Middle PE (times vary for classes - flexibility required) Fundamental Movement skills program at school. Mathematics

Mathematics Watch ‘When you subtract with a pirate’ YouTube clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkPa9V2wtZs Using lego or blocks, stack 10 pieces. Roll a die and take off that many pieces and count how many you have left. Get students to say the equation e.g “I had 10 bricks, I took off 2, and now I have 8.” Repeat.

Extension: Get students to write the equations for each roll to extend the learning e.g. 10-2=8.

Mathematics Count back from 100 with Jack Hartmann. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jMmZaFvRpE Play Subtraction Bowling using Miss Kekwick and Miss Yang’s demonstration video to help you (on Google Classroom). Using the ‘Bowling Subtraction’ worksheet provided, roll a dice and cross off the number of bowling pins. Fill in the number sentences. Sunshine Online activity: Level 2: In My Dad’s Garden https://www.sunshineonline.com.au/ User name: nnpss Password: narranorth

Mathematics Watch Number Line Subtraction Youtube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up-FzFG1kHg Using the frogs number line template, pick a larger number e.g. 11 and circle it on the number line. Roll a dice and jump back the number of spaces on the number line. Write the subtraction number sentence e.g. 11-3 = 8. Complete the Number Line Subtraction worksheet.

Mathematics Count back from 20 with count back cat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6a2W8UQP5w Flip a number card (large number) and draw the same number of circles on a page. Flip another card (smaller) number) and cross out that number of circles. How many do you have left? Repeat a few times. Afternoon History (times vary for classes - flexibility required)

Science and Technology Watch the materials song.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SeKyEH9GRU Cut up and put back together Material Jigsaws. Complete each puzzle with a family member. (There are 6 puzzles, each with 4 pieces.) Identify what is the same about all the objects represented in each puzzle. The materials include: fabric, paper, wood, plastic, glass and metal. Look at the Jack and the Beanstalk (Made Differently!) PowerPoint. Pause every time an object which is described as being made of an inappropriate material is identified. Talk about why the material would not suit the purpose. With a family member play 'What Am I?' game to focus on materials such as fabric, paper, wood, plastic, glass and metal e.g. if the material were metal, provide several clues such as: I am cold to touch. I am shiny and heavy. I am often used to make jewellery.

Creative Arts Cut out the parts of the zebra using the Zebra template provided. Using black pencil or texta give the zebras stripes. Stick the zebra together using glue. Stick on googly eyes or draw eyes on your zebra. Using black string, give your zebra a tail and a mane. Cut out 4 circles for finger holes using scissors (or whole punch). Your fingers go through the holes and mimic the zebra legs!

Personal Development and Health Watch the video of Mrs Humphries talking to Kindergarten about being safe in our homes and at school (e.g. bathroom, kitchen, bedrooms, classroom). Go for a “safety hunt”, looking around the house for safe and unsafe places. Think about places you have been hurt in your home or at school. Take photos to put into your books. ● Talk about house rules

and why we have them. ● What feelings and

thoughts are you having after hearing Mrs Humphries’ concern?

Personal Development and Health View: The Coloured Thinking Caps tutorial by Sofia – Black & White Thinking Cap (Pause after Black & White) Think back to your safety hunt yesterday and brainstorm how these places can be unsafe and put words around pictures in your book. Answer questions from the Black and White Thinking Cap worksheet in your thinking journal.
