Yoga During Mensturation In the first 24 -72 hours of menstruation a quiet practice of supine supported postures and supported forward bends is best for the physical conditions of menstruation. If you have normal periods and not experiencing discomfort you may do lateral standing poses. However you do not want to tire the legs which is why we use support and only practice standing asana near the end of the period. Avoid all inversions. Keep Your Practice Quiet and Soft Menstruation is a time when women can suffer from symptoms such as abdominal cramping, tiredness, irritability, and low blood pressure. It is a time when the body is working hard to expel unwanted matter and from a yogic perspective a more restorative practice is advised. Supported supine - Use support in the supine poses so the back and abdominal can relax and soften

Seated forward bends - Use support for the head in forward bends so the mind can rest
