from a fire condition signal and a test (‘soft testing’), enabling testing to be carried out independently of all other auxiliary equipment e.g. smoke vents, fire doors and escalators, isolating and eliminating the risk of false alarms. Allowing a sprinkler system to be effectively managed from one central location without the need to organise any third parties or contractors.

System MonitoringEvery sprinkler component installed on the loop is constantly being monitored via the IMMs e.g. flow-switches, zone valve or auxiliary equipment, relaying information to and from the controller, something that other addressable systems simply can not do.

• Life safety compliant• UL approved• Automated flow-switch testing• Around the clock system monitoring• Building remains code compliant 24/7• Code compliant to BS EN 12845• Printed test records via a local printer• 100% water saving• Gives exact location of primary alarm

in the event of a fire• Auxiliary contacts for external fire

equipment• Internal battery backup

OPEX savings - With the system being fully automated, expensive service contract and engineers are no longer required to visit site to carry out testing.

Sustainability - Saves both water, energy and labour reducing the carbon footprint of managing a sprinkler system.

Double point failure - If there’s a short circuit within the system it will still operate as designed and indicate the location and type of fault.

24/7 monitoring - The IMMs are constantly giving feedback to the controller of the state of the system providing total peace of mind.

Code compliance - All managed components stay fully code compliant. Full pass/fail test and event log provided.

Fully automated management - The controller takes care of testing routines for you in the background notifying you if there are any issues.

How it Works

The intelligent nature of the IMMs mean that they do much more than just relay information regarding flow-switch operation and its exact location within the building. The IMM has additional capabilities that include the ability to monitor local zone isolation valves and the local ‘mains’ supply. Further to this, the IMM has the capability for an auxiliary out connection, which could be used as part of a wider fire protection strategy (for example – trigger the opening of local smoke vents or link to a local fire alarm panel).

The IMMs can also be used to monitor Gemini pre-action sprinkler heads, pump house signals and trace heating units as well as automate the weekly alarm valve test with Bellcheck.

Our Addressable system is designed to manage a sprinkler system more effectively giving you more valuable feedback on the status of the system. For example when a monitored valve is not fully open a fault alert is indicated. At this point only authorised personnel can access the pin-protected controller

to mute the audible alarm (for up to 4 hours). After this period, the alarm will activate again so that the system will be managed in strict compliance with the applicable life safety codes.

In short, flow-switch testing is just the start – Zonecheck Addressable forms the basis for an all-encompassing, flexible and intelligent fire risk management and alarm system.

Green TestingNot only is the system smart, it is also green. Traditional testing methods would require trained engineers to travel to site and manually drain 320 litres of water for every flow-switch (630 litres for alarm valve testing). Our addressable system can carry out flow-switch and weekly alarm valve testing (with the addition of Bellcheck) without wasting a drop of water with the entire building being tested automatically in a matter of minutes.

Zonecheck Addressable

Each zone has its own Zonecheck, IMM and zone valve. The IMMs are wired (as part of a looped system) back to the addressable controller where all of the Zonechecks and local zone valves (or external fire equipment) in the loop are monitored. In the event of a fire, the exact location of the first flow-switch to activate is displayed on screen. The information received by the controller can then be relayed to a building’s main fire alarm panel, Building Management Systems or other compatible devices.

TestingDuring testing, a ‘test’ command is transmitted via the looped system to the IMM(s). Each IMM operates its local Zonecheck pump and monitors the flow-switch operating time. If the flow-switch operates in compliance with code standards, the IMM records a ‘pass’ and transmits the result back to the controller. If the flow-switch does not operate, or operates outside of the code standards required timing, the IMM records a ‘fail’, relays the information back to the controller and automatically turns off the pump.

MonitoringThe system is constantly being monitored via the IMMs, relaying status of all components installed on the loop back to the controller where an internal log of all events is stored.

ApprovalsThe system is approved to UL 346. This means the controller, IMMs and Zonechecks are approved as an addressable system for testing and monitoring. Zonecheck Addressable also complies with key principles of life safety codes and is compliant to BS EN 12845 & BS EN 12259-5 standards. Other addressable systems are fabricated on-site and are not approved to any standards.

Additional InformationProject Fire’s Bellcheck, Gemini & Pressurecheck can be incorporated into our addressable system, creating a wider fully encompassing fire strategy. The system also includes an ‘autorun’ feature where each Zonecheck pump is run for two seconds every week to reduce the risk of seizing. The system is wired throughout using FP200 or equivalent fire resistant cable and can support a loop length of up to 3km. Internal batteries continue to provide ‘life safety’ monitoring for a period of at least 48 hours, even in the event of a power failure.

Connecting to Other DevicesThe controller has the ability to connect to a wide range of panels and devices such as analogue fire alarm panels, addressable fire alarm panels, indicator panels and building management systems. The controller can output signals via standard relay, multi-relay (via Universal Output Module), smart link (Kentec Sycro Panels only) or SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) Modbus protocols.

Intelligent Monitoring ModuleEach Zonecheck requires its own IMM and has the capability to initiate a flow-switch test and transmit the results back to the controller. IMMs have the ability to receive an input from its local monitored zone valve and provision for an auxiliary out connection. IMMs can also be used with Bellcheck for automating weekly alarm valve testing, monitoring Gemini pre-action sprinkler heads and trace heating.

Controller & PrinterEvery IMM is wired in a looped system back to the controller. From here you can manage the entire addressable system. Whenever the controller has completed a test, whether it be a pass or fail a time and date stamped test record is printed out.

Pump House Monitoring ModuleThe special pump house module is designed to relay signals from your pump house system back to the controller.

Universal Output Module (not pictured)

The Universal Output Module (UOM) is an optional item that converts fire and fault status signals from the Controller into individual I/O outputs or indicator panels. These I/O outputs can then be routed to conventional fire alarm panels.
