Prologue

You don’t know me, you probably never will, but I am writing this at Jude’s request so

we have a record of our hardship. You may have heard of me in police reports. All lies.My name is _______ Daemon Kite, I am 6 foot 4 inches with brown shoulder length hair

and gray eyes. I am seventeen years old and a runaway. My twin sister Jude is with me,

she is roughly 5ft 6 with chestnut hair that ran down to the small of her back, she hadstabbing blue eyes and was the kind of person who couldn’t bear to she any kind of pain.

We left our life in those slums and we are wanted in Ireland.

I suppose I’d better start from the beginning…….

Chapter 1

Jude and I were born in a small southern Ireland town called ______, we never had

money, my father, Daemon Eric Kite was a drunkard and never did anything to

benefit us. Our mother, Myra Ann Jones, was the only one who ever loved the two

of us and she died when we were 7. God bless her soul.

Jude and I grew up with only each other for support, we had a plan to escape and

money to do it. Father took any money we had, but he didn’t know about my job at

the timber yard, old Henry knew our situation and paid me well above the

minimum wage. I had three thousand dollars hid away in an old shoebox. Jude had

two and a half thousand from her job at the nearby pub. Father thought we were

out with friends we didn’t have. He didn’t care; he didn’t have to feed us when we

weren’t home.

_______   put down the tattered notebook and turned to look out over the still forest in thevalley below. Two months in a new country had shocked his system. He bent down and

rearranged his ragged bedding, he lay down beside Jude and drifted off to sleep.

Thunder burned the air as the hammer came down upon his fathers head, Jude was in the

bedroom, rapidly getting their bags and money. ______ picked up his drunken father and threw him onto the lawn, blood staining the un-mown grass red. Pure hatred contorted

his features as he rained blow after blow on his father. Unfathomable words spewed

from his mouth. Jude ran past with their gear and he followed suit, disappearing into thedark, silent, night.

____ awoke with a start to find his already tattered blanket in shreds and a moist rag on

his forehead. Jude sat beside him with a worried look on her face, “you dreamt about

HIM. Didn’t you?” unwilling to say father.____ stammered the words, “almost everynight Jude, his blood is on my hands.” Jude closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. “You

did what you had to, he would have killed me to stop you from leaving. Don’t blame

yourself, we have each other now, without that bastard trying to hurt us.” _____ stood upand viewed their meager food supply. “We need to find a place to sleep and a place to

work, I will be in town to find out what I can. Are you coming?

With their clothes and money, they caught a shuttle into the city, on the trip, ____ had

time to think.

Father beat me from time to time, Jude loathed the man for the scars on my back. I

didn’t care that he hit me as long as he left Jude alone. Twice, in memory had he

taken a swing at Jude, twice I took the blow to make him mad at me instead. Thenight I killed him, we were about to leave for good. The cops dropped him home

earlier than expected and he froze when he saw our bags. He went for Jude to stop

me from leaving. He pulled a knife from the kitchen drawer and screamed at me.

“Take one more step out that door and see what happens!” I stopped, what else

could I do? He always knew Jude was my weakness. I hung my hands at my side at

walked to my room. The moment he had his back turned, I took the old engineers

hammer off the table and swung for his head. The rest I can only remember in

dreams.

They found a small flat above and Irish bar called O’Malley’s and settled in. they

sat in silence, taking in their surroundings. Jude spoke up, “Saul says if I work forhim down at the bar, half of my wages will cover rent, im gonna accept.”
