Nottingham City Council’s Equality & Community Relations Team alongside IDEAL (Identity, Diversity and EAL).

Whoiseligiblefornomination?

Children/young people of African, African-Caribbean and Black Mixed Heritage between the ages of 5 and 18 years who live in Nottingham City or are studying in Nottingham City schools/academies.

Whowillbejudgingthecompetition?

A panel of judges comprised of representatives from community-based organisations and local authority staff.

Whathappensnext?

Winning nominees will be notified by 31 October 2016. Certificates and prizes will be awarded in a presentation evening at the Council House on 10 November.

CanInominatemorethanoneperson?

There is no restriction on the number of nominations any individual may make, nor any restriction on the numberof categories for which any individual may be nominated.

In order to give all nominees the best opportunity to receive one of the Young Black Achiever’s Awards, we have supplied guidelines below to support the completion of the nomination forms.

(N.B. Primary schools can nominate previous Year 6 pupils who will be in Year 7 when the event takes place.)

Please provide the following for:

1)Allnominations

• Approximately 200 words describing the nominee’s achievements, as well as the following:

2) ForAcademicCategories–“OutstandingAchievementin”...

Nominations should contain some of the following information:

• Academic level(s) achieved and progress made• SATs results • Number of GCSEs, grades and curriculum areas

3)Additionalinformation

This could include:

• Sample/copy/evidence/recording of achievement• Mention of previously received awards and recognition
