Re: Marissa Garcia MGT 401 Evaluation

Dear Prof. Sloan,

As supervisor of the Zipcar San Diego Brand Ambassador team, it has been my

pleasure to observe Marissa Garcia’s enthusiastic and creative approach to our local

marketing efforts. Since joining our office in August, Marissa has invested over 200

hours in face-to-face marketing and consumer education, promotional event planning

and execution, and strategy-development for our University-channel outreach.

Marissa’s focus on the improvement of Zipcar’s marketing impact on San Diego’s

campuses yielded immediate results, as she scheduled member-acquisition events for

UCSD’s Welcome Week and opened on-going dialogue with Greek life and other

organizations at SDSU. Additionally, she quickly became a valuable resource for

initiating and developing local non-University contacts, benefitting our business and

residential outreach.

While Marissa’s initial plan for driving student membership and utilization, by

implementing a creative promotional incentive based around friendly competition

between student organizations, was delayed by factors beyond her control, she has

been a strong asset to our marketing team both on and off the University campuses.

Her contributions to our day-to-day operations, as well as to our future planning for

boosting student engagement, have undoubtedly played a part in growing Zipcar’s local

membership. Moreover, I expect that these contributions will continue to influence our

approach to University-channel messaging and acquisition as we continue to expand

our service throughout Southern California.
