NEWS FROM THE OFFICEHappy New Year to All! 2019 is bringing changes to your Community Newsletter. Af-ter 10 great years of partnership, our previous publisher has had to close their business. Mike and his staff at Great News Media have picked up the ball and offered to become the “Official Newsletter” for all Canyon Meadows Community Association content. Great News has always been delivering publications to all Can-yon Meadows residents as the “Your Canyon Meadows” flyer, so now there will only be the one newsletter in your mailbox each month. It will be called “Your Canyon Mead-ows Chronicle.” Please be patient as we work together with Great News Media to create the new newsletter. You can always check our website or Facebook page to get the most current news from the community.

CMCA’s new Event Planner, Morgan, has been very busy over the last month. She was the driving force behind the Toy Round-Up for the Salvation Army, which was desper-ately short on toys for their clients. The response from the residents of this great community was amazing...then, Morgan arranged to partner with the owners and staff from our local Austin’s Bar & Grill to add to the collection of toys that would be donated. The good people from Austin’s and Canyon Meadows Community are awesome! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GENEROUSITY!

The Tour of Lights was held on December 13th and was greatly enjoyed by a small but enthusiastic group of participants! Donations to the Calgary Food Bank were delivered on December 14th. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the office to drop off donations...just because. 😊

December 15th was a CMCA sponsored Rustic Sign Paint-ing workshop. Morgan had the class full of eager “artists” that had a great time creating many fabulous signs. Sheila from Infinity Art Creations made artists out of all of us! We can’t wait for our next workshop. At this event, we col-lected items to be donated to the Mustard Seed. Thanks to everyone that contributed a little something.

Finally, on January 18th between 10am – 12pm Morgan will be gathering local seniors (55+) to play cards and games and enjoy snacks and beverages. This is a great opportunity to get out of your house for a couple of hours and visit with old and new friends. Beat the January blahs – come out for a visit. Please phone Morgan (403-815-9635) or email her at [email protected] to get your name on the list. We hope to see you here!!

Until next month...Bonnie

Girl Greatness Starts Here!

Safety First: Tobogganing and Sledding Winter is a great season to get outdoors, especially with the thrill of tobogganing and/or sledding! Here is a list of helpful reminders if you decide to take part in this fun winter activity.•Inspect your ride: Inspect all your equipment for any cracks

or broken parts, this includes toboggan or sled, helmet and ensure that you can keep your equipment under control.

•Be cautious: Slide during the day time and in well-lit areas, be aware of potential hazards like holes, fences, trees and signs.

•Ready, set, slide: Ensure the path is clear, keep control and kneeling or sitting feet first face is the safest method to ride.

•Maintained hills: Did you know that the Parks and Bylaw don’t allow tobogganing or sledding downhill in a city-main-tained park? However, there are 20+ hills across the city that have been maintained for your safety. To find which hills are maintained for public use check the City’s website at www.calgary.ca.
