Gymnastics NSW Awards Night
On February 4th
YMCA Epping, along with YMCA St Ives, Caringbah, Bankstown and Penrith attended the
Gymnastics NSW 2016 awards presentation night. YMCA Epping and three of our gymnasts were nominated in
the following in four categories.
Club Excellence in Inclusion – YMCA Epping
Club Membership – YMCA Epping
MG Junior Athlete of the Year – Ion Best
International Representatives – Christopher Bunton and Nicholas Zrnic
These nominations are a testament to the strength our gymnastics program here at Epping, with Epping
receiving an award in the Club Membership category.
One of the highlights of the evening was a speech delivered by our own Christopher Bunton. Christopher is a
member of our Special Olympics squad and a YMCA gymnastics coach. In July 2016 he and Nicholas Zrnic,
travelled to Italy to represented Australia at the Trisome Games for athletes with Down syndrome. In his
speech Christopher reflected on the joys of coaching and the lives he is impacting. He gave examples of
children’s accomplishments and how that makes working at YMCA a pleasure.
World’s Greatest Shave The Men’s gymnastics squad at YMCA Epping are helping to beat
blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s
Greatest Shave! Please support them by donating at
https://worldsgreatestshave.com/ (click on sponsor button and
search for Epping mens gymnastics squad). Just $52 will help
ensure someone being treated in hospital gets the extra support
they need.
On the 18th
March we will have a sausage sizzle at the centre to
raise more funds for the boys. Come along to help support this
great cause. Stay tuned for the after shot!
