In May, we celebrated the graduation of 23 seniors. In the final chapter meetings of their collegiate careers, sisters read letters to each senior and thanked them for leaving an indelible mark on the Gamma Alpha chapter. On May 1, we held a Senior Send-off dinner to celebrate the accomplishments of these incredible sisters, role models, and friends. As they go off to medical school, law school, and careers all over the country, we wish them well and hope that they will continue to be involved in our chapter as alumnae. Thank you for the difference you’ve made in our lives!

Fashion Show
On April 15, Gamma Alpha sisters strutted their stuff to raise money for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Our annual fashion show provides a chance for our family and friends to see Zetas in action and to enjoy a fun afternoon of fashion. After mobilizing to obtain support from local businesses and boutiques, the chapter put together a silent auction and fashion show that raised $67,000. This was our most successful philanthropy event yet, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the Miami Alumnae Chapter. Thank you to Debbie Cooke for emceeing the event and to Joanna Finazzo for serving as our Alumnae Fashion Show Chair! Our “Strawberry Fields Forever” show was organized by Fashion Show Chair Dana Gibilaro. From album cover centerpieces to dances choreographed to Beatles songs, this themed event was one for the record books!

Dressing up for philanthropy
“...to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving, thereby earning the right to be served...”
A day of bonding
3
To escape the stresses of the forthcoming final exams and to celebrate the success of Fashion Show, we had a sisterhood retreat at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. We met in our on-campus suite for bagels, and then boarded buses to drive us to Key Biscayne. Upon arrival at the Ritz, we enjoyed the entertainment of a hypnotist. We sampled hors d’oeuvres and ate a delicious lunch made complete with tiramisu. President Brittany Doyle led us in making personal goals for what we want to get out of our time in Zeta Tau Alpha, and how we want to impact the Gamma Alpha chapter. We ended the day with founders awards. Fraternity Education Chair Grace Madsen came up with the idea to have each new member class decide who in their class most reminded them of each of Zeta Tau Alpha’s nine founders. We had a wonderful time laughing about the selections and appreciating our sisters’ humor.

ZTA Convention
In June, three lucky sisters attended the 51st Annual National ZTA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Brittany Doyle, Torie O’Neil and Rachel Krantz were happy to accept the Gamma Alpha chapter’s awards for having the second highest chapter GPA and for raising more than $125,000 for our philanthropy during the biennium. We were also thrilled to support the Miami Alumnae Chapter, which won the Crown Chapter Award and Alumnae-Collegiate Relations Silver Award.
