How did you prepare for
I practiced a lot with my coach and I
Describe how it felt when
you realized you had just
won the State title. What
was it like? The feeling was something I can't really describe in words. I felt that all of the hard work I put in, and all the preparation led to that moment. I remember I looked at my mom, and we were both so happy. I don't think I will ever forget that moment.
How do you think the season
as a whole led up to the State
match? We had a relaxed season, and
we all worked together well. When we didn't move on as a
team, I felt motivated to move on as an individual and win for
the girls and my coach.
What, if anything, would you
have done differently during the
regular season? At the
championship match? I wouldn't have done anything differently. Everything in the season went smoothly. At State, everything went perfectly with the match. The crowd was unbelievable,, my friends were so supportive, and everything leading up to and during the match was just the way it needed to be. It all lined up perfectly.
at state
the match of a lifetime?
also played in a tournament prior to the State match to prepare.

“The most unforgettable moment of
the championship was Olivia's last
pitch because she struck the girl out and
that was the moment we had all
been waiting for .
Then I rushed the field with my
teammates and we grabbed the trophy
while we were all jumping around. It was a
crazy feeling that I will never forget. It
was so unbelievable to know that we had
earned this win and achieved our
dreams ”
- senior Lydia Merriman SUPPLEMENT
Bloomington South's softball team beat the odds and came
out on top with a historical, first-ever State championship title. June 3rd. In hopes of continuing
the winning streak four days later,
they defeated two opponents in
one day: New Castle High School
and Decatur Central High School.
With the Semi-State round played
and defeated, the team forged
together into the State finals.
Exactly one week later, on
June 14, all apprehension was
pushed aside when it came time to
play Hamilton Southeastern (HSE)
in the State Championship game.
South swept the competition away
during those seven intense innings;
the Lady Panthers scored six runs
while HSE managed only two. In
the end purple prevailed, South
brought home the State title, and
this one team's one dream came
true.

MOMENTUM
ONE TEAM,
one dream
It was improbable, uncertain, and
some deemed it lofty. Yet, the
vision of the state championship
trophy never faded from the
Bloomington High School South
girls' softball team. They were one
team with one dream during the
2013-2014 season, and took that
motto all the way to State.
On May 27, the Lady
Panthers defeated their first
opponent, East Central High
School, with a 3-1 victory. They
followed this with a swift 3-0
victory over Bloomington High
School North. Moving forward, the
team left Columbus North High
School in the dust and took home
the Sectional title. The girls
definitely did not disappoint at
Regionals when they took on
